I had one of these in the mid 90s. One of the nicest riding bmx bikes Ive ever ridden and I owned a couple dozen. I sold it for 60 bucks, needed gas money for my car when I first started driving. I was told it was #4 produced. It was all original. Years later, I scored one of the first Eastern bikes that a guy was throwing out- his kid outgrew it, and I still ride it. Figure it kinda evened out, but that GT was one sweet bike.
Just came across this video, my GT has same rims and hubs but they’ve faded quite a bit. Mine has uni hammer head seat and had maxy cross crank and red anodized aluminum bars with a V cross bar. Owned it since 1985. Cheers
@K B Just to Correct You-GT won the Nora Cup Vote in 82 and "Claimed" it in 83....However there Was NO VOTE Until Late 83 So HUTCH Won it in 84. Checked With BMX SOCIETY and BMX MUSEUM as Sources. ;-)
raced one of those frames for awhile. all the kids had new frames but that old 1984 gt worked great for me. i raced hutch, quickline, titan, auburn, technique and demo a few other local frames by bassett and another guy in and around lake elsinore frame builders. tbh as a joke i stripped a murray, schwinn and huffy down to frames and put my race parts on and still got podiums.
I still got my original 81 pro frame. Also, have another 81 and a 82 pro, which I built for my son. He never got into it so they all hang in my garage.
@@alloutbikes can't remember which year, but I also got an old skool mini GT. Taught my son how to ride a bike on it. I really wished he got into BMX like I did in the 80s.
I still have my 1982 Sana Cruz GT Nora race bike that I had built for me by Sundance Bikes. The chrome shines like the day it was dipped! The components a collectors dream. By the way: I also have the breaks your looking for. Brand new still in original box. In red!
Send some pictures of your bike. I'd love to post them on our website. If you ever want to sell your brakes I still haven't found found any yet. Thanks for sharing your story!

I just bought an 83 GT Pro with the 82’ brakeless forks. I’m building it up so maybe it will look something close to yours without costing me a fortune. I really dig your bike 🤙
I have an Sept of 82 Nora Cup frame came with faded red shimano three piece cranks the forks i had bought separately cost me more to buy then the frame and cranks did. Picking up some new frame stickers for it because it's missing the chrome GT wing sticker on the lower tube.
Hello I'am in the UK and I'am looking to recreate my 82/3 Black chrome. Was there ever a factory version or should I look to build how I had it?Tuff neck head set, seat stem, chain wheel.Renthal bars,Araya wheels with suntour hubs?
As far as I know they never made a factory version like that. At that time you bought the frame and fork and built it to order with custom ordered parts or what the shop has on hand. I hope that helps. Goodluck 👍
You got a steal of a bargain, that bike prob worth 2-3k as you found it. Looks like you got the 88-90 seat which goes anywhere from 150 and up depending on condition and that seat clamp is a 88-90 clamp which goes for about 100-120 depending. Nice find!!
Quick question J-Dawg : when I'm using a one-piece crank and bolting on the sprocket do I need to use a washer under the bearing nut because I noticed on the old bikes from the '50s and '60s there's there's a big fat washer on there it's about an inch and 3/4 in diameter was that just to help keep the sprocket rigid ? anyway, I I know that's a simple dumbass question but I was just wondering if you had any insight on that ,,,, and if you ever do put a washer between the OPC and the steel sprocket to space the sprocket in or out slightly ,, or to Center your crank arms around framee ? I have a tendency to overthink stuff, but theres definitely a science to setting up a crank "correctly. "okay thank you ,, much appreciation. From norcal. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The big washer is for sprocket alignment or sprocket spacing. Use the washer as needed. If the alignment is good without the washer and the sprocket is not super close to the frame then you don't need it. Thanks for your question.👍
Another great video Jason. By the way, what dId you use to wax the bike with? Whatever it is I want to order a supply. Can you do a video on different types of skateboards and accessories?
I can give you a recommendation - Flitz polish. It is by far the best polish I've used, I like it more than Mothers. You can buy it at ACE Hardware or probably even online.

My conscience is clear. The other guy was passing himself as a (Bike Shop) when he didn't know what he was doing. I also didn't mention in the video that he had a big cheesy smile on his face and chuckled when I gave him the money. He couldn't believe he sold the bike for that much. He closed up because he had so many people coming back because of problems. Besides he was there to sell. I was there to buy. My conscience is clear.
That's a hardcore racing bike, the skinny rims and tires on it are exactly what a top-level racer would have run. Nice story and nice bike 👍
Thank you.
