      Never did understand. Why wouldn't someone want to have their song featured in something like this? It's sort of advertising for their song. So stupid!

      You have to laugh at these pricks. You play 10 seconds if that of their song and they get all shirty about it. You would have thought that they would provide a link to the full version as opposed to quieting your version. Great montage, love it.

    Having just watched this all the way through, (and yes, I do remember them,) it struck me that one of the main difference between then and now is the diversity of the music. We seem to have lost that somehwere along the way. Some great songs in there, but, some so-so ones too.

    absolutely loved listening to this list, I am now 55, but as soon as i heard this compilation I remember exactly , when and what I was doing, nothing like music to bring back memories, if music be the food of love then play on, because I have nothing but love for my friends and family who shared in these happy years with me x

    I was born in Dec '61 so I loved being a teenager in the mid to late 70's. Also love all the 60's music I grew up with. The best thing now is that I have seen in the past few years Peter Frampton, Suzi Q, Neil Diamond, Eagles, America and others and they still sound fabulous. I waited 30 years to see Rodger Hodgeson (the voice of Supertramp) and that concert would be my groundhog day if I could pick one. Just wish I had the same energy .

So the 70's music was my rite of passage..so privileged..Rod Stewart is top of my list and he sounds as good as ever and still gives me butterflies..Steve Harley..David Essex ..wizard sweet mud glitter band and of course..the Bay City Rollers who I am going to see in concert in December..and relive my youth.FABULOUS..o and let's not forget sparks..I could go on and on. As an American, this was so much fun to watch! Some of these songs were also #1 in America, others were good songs but not nearly as popular here, and others I never heard even once! You might find it hard to believe Slade was a complete mystery to me, T-Rex had only one USA hit ("Get it on"), Gilbert O'Sullivan had a huge hit with "Alone Again (Naturally)" which didn't even hit #1 here (while the two #1's here barely made a dent in America) ... both the similarities & differences were fascinating! I can't wait to watch Part 2. Thanks so much for putting this together!

      You missed the ball, what a shame. Big is not always better especially where live music is concerned. Watching a band play live from the other side of some gigantic arena is no fun. But a small intimate venue at unbelievable volume levels, well that's something to behold. 'Slade' live at the 'Lyceum Theater England' 1980 'Till Deaf Do Us Part' Tour. I came away from that gig soaking with sweat, with hardly any vocal ability after all the singing along and my ears rang on for at least 2 days........Best gig i ever went to.

    The song was recorded in 1968, and was re-released as a single after Hendrix's death in 1970. It was the A side on a three-track record, and reached Number 1 in the UK. It was catalogued as "'Voodoo Child" (Slight Return), and that is the title which appears on the single and is the title referred to officially. The term "slight return" refers to the song's initial role as a reprise of the 15-minute track "Voodoo Chile" featured earlier on the album Electric Ladyland. Thanks for the comment!

      Same Here. I am 17 now, and my favorite periods are the 60s and 70s. I would really love to experience that time. Today is just blank, nothing really special to look forward to.

    i think the late 60s and early 70s was the best time for music, but even today, if you look hard enough you can find great music, its just not popular

      Absolutely 100% correct. '73, 74 and 75 were by and large the worst years in terms of BBC tame selected singles air play and consequent charts. Slowly recovered until almost death in 1988

    a great setlist for "a year in the life of" a 70's child. regarding the negative comments,, they were bound fo happen, but the other thing that was also bound to happen was the amount of people who like the music for what it was, and their ability to separate it from all the bad stuff which went on. at the end of the day, music for music's sake,,, anyone wants to hate,,, go do it somewhere else, we aint interested. GREAT UPLOAD. THANKS.

    • @orangehoof
      @orangehoof 5 років тому +4

      Not much of a singer. The song was from a musical film "Paint Your Wagon" and Lee Marvin had never sung on camera before. The directors just told him to growl through it and they'd dub in what worked.

The Mael brothers are still going strong. Still witty and a bit different from everything else. Only lasting love of my life 💖😂😂
