    Bloody great video mate. Awesome work with the ute and thanks heaps for all of the info! Do you think the tundra rear leafs would still work nicely without being in a press?

    • @HaydnKamp
      @HaydnKamp  2 роки тому +1

      I still think longer leaves are a must for these hiluxs, the factory leaves are incredibly short. With longer leaves you get a better ride and can still run retainers to reduce axle wrap and still get great wheel travel

    • @HaydnKamp
      @HaydnKamp  2 роки тому

      Was really straight forward, just cut the front mounts off and worked out shackle angle and where I wanted the diff positioned and welded the front mounts in. The rear mounts stayed factory

    I have a 95 version of this with 505000km on it so still being run in :-). It is stock standard 2.8 diesel. While there are models of these that came with turbo's unless you have one of these models I would suggest avoiding a turbo as these engines were not originally designed for one so you risk compromising the reliability or longevity of an engine that is known as being bullet proof. While all these modifications may be nice, most are illegal here in Australia and need to be engineered at great expense or risk of being pink stickered and vehicle being put off the road. Mine ran like a slug when I bought it and the first oil change I did, the oil came out the sump like snot. I think anything but a hilux would have died.I ran some Nulon pro strength diesel heavy duty engine treatment through it twice with new oil filters. I have been using Nulon Diesel Guard ( currently only available from Super cheap auto) with every fill of diesel and after getting a 2" lift had to take it in to get the front leafs reset as they were not right, one of the guys said... it goes really well, I thought it was turbo'd. Perhaps this is testament to the Nulon products but I am posting this so others may know what works.One of the worst things you can do with a diesel is not drive them properly as they carbon up. I regularly wind mine out a bit, and 4000rpm is not off the cards and more to clean the engine out as it has not been run properly as it should. As far as Aluminium radiators. They are light and have great conductivity but you need to be careful of the amount of cores for correct cooling. Aluminium does not like vibration and work hardens so would suggest rubber mounts or something to stop vibration being transferred to the radiator or risk stress fractures occurring. I also looked at an aluminium radiator but after working with aluminium for many years managed to get a copper core at a good price so bought one of those instead. Admittedly paid more for it but I intend keeping the vehicle for many more years as they are so reliable. I can suggest doing a radiator flush and checking your viscous fan and thermostat are working properly if you have over heating problems.
