OhMy Gosh!! Carly is reacting to season 6!! Oh My Gosh!! This made my day Carly!! Very nice pick up about the bird creature on Laconia reacting to what the little girl fed it! The thing in orbit around Laconia is the same one we saw at the end of season 5. Filip is in a bad place, and really doesn't know how to deal with his emotions and the guilt he is having. Marco is.....well Marco! I really appreciate the writers incorporating the death of Alex and the stress of six months of war is doing to our crew! Steven Straight ( Holden) lost a lot of weight for this season to show what the physical stress and toll on his body. So good to see your reaction Carly! Welcome back! Can't wait for the next one!
That thing you saw orbiting Laconia is what you saw at the very end of season 5. You see it in Cortazar’s message to Duarte just before the Barkeith is disintegrated in its transit through the ring. Also, you see it in the end credits of that episode. Remember how when Holden unwittingly brought some protomolecule to Illus, it turned on all of the artifacts. Now you know why Duarte was willing to pay such a high price to Marco for a protomolecule sample. The Laconia scenes are something that you don’t see any of until book 7, but I like that they included them so you get to see some of what would be to come if there ever were a movie or more seasons. It’s too bad we can’t see a season 7 and 8, because that’s when we get back to all of the wired alien stuff going on. It gets pretty intense; I think book 8 is my favorite. Finally, you mentioned how tired Holden looked. Steven Strait deliberately lost a lot of weight in preparation for this season to make Holden look tired and spent after so many stressful years trying to save the universe.

On the subject of the time jump: the writers have said that wasn't the main reason the show stopped, which seems to imply funding was the obvious culprit, but who knows. Also, we are told that people (those with access to good health care) live longer lifespans at this point in history compared to our present time. So combine an explanation that brings in anti-aging meds with a little bit of makeup magic and graying of hair across the board and you could have actors from the current cast still show up without it preventing the time jump (which is a necessary narrative trick to accomplish some key things in the final trilogy). Time will tell I suppose, hopefully they pull it off somehow because the final three books are phenomenal.

I know how hard it is to fit stuff in to a busy life and totally understand, but very happy to see you back. It is *not* about the 30 year time jump, though -- nearly everyone involved in the show has said that was not an issue. I think in the end it mainly comes down to economics, really. The Expanse is a very expensive show to produce, and despite what clearly is its growing popularity, it's difficult to make money on this show. Several times, people connected with show have stated that unless a show has a truly huge fan base (think Stranger Things, for instance), the economic landscape associated with streaming make it very hard to not lose money after the third year of airing a show. I don't pretend to understand the ins and outs of this, but it's been said multiple times. There are a lot of rumors out there about other people picking up the show to make, potentially, three additional seasons, or movies, or miniseries, or something. There's so much disinformation out there that it's difficult to figure out what is real, but persistent stories have suggested that both HBO Max and Netflix have expressed interest in picking the show up. It's also been suggested that Amazon shouldn't be counted out yet either, but I think all of this will depend on how much the fan base grows over the next few months. One other thing that's been stated publicly is that Amazon has exclusive rights to air the show for what's been described as a "handful of years" before rights revert to Alcon Entertainment (the studio). There may be some informal discussions about continuing the show going on, but the likelihood of anything being set in stone at this point are slim. Even if something were in the works, they'd probably be contractually prohibited from talking about it until that handful of years expired. But I think most people connected with the show and most of the fan base remain cautiously optimistic that the show will return someday. Here's hoping!

That's why it appeared they were just erased like a chalk board. More to come on that event. Also....Skull Island? Kong was from SI... but was Godzilla? I think in the KK vs Godzilla movie they have Godzilla's origin as SI.....?? But I'm OLD 😝..... and never remember Godzilla and SI being connected. Oh and that guy saying "Earthers now understand how Belters feel." Pretty sure he's the first Belter we see in episode ONE. Which goes back to 2015 😀
So did you or did you not catch the in-character Twitter shit-posting between Keon Alexander and Cara Gee during the course of the season? Holden's appearance of one of their subjects. "Now Earthers know what it feels like to be Belter!" that was the same rabble-rouser we first saw on Ceres in the first moments of the very first episode. Avasarala's aide: "I used to like shooting stars" Avasarala: "I never did." She told us that on her rooftop in the first season. Lots of subtle callbacks. Don't overlook the particular strain that Amos is feeling. He needs to be actively working at "Killing Marco." Otherwise, if they're not even getting paid, he sees no point to it. As far as Amos is concerned, "hero" is not a stable occupation. Let me re-iterate checking out the short Bonus Content featurettes. You have to be using a television with Amazon Fire Stick or watching from the web on a computer or phone. Pause the video, click on the X-ray feature, and go into Bonus Content. There are is a 5-minute video of extra story content corresponding with each of the first five episodes.
I hate to say it, but Amazon really screwed over the writers and fans of the Expanse by limiting the episode count to only 6. I'm not even sure if 10 episodes would have been enough to wrap up all the storylines in this show, so going down to 6 was a massive kick in the nuts! Who would have thought that SyFy would have supported the show better than Amazon Prime with 10 more episodes in the same amount of Seasons??? SMH... : (
The writers have clarified that it was actually COVID overall that caused the need to reduce to 6. All the extra precautions, restrictions, etc. forced Amazon/Alcon to narrow down on 6 episodes to hold the budget. Writers and producers looked at the story, if they could make it work, and they came to the conclusion that it would still be possible to wrap book 6 into 6 episodes... Does it felt a bit tight and rushed? Yes, but i would say it's still a great season. Also, for relative comparison: Book 3 was also completed in 6-7 episodes and S3 second half (well actually all of S3) is considered one of the best TV story ever.

It's not a big deal, it's just that various people from the team -- Ty, Daniel, Naren -- have specifically asked people to please not yell at or be mean to Amazon because they have been great to work with. I believe one of them specifically used the word "lovely" -- Amazon has been lovely to work with. So I'm just passing that on.
