Great job by Horner and the engineers. When someone is clearly in the zone, you don't tell them what to do. Just ask Kimi.

His performance this race is one for the history books. Pure masterclass in the wet put on by a 19 year old, it just blows my mind every time I see it.

Unpopular opinion: 2016 was a dope season.
The Hamilton vs. Rosberg rivalry, the emergence of Max Verstappen, Danny Ric finishing 3rd in the championship, Romain Grosjean carrying Haas, Force India had their best ever season, Sauber and Manor fighting to not finish last, and good racing on top of that.
Samuel Santos and FLoz’s “Silver War”. That actually brought me into F1

In wet conditions when driving skill is more important than car, Max easily outperforms everyone.
But unfortunately, from 2016 to 2020 his car simply couldn't deliver. Otherwise he'd have 4 WDCs by now.
@@cinegraphics Yes I agree fully

@@KneppaH let's hope he can continue that way for many years to come.

Absolute confident off the line.
Haoran Overeem that’s where the grip is... the racing line has rubber and wet rubber has less grip
@@glorious_help it is more the fact that most corners are banked, so water just flows on the inside line, while the outside has less standing water. Probably one of the greatest's wet drives ever. Epic for such a young talent at the time.
i'm a Hamilton fan, but this guy has the skills to be a worthy champion. This race was an exception display of his talent.
It reminded me of Hamilton in Silverstone '08. Though Lewis didn't have to charge through the field, the level of control in the wet when everyone else was losing it showed his brilliance. Max's drive didn't surprise me - check out his F3 race (all 3 races IIRC) in Germany. He was on rails while everyone else was all over the place, including the safety car at times. It was his first year racing cars. I'd already been seriously impressed by his clean sweep at Spa the previous time out, but Germany was something else. It was what got him the TR drive.
Imo every f1 should also be a hamilton fan because of his world class performance and character, on and off the track (this is coming from verstappen fan)
He's better than Hamilton. Let's keep it that way

I watch F1 since the eighties, when I was a young kid and have sharp memories of the battles between Senna and Prost, Mansell’ fights for championships and the first race and upcoming of Schumacher. This race however is the only race I ever looked back. And it gave me goosebumps again. What a drive!
That save around 1:14 is a work of art. I couldn’t believe it when seeing it live.
did anyone recognise how the race engineer always said the last name, except for Seb's?
the love was still there
Kimmi ?
scrolled far too down to find you ahah
He said Daniel somewhere
He never worked with Seb though at Red Bull Racing. He was Kvyat’s race engineer at Red Bull Racing. He did work with Perez at Force India
Out of all these overtakes my favorite has to be the one on Vettel. Like, man, it was so clever, Max's like: "Aight, I am going to the outside and will *definitely* overtake Seb there. And here I am, going for the overtake, *definitely* commiting for the outsi-psyche, gotcha, you've just fallen into my trap, now - off you go".
And the little battle that they had leading up to this also made it better. Gosh, what a performance. Honorable mentions are definitely that overtake on Rosberg and the one at the end, I think it was Ocon, right?
The one in the end was Perez. Ocon was driving for Minardi in 2016 iirc.
