I'm pretty sure that the music video for "another brick in the wall pt.2" mentally scarred me as a kid....
+ZhinZhaw Gourneau Funny thing, once "The Wall" was on french TV (around 1992), and just before the movie they were a voice telling the rating. As I am a big fan and I recorded the broadcast, I've still in my head what it said:
"M6 vous informe que ce programme peut etre regarde par toute la famille"
Which means:
" informs you that this program can be watch by the whole family"
Hahahahah.. Oh Yeah... :)
Then I asked a neighbor to copy the tape, and then he told my mum "Garry is watching nazi videos !" Hahahahahaha.
+ZhinZhaw Gourneau A bit weird because it was released in '79. But I almost totally share your emotions - I would be GLUED to the TV screen any time it came on in the early 90s when I was a kid, having no clue.
I love pink Floyd but I preferred Comfortably Numb and Nobody Home.
I really wish those songs were 1st instead
And yes, that video slightly scarred me the first time I saw it
MoonchildMindaugas2 Well I was born in 94 but had hippie parents so basically VH1 ran 24/7 in my place back when it played mostly music.
The 80s had the very best music of all time.
True. Both rock and pop music.
I think the late 60's and 70's kind of had the best music. 80's rock took a high velocity springboard from these influences up up and away.
FACTS
Errr. I’m a sucker for 80s music. But the 60s and 70s gave us the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, skynard, the stones etc. I love the sound of the 80s bc it reminds me of my youth and there’s this incredible feeling I get when listening to the great songs of that decade. But the 70s to me is where some of the greatest of all time we’re at their pinnacle.
Growing up in the 70's had some really fantastic hits.
Guns N Roses always..ALWAYS...takes my mind and memories back to such a wonderful time in my life. I met my wife in 87 and from then until her death this year my life was heaven on Earth. Great great f'n times.
So sorry to hear that buddy. Strength.
That’s good, right?
Condolences.. and glad someone likes gnr too!
"LIVIN' ON A PRAYER" is my No. 1 and "SWEET CHILD OF MINE" is my 2nd -- good choice WATCH MOJO

You see Axl Rose. You wonder if you are at Taco Bell. No questions.
True I only watched this because Axl was the thumbnail

Love to see the Love for GnR here, usually I just see people hating Axl
he's stepped up recently
😊
The haters fail to have a good justification, making them tonight's biggest loser.
Axl is the King of Hard Rock of course. the haters can suck a fat one.
my Brother was named after him, but spelt Axel. still......
Thank God i never heard Brittany Spears do "I love Rock n Roll"
I never knew she sang the Song,I think it would have been better I've never got this information

+Vernon Parker 80s were DEFINITELY the greatest decade for music EVER.
That being said I personally cannot stand U2 so, I cannot FULLY agree with your statement.
+Vernon Parker Ditto!
Yeah and I couldn't live in it I could of been a rockstar
Oh my god, i've been waiting for it since the 60's vídeo..

It was never #1 on billboard. The VIDEO was #1 on MTV and was retired after never being knocked out of #1

Joan Jett's version of I Love Rock 'n Roll is the only true version for me
Ah, the 80's. Where people actually had talent. Didn't use autotune. And had random hairstyles.
I wish I lived in the 80s. I'm sick of this new shit.
Pandama Yes, you're totally right!
The 80's were the same as every other decade for every good song their was at least 40 bad ones, it just seems that the bad ones get all the air time these days. There are still some really talented new rock/metal bands out there you just need to look for them, and one of the good things about them not being so famous is smaller gigs have a better vibe than the large arenas.
M Balfour but the problem is that the new rock isn't given the exposure that shitty pop is
YEEESSSSSSSSSSS
We all know you clicked on this because of Axl Rose, and we all deeply respect your for that🤟🏻
You forgot the 2nd best selling album of all time back in Black AC/DC
Yes, but did any of the singles from that album hit number 1? It was a great album though. No rock collection is complete without it.

ABSOLUTELY NUmber 1! Sweet child O' Mine was the best! That Axl Rose sway is mesmerizing.
This was the music I grew up listing to! I am from a family of musicians, and we did many of those songs in our band. My Dad and I also were DJ'S. Whenever were were not playing live, we would spin records. We owned our own nightclub and set up a light show that rivled what you would see in New York. These songs bring back special memories of first my Dad and I, but later my younger sisters to my 2 sons! My father passed on in March of 2014, so I treasure this music and the memories that come from them. 😘😘😘
What about Journey's "Don't Stop Believing"?
+Ma P shite dood
+Jake Berango Did it top the charts??
It never reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. I'm pretty sure it peaked at #9.

Yeah but this is a video about 80's music??
@Pangulong Jomar Divina You weird Philippinos have cringy-ass music. This is the 80's Rock! you're at the wrong address.
No respect for Mötley Cruë??? Just asking
Not sure if they had any songs hit number 1. It was rare when a rock song topped the charts. I remember it always seemed like Madona, Michael Jackson, or the Bangles were at the top of the charts because their music wasn't offensive.
i don't think mötley cruë had any songs on there. but, i love them. great band with great bands. (i also recommend the netflix documentary, the dirt. amazing and funny.)
Dr feel good was number 1
@@markhaddad8886 Only the album went no 1. They didn't have song that went number one which this list consists of.
Mötley whö? 😂
RIP Eddie Van Halen. I know that Joan Jett’s I Love Rock and Roll was a cover, but to me it will always her song. YES! I’m so glad that you included BonJovi. They were my most favorite band of the 80’s and I saw them in concert 4 or 5 times. Thank you for taking me back to the best years of my life. I wish I could go back again and see more concerts that I didn’t get to see back then, and be hanging out with my best friends again.
Where is "Back In Black" by AC/DC (1980)?!?!
It wasn't a chart topper.
Yea great song not chart topper
Where's the entire album?! lol! I had SO much fun when that came out. Even some Southern rock is better! What about The Eagles???
+Christy LaGasse hotel california was a chart topper in the 70s
I was expecting it aswell :(
The 80's was the best decade of music
agreed
It started out real shitty with John Lennon and John Bonham dying but it got pretty good.
I agree that's why I still listen to the 80s music til this very day. All because I think the music during my birth decade is a whole lot better than today's music just my own opinion. Which is why I don't listen to too much of the music today all that much so I just like the music I grew up on in the 80s and 90s more than any other type of music. There may be some songs today I might like but the music I grew up on was a whole lot better. Also my parents even grew me up on the 50s, 60s, and 70s music as well so I do like those musical decades as well. But the 80s was my birth decade which was music that was just started to get on smaller discs that we now call CDs for the first time. Since I think CDs didn't start coming out until sometime around the year I was born for the first time in 1984 I think. And I'd would even still listen to this kind of music on my old Walkman player if I still have it somewhere around my house I'm not sure what happened to it.
Chad St. Pierre. I think you forgot the mid to late 70s. I am a girl born in 1946. I should like 50/60 era music. But I happen to like The Eagles and Aerosmith, and Bob Dylan. It is a sad day since Glenn Frey passed on. I do mean is. And what about Pink Floyd?
I to do like the 70s era as well music to. My parents grew me up on that type of music when I was growing up as well. Like the Eagles and Aerosmith. My mother once told me that her mother was a big Elvis Presley fan when she was growing up. Even though I was born in the mid 80s I still like to listen to those classic music til this very day.
Huge Queen fan, I'm so glad to see this on the list!
The 80's had so much iconic songs that I would probably agree with any list you put out.

Man, Axl was hot back in the day! ;)
My mom introduced me to all the good 80's songs. She was my age in the 80's, and she knows exactly what I'd like because we're so similar...
For myself I pretty much grew up in the 80s and 90s so I was about 5 years old by the end of the 80s myself since I turned 6 years old in the first year of the 90s as for myself. I was born in 1984 and I turned 5 years old in 1989 so I grew up listening to this music on the radio all the time in our car sitting in my car seat while I was living in Japan from my birth to the age of 2.5 years old and then from age 3 to 4.5 in Virginia and from 4.5 to the age of 5 in 1989 into 1990 in North Carolina. In which my parents still continued to listen to not only the 80s but also the 70s, 60s, and 50s as I was growing up in the 90s that I still listens to onto this very day. Along with the 90s as well. I might like some songs that I hear today but there are not too many though that I like today so in my own opinion I like the music I grew up on better than some music of today so the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, and the 50s type of music is what I like better for me to listen to today.

I remember when MTV played music videos almost 24/7. That didn’t last.
the 80s had such a diversity of music styles. popular radio stations would play everything from hair metal to soft rock and electronic synth pop in the same rotation and "college" bands were mainstream.

Unbelievable the number of people that don't understand the video despite the name of the video and the fact they mention it at the beginning: it's the top 10 BILLBOARD CHART TOPPING SONGS of the 80's. Not Your favorite from any rock songs, the ones that made it to number 1 on that chart. "Why is my favorite song not on there?" Most likely because it didn't make it to number one. You can easily verify that by checking the wikipedia page of said song. "What, no love for band X?" again, did they have a song in that decade that made it to number one? Really not that hard to understand.

The Eclectic Collective as someone who doesn’t know rock music that well or at all ok very interested in those recommendations
I absolutely agree , especially with #1 💕Sweet Child O'Mine 💕. I sang it to MY kids when they were babies , great lullaby lol .
...another #1 I never heard played, anywhere. There was a fine Fleetwood Mac song called Child of Mine, on the Bare Trees album, one of two great FM albums before Stevie Nicks showed up. Don't get me wrong - Nicks and Buckingham restored the band after Bob Welch left, but they had two great albums, Future Games and Bare Trees, with Welch. But those were 70s albums, when there still was first-rate, original music pushing through from the sixties explosion of great talent. Then radio songs started to suck - glam arena rock. disco, rap, hip hop - all produced for and by record execs, instead of creative musicians. All you have to do is read the comments here about "Axl" to see the brainwashing took effect.
Don't Stop Believin' by Journey is #1 in my book!
