I am amazed at how many folks don't realize you need to do things like this to keep a vehicle running smoothly. Simple things like this and regular oil changes will keep a car or truck running for a long time. Thanks for sharing. Just did this on my 2016 F150 a few months ago.
Yea I know. It really is crazy. I did think my plugs were going to make it longer as I'm used to them lasting 80-100k. After I replaced them I literally picked up about 2mpg!
I heard somewhere that it’s not recommended to re-gap iridium plugs so you don’t scrape the electrode and they come pre-gapped. Did you re-gap yours and did they all come pre-gapped consistently?
That may be true. I did regap mine. They were all consistent but I needed to open them up some. I believe the set I bought is more frequently used on supercharged or turbocharged engines. Runs well for me
@@kalebwaddell8200 Glad I could help! No I didn't have the TSB done at a dealer to try and improve it. It's probably something I should do. I've just been watching it and adding as required. If you get it done, let me know the results you get.
NOTE!!! It is generally not recommended to lubricate spark plug threads these days. The torque value will not be correct. The plug will also back out if not torqued enough. Ask me how I know this!!!! Been there....done that!!! Towing a camper in the middle of nowhere and my plug blew out. After a little research I concluded that I did not torque the plugs enough and I also put lube on them which is not correct procedure. Smackey thanks for taking the time to make this video but please remake it correctly.
You do make a good point that you probably don't need to lubricate the latest plugs that already have a nickel coating on them. I'll see if I can add a note that says it is up to you to do it. Some people do it, some people don't. I've always added anti-seize to my plugs and have never had an issue with any of them. Aluminum, Cast Iron, and have always used it. Now i use it sparingly, not a massive amount.
I’m pretty sure those aren’t the right plugs. I looked them up to see if they fit mine. I have a 2018 f150 lariat sport 5.0 crew cab. Everywhere I looked those do not fit mine or your application. Also link for spark plug tester
Interesting. The 5Star tuning site has them listed as the correct plug for the truck, but I did have to regap them larger to match the recommended gap. Based on some quick research, I see some websites recommending it for 11-17 5.0 F150s but the Mustangs do recommend it for the 18 with the 5.0. I guess I'll report back how they are holding up after 10k/20k miles. I added the spark plug link to the description of the video. Thanks for the feedback and checking on that!
@@SmackeysGarage no problem at all currently been going through a lot of work on mine right now she falls flat on her face when accelerating at stop. I definitely need to replace mine I have 86,500 give or take. Even with bad plugs right now she is still super strong
Hope you get it solved! I was surprised at how worn mine were at about 80,000. I also added the recommended OEM plugs to the description as well. SP589. Hopefully the plugs are the culprit for you.

Great job! I sure am glad Ford got it right on these engines! My Dad had a Triton engine in a Ford truck and changing the plugs was a nightmare!👍
Yea I’ve heard about those 5.4s…. Thanks Mitch!
Awesome video brother. Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Enjoy your weekend. Much love and RESPECT
Thanks Tim! Have a great weekend as well!
I am looking for how you will do on Spark plug #4 on the P side
Standing on a box with a extension that barely fits.
Thank you bro 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Thanks for watching!
Manual says to replace them @ 100K miles under normal driving conditions.
I would say what I drive are normal driving conditions. I'm surprised at how worn they were.

made it look easy
Yea! Wasn’t too bad of a job
Nice Mustang
Thank you!
What do you mean stumble on the road? I just got a CEL and my code says random misfire, kinda jerky when shifting gears
I’d start with plugs. How many miles on your truck. After about 60,000 mine were shot.
I have a similar issue with my 2018. Same codes and a loud knock/rattle when increasing RPMs on occasion. 93k miles.
Do you have any oil consumption issues with your 18’ 5.0?
Yes, my truck consumes a lot of oil. I check and top it off every 1000 miles or so.
@ same here.. did you ever try to do the tsb update a dealer? Thanks for the video it helped me a ton do my plugs today.
