I don't know Carly personally or anything, just a fan since her Black Sails reactions. In one of her last few videos, she mentioned just getting a new job she was really excited about, so I can only assume that she was becoming overwhelmed trying to juggle her career, her personal life, and the channel. At least, I'm hoping it was that simple of a reason. P.S that “b*tch” is the amazing Adm Kirino of the MCRN who was outstanding in the face off against the UNN in the AO near Io in Season 3. PPS: 10:00 - you cut my favourite line from S6, Liang Walker “oh fowkin’ ‘ell”
That episode was great - then-Captain Kirino managed to stop her second in command from removing her from command while Admiral Nguyễn failed to stop Souther from removing him (albeit briefly). It was an interesting contrast of leadership styles. Nguyễn was dictatorial and secretive and forced Souther to remove him. Kirino shared some of her actions - which were arguable treasonous - and explained her reasoning. She didn't fully win over her second, but she placated him enough to keep him in his place.
The unbent unbroken unbowed is probably a wink to AGoT yeah, the writers are friends (there's also a cheeky mirror in the finale, we can mention it once you get there), but more importantly it also echoes a common slogan when it comes to indigenous rights which predates the Martell motto (especially meaningful given that Cara Gee is Ojibwe)
Ty Frank, one of the co-authors of The Expanse, was George R.R. Martin's assistant for many years. George was one of the five original players of The Expanse board game, which started the story. I like to imagine George's character was Shed, and Shed got killed off because George was too busy with HBO and not finishing Winds Of Winter.
The #PolyamBelterFam is indeed a polyamorous marriage, unfortunately not made explicit in the show (I mean it's clear from the bed shots in season 5 that they're all sleeping with each other, but the formal nature of their relationship isn't made explicit, which isn't a huge deal but I think was a miss)

The problem is that Marco is a pathological narcissist who has been gaslighting his son for Filip's entire life and his mother only recently gave him any alternative to the narrative he has been accepting as gospel. So now, as Naomi predicted, Filip is feeling the weight of all of the lives his actions have cost.

I just found your channel and am watching your reactions to The Expanse. I'm still only on the 1st season of your reactions. I want to suggest another show you might like. Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency. It only lasted 2 seasons. I think it's extremely underrated. Very few reactors have watched it. You'll be confused for the 1st couple episodes, but stick with it. "Everything is connected."

You hit the nail on the head with Michio's moment to shine saving Josep's life. They spent the first half of this season framing her as a person that is not cut out for this situation they find themselves in. She's even dismissed by Walker for her bleeding heart in the previous episode with him saying "I can see why you wanted that one off your ship." But there are many common threads in the Expanse, and one of those is that people that seem weak or useless on the surface actually have worth even if we can't see it. People like Prax, Anna, Monica, Elvi, Lucia... though they are not apparently valuable in the beginning, sometimes seeming like burdensome characters, they all brought value and changed the outcome of situations for the better with their actions and insight.
Michio's arc showed us that everyone has their gifts, has something to offer; the tricky part is in figuring out what it is, and then putting it to best use.
@@m.bennett I think that scene brings depth to every previous moment Michio failed to meet her people expectations earlier in the season. Now, we know she can deal with stressful situations, with blood, with violence, with hurting people. I think the thing she can't deal with is conflict. She shines when everyone is in the same team.

I must say that for me, the Michio/Joseph scene is one of the most brutal scenes in recent memory. Because it looks so real. Nothing over the top, just raw emotions and very realistic prop.

I still think Holden disarming the missile that Bobbie launched was a selfish move. Naomi could have disarmed the missile herself, but she was clearly allowing it to happen. But these folks are not perfect...we know that.
If Holden had told Amos his reason for not killing Marco, he still would not have acted differently. After all, Marco (the Pella) was trying to kill them. Remember at the end of Season Three Amos was ready to kill Bobbie rather than let her kill him and his crew.

My take on Filip at this point is he is struggling within himself between how his father has raised him and the things Naomi said to him last season. He really wants to believe the things Marco has been telling him all his life, but more and more he is starting to see that the things Naomi told him about Marco might be true.
Since the first drop of Season Five, Camina's crew has been referred to as "the poly-am Belter fam." Michio Pa may not be a Warrior, however, she is one hell of a combat medic. It is too bad that Oksana left them when Camina really needed her.

That guy on Laconia that was talking to Cara (the little girl) is Winston Duarte; he’s pretty much king on Laconia. If there’s ever a screen adaptation of the later books, you’ll see a lot of him. The name Michio came from the books character Michio Pa, who is one of the books characters that the TV version of Drummer is based off of. TV Drummer is a combination of three books characters: Michio Pa, Carlos “Bull” De Baca (recall there was a “Bull” in season 5) and, you guessed it, Camina Drummer. Holden’s reason for disarming the torpedo is a rare moment where he did something selfish, against the greater good. He spared Philip so that it would not put a strain on his relationship with Naomi. Sparing the Pella allowed Marco to continue his reign of terror, which could cost thousands of lives or more. Those people have mothers too, but Holden doesn’t know any of them. Both Amos and Naomi called him out for it.
