Black Carpet Dye | Duplicolor Spray Paint

- I used duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint to dye my carpet and it came out amazing! I was going to use RIT dye but on their website they state that it's not recommended to use it on carpets because if you don't maintain the pressure/heat necessary. Then the dye will bleed off and start wearing away. That won't be an issue with paint.

I need a update. How’s it holding up a year later and any issues with bleeding or getting on your clothes/shoes.
Facts
I know this was a year ago, but just in case you come back, I can tell you that I did the same thing on my car, and its held up perfectly to every day abuse ,and a normal cleaning routine for 5 years, going on 6 now. Never had a single bit of paint transfer on shoes or anything. I did my cloth seats as well and they’ve also held up just as good although it took them a little longer to soften up. I stand by this product all day and ive been using it for over 15 years on multiple projects.

Luckily my carpet is black on my dark grey charger but seats and roof liner is tan 😂😂😂 I sooo want to spray it black but waaaay toooo much work

The killmat is a great product for stopping vibrations in the sheet metal more stick down foam would be better for sound

fabric paint is basically spray on dye tho. it shouldnt leave it crunchy.
Thanks for the video.. Question: After been painted and dried, can you do a regular clean/wash? Like if got dirty after few weeks then you want to do regular wash or do foam cleaner... Does the paint come out? Thanks!

Figure about 1 day per coat for paint to cure.

I did it on an E36 Grey carpet . Same color and brand.
It worked out great on the dash and door panels . On the carpet, not so much.

I literally did this today. Rit doesn't cut it. N the dupli color one is so light that leaves marks. Unless u doing helllllaaaaa coats. So i did actual spray paint (black primer better). My shit looks jank ish. Imma wait till fully dry n try to brush it a lil
Thanks for sharing this. Now I realise there is prep 🤭 required. Off topic, i saw a product called 'mulch glue' its an application that you can spray on the likes of the white stones in your driveway and although water still penetrates the stones will stay put and not go on to the cement

Ur whine is a bad ground or a ground loop. If the later there's a ground loop isolator gadget. Beef up ur main 3 grounds off battery and consolidate ground points

Did you have to pressure wash your carpet again after you applied the vinyl & fabric spray? To wash off any excess
I wish I would've done mine this way because I dyed mine with Rit and black ribs onto everything it touches in the car

this duplicolor paint works really well on door cards or center consoles. just gotta make sure you use a scotch brite to scuff it all up before hand

Next time try brushing in between layers of paint. It helps to keep it from becoming crunchy
i tried it but it was drying so quick. maybe if i did smaller sections and brushed right after it would work but i didn’t find it very worth it to do that since the carpet has that rip on the driver side

I always put my automotive carpet in the washing machine then I ha g it on the c,other line then .ay it in the sun the spray paint it paint I mix different colors till I get as close a match as possable with old body shop inventory, so the cost is reduced . When you have 30 cars you have to cut costs.

Used car for sale no funny smell, we all know what that funny smell means it's black people's cars. I used to work at a shop and having to move black custo er cars from a hot summer par,ing lot into the shop was a coin toss what mechanic lost and had to do the awful moving the car into the shop OMG funny smell with the radio blasting a black ministeri the radio....
