2023 Fall Plant Sale | Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, AZ
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- We are back at the Desert Botanical Garden to go cactus, succulent, and pottery shopping at the 2023 Fall Plant Sale! There are two sales that take place each year at the garden, once in the fall and once in the spring. It never gets old because the inventory is different every time. I can never make it to the first day of the sale because I have to work during the week, but maybe next time I'll plan ahead and take the day off because I heard the best pickings are at the opening of the sale. Someday!
This year we also have Mark Muradian pottery back at the sale. It turns out that they used to have pottery vendors before the pandemic and since I'm a pandemic cactus person, I didn't know how things were pre-pandemic.
I believe this is my second longest video ever! I hope you enjoy walking through the sale with me as we see what cactus and succulents are up for grabs this year.
BTW, attending the sale requires online reservations (it's a free reservation). Botanical Garden members get 10% off plants and there's no sales tax.

Really appreciate that you take the time to make and share a 1 hr 28 min video. So interesting to see all the cacti that are growing out there.
Yay! This makes it all worthwhile! Thank goodness many of you seem to appreciate these long ones 💚💚💚
Ha! That's my challenge! I can't go "window shopping" at nurseries, it's impossible and my wallet is always lighter coming home. But there is nothing more fun than going plant shopping!
I'm glad I'm thousands of miles away in the UK because I would definitely bankrupt myself if I was to visit that market. Beautiful selection of plants and I'm impressed with those reasonable prices. Thank you for making this video.
😂😂😂 it's such a struggle! I guess the fact that I have limited space at home is probably a good thing. I'm so happy you enjoyed this shopping trip!
Found it therapeutic 😅 thank you for sharing 😊
Love this comment so much! Plant shopping therapy 😊💚
I didn't have time to watch this one when it first came out, but now I got a chance! Heavenly tour, thank you,...

Thank you for the tour of the sale. I don't get to see cactus much where I live in the Great White North. My collection stays in the basement under lights for the winter.
That's so cool that you can grow cactus and succulents up in the Great White North! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video. I get so excited every time one of these sales takes place.

Awesome video. Thanks for your hard work in the hot sun. Very good job 👍🏽
It'll be nice when the umbrella will no longer be needed as it cools off. But then I'll probably be complaining about how cold it is 😂 💚💚💚

New sub, love this Chanel ❤
This warms my 💚 Thank you 🙏
Finally finished this walkthrough! I lost so many aloes this summer too. Some I thought were going to make it but they ended up turning to mush once the weather cooled down
Wow, you made it! This was a long one! Ughhhhh I'm not buying anymore aloe for the time being. So sad that they melted in the heat... Sigh. Are you in Phoenix too?
Do a video of what you ended up buying, please.
Yes I second this!! Please
I'm planning on it! My 2023 new years resolution to buy more plants is still going strong 😆
❤❤❤❤❤

Cute Cantu's 🌵
Why thank you!
I love your shopping videos and nursery tours so much! Thank you for taking us with you, so to speak. Though I must say, every time you see an extra cute plant you want and you don't immediately put it in your cart to safeguard there, I get a bit stressed for your sake bc I fear someone else will take it before you come back to it 😅
I appreciate the what-if-someone-takes-the-plant anxiety! And it's not unwarranted because it has happened before - I walked away and the plant was gone when I returned. I'm so glad you enjoy these shopping/your videos!
I wouldn't know what to choose, especially on those pots!!
Omg such a struggle, Terry!
Thanks for another one of these great videos. I appreciate the great quality and commentary. I need to come next year.
Yes!! You have to come to the next sale in the spring! You'll have an absolute blast. Thank you for the positive feedback on the video and commentary, sometimes I feel like I'm blabbing my head off because I'm so excited about the plants 😆
@@cookiescacti In the cities up north, like Chicago and NY, there's a growing demand for exotic plants - both desert and tropical. They get put indoors or in conservatories. I should come with a van and load up a few thousand dollars worth in the last couple days when they gotta get rid of extras - maybe at a discount. Or if not, regardless.
@@MixMasterMaj Definitely bring a van! I know there are people who bring vans from other states and do the rounds through the nurseries and even big box stores in Arizona. I remember running into one of these buyers at Arizona Cactus Sales, his van was filled with plants!
@@cookiescacti Yeah, it can be profitable if you have reliable plant shops to buy from you. I have to check with them first. I wish that was my job, just doing long interstate drives to collect cacti and selling them. Haha.
🐲🀄🍀 loved the trip
💚💚💚 I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!
Thanks for the tour around the sales lot. You would think the prices were better if you lived here in Atlanta.
You're very welcome! Wait, are you saying the cactus prices are better in Atlanta? Any nurseries you recommend??
The prices here are much higher. You probably filmed more plants than are available in the combined area. Several million people, but few apparent cacti.
"Oh my god I think my ankles are burning." Continues filming. How to tell when you've reached addict status.
😂😂😂 I am so dedicated 😁
While you're there can you get me one of those platyclauda dead stick thingys.
😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂
I'm with you - id go bankrupt here!
😂😂😂 my heart is happy but my wallet is not
Very beautiful! Is this inside the garden or somewhere in the parking lot? Where is this shop located?
It is in the back part of the parking lot at the Desert Botanical Garden. You can't miss it on the days of the sale with many volunteers/employees guiding traffic.
I’m sad I missed the sale. Do you know when the spring sale usually is?
It was in March this year. I hope you can make the next sale!
@@cookiescactisame!!
Can we order online from them?
This particular event is in-person only. However, the vendors that are supplying the plants may be able to sell retail online. Most of them are wholesalers so you may need to reach out to them via email. For example, Arid Adaptations, Peterwplants.
Monstera Very Gated Monstera Elbow Monstera Delicia cuttings I want in Pakistan what is the price?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with houseplants, so I don't know. I'm all cactus and succulents.
You''re not required to film every single plant. The algorithm gives points for people finishing the video. This thing is long. I made it, but I was tired like you were by the end. You talk so much about killing plants. I doubt it as bad as you let on. very few perish in Tucson. You are very hot in Phoenix. Mostly, we have to keep tabs on wildlife that threatens things here. Javalinas, rabbits, etc. But great to see the sale. It looks marvelous.
I've had a really tough battle with thrashers destroying my plants and seedlings this year but I finally got it under control with full on barricading my grow spaces. I've had many plants die on me but also many that have thrived. The ones that die I tend not to try again. Maybe once my poor memory kicks in I'll try again 😁. Thanks so much for tuning in! My long shopping videos seem to be the most popular amongst my viewers so far. They require a lot of time and effort to make but I think it's worth it in the end.
14:36 thats a bobmycina.. Ooh they scamminggg
so it is not perezdelarosa? how do you know? thanks
I'm pretty sure it's correctly ID'd. The two species have a lot of similarities (because I have both), but they do differ in shape and spine color which I can see looking back on the video.
@@mikec1096 I'm almost certain it's perezdelarosa...
You always saying you lose your plants😂
😂😂😂 I was so afraid someone would think my cart was abandoned and take it away!
Gees. Unless you are interested in buying a plant - DONT TOUCH IT!😊
I'm confused on this comment. I'm at a plant sale so I could potentially be buying any plant and there are no signs stating nor employees/volunteers saying that touching the plants is not allowed. Plus I was very respectful in my gentle squeezes to check the health of the plants and I didn't touch anything with farina on it so as to not ruin the look of the plant. So I don't think I did anything wrong here.
