  • This video was originally scheduled and uploaded on March 8, 2024 at 2 AM EST. We couldn't predict that just a few hours after, news of Akira Toriyama's passing was announced.
We decided to private the video and postpone its release. We also edited the part where the audio was kind of quiet so we decided to edit the video a bit and republish it.
This video is more about Kazuhiko Torishima, but it also contains the story of how he and Akira Toriyama conceived the story of Dragon Ball together.
    Rest in Peace, Akira Toriyama.

Fun fact: did you know in the cell saga that cell wasn’t supposed to be the main villain in that art originally androids 19 and 20 were supposed to be the main villains but Toriyama editor didn’t like those two as the main villain, then Toriyama created android 17 and 18 but Toriyama editor didn’t like them either because he thinks that they look like a bunch of spoiled brats, then Toriyama created cell and his editor was like it looks scary, but it looks kind of ugly. Can you give it a transformation or something? lol toriyama always talk about how much he hates his editors at Shonen Jump.

Ive heard this story before and Im glad you brought it up again! I've always wondered why the villains just kept getting added on during that saga.

Yu Kondo was the editor that complained about Semi-Perfect Cell's designs.
And to add on, Torishima wasn't his current editor during the android saga, so Toriyama technically isn't forced to change the villains but he did anyway lol.

I watched this when you originally published it, but you must have unpublished it before I finished watching it, so I'm glad that I can finally give it a like (and a comment too, I guess)!

I love these kind of stories! while I would never desire to have been born in the past, I must admit, the classic manga of the 70s and 80s greatly appeal to me, as does the mythic environment where manga was truly reborn.

Why do people always treat the pre and post Raditz parts like they're two different series? Both anime adaptations are two parts of the same manga.

Love the videos. Question: what is the source video for the mangaka live action J-drama clips?

Hello, did you mean the one at 4:55? It's called "The Story of Shotaro Ishinomori, the Man who Created a Hero"
