Hi Dr. Kopelman, thanks for informing us and saving people's life. I would like to ask you a question , recently i bought sesame oil , apricot kernel oil, snake oil, organic olive oil, sweet almond oil + bemiks bepanten evigen. I will mix all of those and want to apply on my hair three times a week. Do u think it's a good idea, or u wouldn't recommend it at all?
Thank you for your question. Natural oils like sesame, apricot kernel, olive, and almond oil can help with scalp hydration but won’t directly address the root causes of significant hair loss. At 27, your hair thinning might be due to androgenetic alopecia, which often requires treatments like topical minoxidil or oral finasteride for best results. Combining oils with proven therapies may give you better outcomes. If you’re looking for an online prescription, you can visit DermOnDemand.com for guidance. Hi Dr. Kopelman. I have a bottle of organic pumpkin seed oil and the instructions say to leave it on the scalp and hair for half an hour before washing it out. Should I mix it with a carrier oil first even when the instructions does not say to do so? If you do recommend I should mix it with a carrier oil, which one should I use?
Hi Samira, you can use the pumpkin seed you bought and apply it directly to the scalp as directed. However, if you’re concerned about potential irritation or have sensitive skin, mixing it with a carrier oil is a good idea. I recommend using a light carrier oil like jojoba or argan oil for this purpose. Use a 1:1 ratio, leave it on for 30 minutes as instructed, and then rinse thoroughly.
As a hair surgeon, I can say that batana oil is rich in essential fatty acids and known for nourishing the scalp and reducing hair breakage. It’s been used traditionally to support hair health. Arborvitae oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties that might help keep the scalp healthy, although it’s less studied for hair loss. I’d be happy to make a video diving into the benefits of these oils for hair care in more detail. Thank you for asking about them.
@@Poupipoupi-bw2bl I agree that medical options are going to be superior but if you want a natural or organic way to help stimulate hair these are options to explore. Also regardless of whether you take medication for hair loss, using oils for your scalp health will be beneficial.
I have been struggling with growing out my hair and split ends because of my wavy hair. Should I use coconut oil and rosemary oil on my scalp and then apply more coconut oil to my ends or is that overkill?
You didn't really state what your "best" combo recommendation was. Can you please state even ancodotaely what has been your experience as the best combo. Thanks.
The natural DHT blockers I think are the most effective from the list to help stimulate hair growth. I would put rosemary oil and pumpkin seed oil at the top of the list. But the other oils I discussed are still important to help maintain a healthy scalp environment. Let me know if you have any further questions I can help you with!
@@drkopelmancan I apply rosemary oil with pumpkin seed oil with a carrier oil like coconut oil all those three oils one at a time since my hair is shedding after I finished Accutane (as a teenager) and by the way I tried minoxidil for 2 weeks but it was just too much for me my hair thinning and shed was too much my normal hair is thick and healthy know when I brush my hair a lot of hair fall out and I can feel a string from my hair falling all the time my hair has been falling for 4-5 months
Hey dr kopelman, can i use mielle rosemary mint oil directly to my scalp and on my hairs ? Or do i need to use carrier oil with it ? I used to have to very long and thick hair. But now my hair density has reduced so much after medical condition of myositis. And using steroids. Don't know what to do. Hairfall has stopped but density is not improving.
If ur density is not improving I think ur scalp doesn’t like it or ur hair needs time to absorb it in ❤im not a doc but I use it so yaa and plus mielles rosemary oil is infused with coconut oil already so u don’t have to actually worry bout that hope this helps ❤❤❤❤
Hi sir I am from india I had really beautiful long and strong hair But from 1 year i had severe hair loss due to liver infection It still going I don't know what to do to get my hair back I have few baby hair which grew recently Right now my hair is very thin and its my shoulder length
I’m sorry to hear about your hair loss-it can be very distressing. Hair loss after a liver infection is often due to a condition called telogen effluvium, where stress on the body causes temporary shedding. The baby hairs you’re noticing are a good sign that recovery has started. To support regrowth, focus on a nutrient-rich diet (especially protein, biotin, and vitamin D), manage stress, and consider gentle scalp massages to boost circulation. Applying Minoxidil (5%) can also help if you do it daily.
There has been a total of 1 study in Iran that published that paper on rosemary oil. How is this evidence based medicine ? Why are you spreading this questionable products ?
You’re correct-there aren’t countless studies on rosemary and hair loss, but I’ve seen patients respond well to rosemary oil, even though I don’t recommend it as a first-line treatment. Several studies have explored its effects, including: • 2015 Study: Compared rosemary oil to 2% minoxidil for androgenetic alopecia. Both groups saw similar significant increases in hair count after six months. • 2013 Study: Examined rosemary leaf extract alongside 2% minoxidil for hair growth. Both showed comparable efficacy. • 2022 Animal Study: Found rosemary oil produced effects similar to minoxidil in promoting hair growth in rats. While these findings highlight potential benefits, research remains limited, and more studies are needed to fully understand its effectiveness.
Hello dr, I just stopped breastfeeding and I’m looking for something for hair growth again as I lost a lot of my hair during pregnancy and breastfeeding! I tried Mielle rosemary oil and it’s almost 4 months and I haven’t seen that much of an improvement. Are there any other oils or shampoos that work if I have thin hair maybe cuz of my parents as they also have thin hair guessing I took whatever it is they have. I’m really kinda desperate to grow and strengthen my hair back again 😢

Please reply sir this is driving me crazy list four months I am losing my hair from front and crown both and it's driving me crazy the point of thinking of suicide I have seen many doctors no hope
I’m deeply sorry to hear how much this is affecting you. Hair loss can be an incredibly stressful and emotional experience, especially when it feels like there’s no solution in sight. From what you’ve described, it’s possible you’re dealing with telogen effluvium, which can be triggered by factors like low vitamin levels, stress, or scalp conditions such as dandruff. It’s also important to consider other forms of hair loss, such as androgenetic alopecia, which might require a different treatment approach. First, I strongly recommend focusing on restoring balance to your health. Addressing low vitamin B12 and D levels, as well as managing stress, is crucial. Speak with your doctor about vitamin supplements and stress management strategies. For your scalp health, controlling dandruff is key-over-the-counter shampoos containing zinc pyrithione or ketoconazole may help. If your hair loss is persistent, consulting with a specialist experienced in treating hair loss can provide tailored solutions, including oral medications, topical treatments, or advanced therapies like PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma). I want you to know that there is hope, and with the right care, many patients see significant improvement. Lastly, please reach out to someone if you’re feeling overwhelmed or having thoughts of self-harm. You’re not alone, and there are professionals and resources who want to help. Your mental health matters as much as your physical health, and there is always a way forward.
Hi 🤍 first I feel your pain 😢 I really hope your hair grows back even more then before,. I heard that lack of sleep can affect hair. Have you tried going to bed earlier and getting a full 7 hours every night? Stress is a massive factor in hair loss but the good news is that it can get better as you get calmer. 🤍
