Last Crossing & Abandoned Railroad Spur

- Check out the last Railroad Crossing on the CSX Downtown Miami Extension as well as this abandoned industry spur from the Seaboard Air line days. It the became SCL Seaboard Coast Line and lastly Seaboard Systems before becoming CSX in 1986. It did a bit of street running before going into the warehouses and was active until about 2014 when the crossing on the next block over was removed, as was the switch. This is right next to what was the old Miami Seaboard Station, which will be a future then and now video I will post. This track even connected with the FEC near the Port of Miami.

Great find. Sad to see so many old spurs like this abandoned. At least they haven't torn the tracks out. Great video!
I can't step over abandoned rails without thinking of their history. We have them all around our refinery. Then those trucks had to take over. ☹️
Great video gone but not forgotten by you thanks for sharing
Interesting crossing 🤔 Great video! 👍
Great video! Loved the bacon comment !!!
The part that crosses the road is gone, there is no flangeway for the wheel flange. That's a truck dock on that old train spur.
These companies are going to be forever sorry that they discontinued their service or having the their rail line cut
That spur continued to the farmers market across 12th avenue and was still active around 10 years ago. Part of the reason Metrorail remains higher north of Alapatha station was to clear that station.
If you go down that street to 7th avenue and go about half a block north to the front of the building(hospital?) the façade and sign of the Seaboard station were preserved when the station was demolished to build the facility.
Where you start was the site of the Seaboard Miami station and the track you started on was the station bypass which continued across 7th Avenue to the freight terminal which ran south along the east side of 7th avenue. There is a bridge on 14th avenue where 14th went over the tracks before going under the expressway. Also Where Metrorail goes under the expressway in Overtown was where Seaboard ran with some spurs to beyond Miami Ave and interchanged with FEC, This was where the Brightline ramp is now.
Great video of this spur track. Thanks for sharing.
I guess someday depending on who might need rail service in those warehouses could be used again.
I’ve never stepped foot in Miami, but through your videos from the last few years I feel like I have an intimate knowledge of the place. At least the parts that have railroad tracks running through them. This area is so dang fascinating, thanks to you I think I could find my way around. You keep doing what you do and we’ll keep tuning in, on Sundays and Wednesdays. And I’ll keep wishing for that time machine.
That's some odd ball grade crossing on 10th Ave.
Nice find! It's interesting how times have changes where you see buildings where the old tracks used to be.
Amazing find my friend. Keep up the great work!!
Awesome! Happy railroading!
Köszönöm jó videó!😊👍
Nice update video Roly! I love how much of the rail is still holding on for dear life! What whole area is really cool! You can just imagine the little switcher steam engines pushing box cars around there!
I have to ask, are the US&S Teardrops at 21st Avenue and 24th Avenue still there?
