- Hey gang, Mike and Kitt here with some new stuff to share including a unique new style of ride along. This video was a way to share another neat little feature of a smart phone's uses on a car like Kitt. Think of this video as a Part II to this one
• KNIGHT RIDER KITT TECH...
which is my "Tech Toys" video with Kitt from a previous outing.
I took some creative liberties with this video as well. Multiple camera angles in the ride along with Kitt, multiple APP uses which were all mirrored off my monitor, as well as some "interesting" people I ran into while making this video. LoL
I hope you guys enjoy this one as well as the others. :-)
Peace all.
Mike - Авто та транспорт
So freaking cool, you got the car to do most of the sounds from the series. This video make me wish for a scanner.
i liked that when KITT told them to shut up, hahaha lol and i also liked that part with the radar and KITT's function on the monitor screen
Looks really cool! Interesting how the details make huge difference, like the beeps and message sounds. As a side note, the original Knight Rider season one just started on tv here in Finland (that's why I'm here). We watch it from SD resolution tube (crt tv), although via dvb receiver. The biggest difference to the original run is that I have my own family now. The excitement of the show is roughly the same as in the 80's, for all of us :)
Great Car and Video !!! I love this car and TV Serie !!!
@HDTanel Thanks for the nice words bud. Many of my videos are available in HD, you just have choose that option. :-)
Peace man.
I've noticed the responses I get while driving Kitt are either great and really nice, or I run into jokers like these in the video. Doesn't phase me anymore. Makes for interesting videos later down the line. My Kitt has forward and rear mounted hidden cameras that record constantly while he's on. :-)
I'm a big Knight Rider fan but my country law prohibits me from driving a souped up car like KITT. But damn.. It sure must feel good driving around in KITT! Freakin' awesome! Respect.
The DVD screens are from Bo McDonald. He is a moderator on the Foundation web site. He sells those DVDs. Also, the best way to keep the caps on the wheels is to zip tie them through the wheel. You can make small holes on the inside surface of the cap, and zip tie them through the rim. Then, attach the rim and cap together to the car. Ultimately, the zip ties are hidden behind the cap, and they'll never come off.
@sandy9623 There are more vids on my channel here that show many more of the car's features, including a voice recognition and response system, a functioning oil slick, a functioning smoke screen, and many more items. :-) Thanks for the nice words bud.
You have the best KITT replica I have seen yet, great job!
I love watching your videos!
You got it. :-) Kitt doesn't look for trouble, or ever try to start a fight.....that's cowardly.....however, he never walks (or drives) away from one either. :-)
Very nice video with a very 80's feeling!
Dude ur K.I.T.T is amazing! best Functional replica I seen so far
+mikey08857 Thank you. :-)
I'll see what I can find as far as copies of the overlays. As far as the voice samples, don't sweat it. My website sells a disc I've amassed over the years that has every sound byte from both cars, as well as ambient sounds. It's how many of my videos are made. :-)
3rd Kitt? You're probably talking about the diagnostic screens. Those all come on a collection sold by Bo McDonald. He's the moderator of a Knight Rider conversion website and message board. He's made a set of DVDs that replicate the diagnostic screens and readouts that Kitt had on his monitor throughout the seasons.
@acersimpson1 .....in addition to the camera question, I was also experimenting with camera rigs that I usually use when I do these vids with Kitt. The dash angle I hadn't tried before. :-)
Then cutting them all together makes it interesting too. LoL
Dude this is exactly what I was thinking about = A REAL KITT! I'm poor and will never have one but at least it exists! You are awesome bro! Please keep fighting crime and developing KITT and posting videos, it is definitely interesting!! You need to link up with a badass programmer that can refine KITT's conversation!
Holy smokes!
I would LOVE to drive around with kitt! I am a big Knight Rider fan! ((Well thanks for my older bro for getting me hooked on this!)) I was sooo happy to see that netflix added Knight rider, i showed my bf and now hes hook!
Great job on this!!!
Very cool. Looks like a load of fun.
Honestly, I'm not even sure now. LoL. I've been working on him since 1994, and since I "did" order all the parts to build him little by little, I did all the work myself including install, some custom fabrication, and all internal wiring and new fabrics. A Kitt car like mine could run you between 25 and 30 grand for a nice replica. If you do the work yourself, you can easily cut that price in half. Like me. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
@MickScarborough Thanks for the support. :-)
Thanks man. I have indeed driven a lot of strange and exotic vehicles.....but I must say, KITT is my fav. :-)
They're all over the net and sold from different vendors. Parts like the electronics, the fiberglass components, and the items for the Firebird or Trans Am itself. But don't fool yourself, "cheap" is something these parts are not. You can get pretty good deals, but there are those out there that really charge a ton for replicating or recasting these parts as well. Message me directly, and I'll give you some links since I can't post them here. Peace man.
Mike
Mine has a 350. And if you're gonna push a 500HP stroker engine through a 3rd gen Trans Am like Kitt....you better strengthen up your frame. These cars are unibody by design and that much HP to the rear wheels will torque the hell out of the body and ultimately lead to stress cracks and broken supports. Trust me.....been there done that. :-)
If you notice while browsing my channel here.....Kitt is my prominent show car and my favorite....but I've done the Jeep (which replaced Kitt as my everyday driver) and also built a Ghostbusters Ecto 1. Think I'm insane yet? How about this....I have yet another old Cadillac Ambulance now and am doing another Ecto 1. :-) Some folks collect stamps.....I rip apart old cars and turn them into the hot wheels I grew up playing with. :-) Peace man.
Mike
That all depends really. With the exception of the paint and body work, I did all of the work to my Kitt myself. Wiring, mounting hardware, functions, tuning, and all his interior. The parts you have available to you will greatly effect how easy or difficult it is to assemble a Kitt conversion. There are some genuinely good parts out there for these cars, and then there's some real crap. If you're gonna do it, research research research. :-) Peace man.
awesome car!!!
+john bailey Thank you. :-)
@acersimpson1 I didn't use the VSS cameras due to the fact that they "do" work at night and look pretty good, but don't offer as a good a picture as my two DV Cameras. I really wanted as high quality as I could get with the poor lighting conditions. Plus that wasn't the point of this vid.... :-) And the iphone is wired with a video cable made specifically for the iphone, but you need to jail break the iphone to mirror the image like I did in the vid.
Peace man.
Mike
Mio has since discontinued the Knight Rider GPS and doesn't make it anymore unfortunately. They are pretty cool though.....but after several years, they've discontinued them. You can still find them online....but they stopped selling them retail about 2 years ago.
Thanks. No problems, but it did require a lot of hands on work, and fabricating. That's kind of a given for these conversion cars. I did all the work myself including wiring and installation, so certain things had to be fabricated and created for all of it to fit together nicely. The animations are from Bo McDonald. You can find him on The Foundation. It's a KR message board. Google it, and you'll find him. :-) He sells a DVD with all those animations. Peace man.
Good video and that was a bad ass replica of knigth rider...
thats awesome BTW it that knight rider music playing in the car every few seconds or it that music u added to the video
Love how KITT told em to shut up. :OP
You may get lucky and see someone selling a full finished conversion on Ebay, but you take a big chance with over paying for a pre built car. I suggest looking up a Knight Rider community website called KnightFoundation. It can be instrumental in finding the parts you need to build a Kitt car.
@DJTackTixx Thanks for the nice words. :-) If you do it yourself, and really really research who to buy from, you can purchase the conversion parts yourself, and if you're inclined too....to do all the assembly and wiring yourself....you can expect to spend between 15 and 20,000 for a replica like mine. Most folks probably spend more on them....but the more you do yourself, the less it costs you in the long run. Thanks again bud. :-)
Damn you, im envious!. Money well spent, keep posting the vids, we'll keep watching erm. Nice job.
Thaanks for this video! Man I was suuuch a huge fan when I was a kid watching this :) And the most amazing thing is that I actually saw this in real life in ESTONIA where I live, back in I think 1994 or smth... I mean exactly like yours with the kitt interior! I couldnt belive it... Still cant belive it :D
Would love to drive this one day :)
Once again thx! And make some HD videos of your KITT! Id make one for you if you would be a tad closer hah.
Still love your K.I.T.T.
@MichaelAngeloSanders I'm sure there is......but I've never tried with an android before. Just took an Iphone, jailbroke it, and used the appropriate cables to tie into my Kitt's monitor. The blue tooth feature just requires you to pair the smart phone with the blue tooth device, then it's all down hill from there. :-)
Hey Colton...thanks for the words man. :-) Driving Kitt is unlike driving any other car in the world. Thanks for the video support too. I haven't been on GB Fans in a while, but I do frequent the Jurassic Park Jeep page that is ran by the same moderators since I also have the Jurassic Jeep. Maybe I'll see you around one of the sites. I'm also on Facebook. Just search for KNI1GHT, and you'll see my pics and vids. Peace man.
Mike
still the most awsome car ever some day i would love to get an upclose view
@acersimpson1 Well, I love making videos and movies. I've experimented with riggings that hold my camera on Kitt's bumper, his fender, and even underneath the car. The riggings are usually PVC piping that are strapped down in place with a camera dolly to hold my cameras. Kinda like what the old show used. I've used suction cup mounts, windshield mounts, you name it. I'm always looking for a new shot, or new angle I've never used or seen used before. :-)
That car is cool man! Great video and awesome car!
Thank you. :-)
Can you please tell us in details , how did you mirror your iphone on the screen ?
Great work ...
Sweet kitt car i want one too!, i stumbled upon something you might like! its called a Mio Knight Rider GPS unit that does all the talking in Kitts voice! lol so cool you should get it for your kitt!
Thank you very much. And if it makes you feel any better....the cars are getting harder and harder to find out here too. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
I have a split two car garage door, and I have a button for each on my overhead console. :-)
Hey Michael can you tell me how you get that 3d kitt on your monitor thx great kitt rep too love it
Nice replica and great video! :)
I'm sure those idiots were just jealous because you were in a sleek, cool, 1980's T-top KITT car. ;)
true kitt`s a trooper!
I like the camera angles. Also, whats the jailbreak program you used to display iphone onto monitor?
Since you're in the UK, I wouldn't even know where to tell you to start. However, the net is probably gonna be your best bet. Look for a Knight Rider message board called "The Foundation" It's an excellent source for finding exactly what you need, and many many helpful people there too. If you can't find the site, message me, and I'll provide you with the link. Good luck man.
Mike
@Coltfighter Thank you. :-)
5:57 looooool xD
nice job bro!! i have 2 questions for you... first one, what do you use for your screen dvd? did you make a dvd for that screen? the second is how do you keep your hub caps from coming off?? thanks from another knight rider nut !!
Crazy hot!! Question though... You got your dash from Mark's & electronics from Jupiter, did you have any issues with fitting them in the dash? Also where do you get the dash-top electronics above the voice box & those cool diagnostic animations?!? Again, awesome videos!
We have the same kind of idiots in my town,Thanks for the awesome video.
I swear Mike, one of these days if there's a way to make a touchscreen DASHBOARD,you'd be the one to make it happen! Also,I would like to ask,do you know if it's possible to get Ikitt on an Ipod touch,or is it just the iphone?
Very nice !!
Lucky lucky lucky!
Post some more vids man!!! :)
Can you drive with so many little bulps flashing on your dashboard?!? Lol
Good job
It's not as difficult as you may think. :-) Thanks for the nice words though.
Sure.... do you know how to find me on there? If you need demographics or specifics, just message me here. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
I have a 2009 black Mustang GT that resembles the GT500KR from the later series. Cool stuff. Can this stuff be adapted to the Mustang?
That dash won't fit a Mustang. It's molded to fit inside a 3rd gen Firebird or Trans Am.
Hmmmm.....a touchscreen dashboard. Interesting. :-) As far as IKITT goes....there are apps for both iphone, droid, and a few others. Not sure exactly....but doing a google search my reveal more apps that are out there. Never tried ikitt on an ipod touch though. I would think it would work. :-)
@MrTamiya89 Thanks man. :-)
wow so cool, im from england massive kr fan awesome dash and car very very green with envy
Thanks. :-)
@buukittyfilms Thanks. :-)
I'd be the happiest man alive to own a replica like this! If you don't mind me asking how much did this thing cost you to build/re-create?
This is just mind blowing.
awesome man !
nice one mike
@KSE828 There is nothing I've found that says they're "illegal" :-) Never had any issues regarding it's legality to be honest. And no....no airbags....just like the stock wheel didn't have. :-)
Yah....and it has it's benefits. :-)
Did you buy kitt with the pmd seats in it or did buy them after
I SAW HIM ONCE BUT THATS IT IT WAS PRETTY COOL
is it better to buy kitt for 30 or 40 grand or to build him what if you dont have the time to find parts try to save the money to buy him.
I have a question.
Is it fairly easy to get one of these customized? Just browsing on here and google it seems a lot of people have a knight rider car.
@beasst94 Thanks bud. :-)
SEE!, KITT IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE WAS LISNING TO THE GUYS THAT KEPT SHOUTIN AT HIM SO HE TOLD THEM TO SHUT UP WITH HIS EXTERNIAL SPEAKERS!!!!!!
What kind of engine do you have in your kitt? is it stock trans am? I would love to have a kitt car with a 500hp 383stroker engine in it! and blast some knightrider theme song while driving it! lol
@richarded22 Just let me know when you're in the area, me and Kitt will come find you. :-)
Thank you. It was a lot of fun making this one. :-)
Nice car! Did You build it from zero?
+Ricardo Oliveira Yes I did. Project began back in 1994 with a base model 1984 Pontiac Trans Am. Thank you for the comment. :-)
Hey Mike, great work. Quick question, the Knight Registries Forum, is there still a virus on there??? Things were fine in May. I didn't go on there for a month. When I returned in June, people were complaining about viruses in certain threads. Everything was fine until I opened an older thread and a virus closed my browser and tried to attack my computer. Luckily it didn't get far and my security software killed it. I've avoided going on there since. Please let me know. Dan
"Ohh shut up" haha
Thank you very much. :-)
Im curious what you did with your power plant and transmission, the standard AOD in an F-body is a piece of shit by far, a large piece at that, BMR makes a cross member to convert to an LT1,LT4 and 6speed i made mine tho i have not started on any flashy lights, I can not see having kitt if the power is not there
20 years ago, the car started with the stock 305 and 700R4 Transmission, which was a base package for these cars. Problem was, they would do good to push 180 hp. Since then, I've experimented with big blocks, other transmission configurations, and more. What I was after was better control, better take off speed, and better top end while not over working the engine. In the end, my Kitt has a very healthy 350 small block, with a T5 World Class manual transmission behind it. Still running a carb though.....I've got a Holly 650 on top of all of it, no cats, but dual flowmaster exhaust. He ain't the fastest car on the road, but I liken him to a Corvette wrapped in a Knight Rider skin. For 30 years old, he runs great.
I see, I have an 84 Z28 ( was my first car 14 years ago) a 91 IROC and a 84' Berlinetta that are completed, but last month, driving through some winding roads on my motorcycle, I spotted a gold mine so to speak, behind an old farm house was a 92' Formula. an 91 formula, a 95 and 96 Transam, one was a formula conversion, and there were 3 V6 F bodies, all pontiac, so I had already did the small blocks, IROC 350 which is stock, and the Berlinetta has an IROC top end, the 84, was actually a LT4/6speed conversion, so I had traveled that road, what started as a joke, which was converting one of the parts cars into a KITT, and, like you said, I am not trying to sound choppy, muscley , I thought that KITT suited more as a quiet, smooth, but powerful type car. I considered everything, even was close to running a Gran National turbo in it, but in the end, it was a 2013 GM V6, out of the new Camaro those push 300ish brake horse power stock, but very smooth and quiet, after some tweaks, and a custom fit powerdyne super charger (19lb boost) which only kicks in at 1800RPMs I have not ordered the KITT interrior kit yet, I did get a great suspension under it , tubed everything, upper A lower A, K member, coil overs, It is in primer at the moment, I am waiting to find a body kit and nose to look like KITT, The new GM V6s are brutal, and with the manual transmission and a RAM racing clutch, short throw shifter, you can get great power about 422bhp with the charger, but I can still go easy and pull off 24mpg on the highway. I make a LT1,4. and 5 conversion, Just the tubular K member though,
I love it!!!
Thanks. :-)
Michael Hyatt Your K.I.T.T. is looking really nice.
Thanks too :-)
Your welcome. If I am in town I hope I could go for a ride with ya...
It is now. :-)
@TBird100636 Hey Dan. I've had similar experiences on the Registries. There are a bunch of my buds on that site too.....but I know they had some issues for a while.....but I can't be more specific than that. I've had posts that I've been unable to send through....and log in lags....but so many of my buds there also post on the Foundation. So...that's where I've been doing my thing mostly. I still dig the Registries though. :-)
Peace man.
Mike
that car is awesome what else can you do with it :)
where did you buy all of your parts from and for cheap, interior, exterior.
Thank you. :-)
@nicolashayaya That's cool. Now you can check em out and see what I'm missing. :-) Peace man.
is that Pontiac manual???
@DJTackTixx Will do. :-)
Thank you very much. :-) I'll pass the message onto KITT too. :-)
Thanks for the nice words.....but I'm sorry....that's one detail my viewers will have to discover on their own.
can you tell me how i can contact bo mcdonald? or the foundation web site?? id really like to get one of those dvds thanks ! dave
I'll message you with the info since we can't post url's or websites here. :-)
Is that steering wheel street legal? Those don't come with airbags I'd imagine.
