The most challenging aspect of growing many indoor plants is watering them. You can't simply shower them all at once; instead, you must water each pot individually. This process can be quite time-consuming.
I can’t believe I stuck through this whole video, but he has so much knowledge and wow what an interesting collection of succulents! I couldn’t stop watching! Thank you for bringing this to us!
I absolutely loved this video. I could listen to Gene talk for hours! So knowledgeable! I am glad he didn't get rid of that giant eucalyptus tree. Its shadow creates different growing conditions and that's always a good idea (plus, I live in Australia and have a soft spot for our magnificent trees) 🌿
I visited there back in the 90's when I lived in Tucson. A wonderful nursery. So happy to see the welwitschia's doing well. Amazing Tour - Thanks to Gene and Summer for bringing us the desert's glory at its best.
I'm a landscaper in South Carolina. I recently found a love in cacti / succulents. they're pretty cool. I've got most in pots, but some are actually in ground. Thanks to this video I now know how to take care of most of them. I don't know what it's called yet, but I've got one aloe that has red spines that I've had indoors in a window for the past 3 years. I took it outside last spring and it has grown four times the original size in flowered like crazy attracting honey bees and even hummingbirds.
Ahhhh! I love Plants for the southwest. I live in Phoenix and travel to Tucson often to go look at every beauty they grow. It’s such a special place and I hope it lives on for a very very long time.
Gene and Jane are generous for sharing knowledge they've learned from experience over decades of intimate observations of their plants. Many of their plants can be challenging and take patience to grow from seed. I'm glad you could share their story with the world :)
I've been watching your channel since 2020. I have been wishing for you to see and spread the knowledge about our wonderful nurseries in Tucson! They truly are wonderful.
Здравствуйте,привет из России, из Сибири.. У Вас очень интересно, мужчина имеет отличную коллекцию растений пустыни, он увлеченный кактусовод! Здоровья ему. ❤❤
I'm so happy to see you went here. It's one of my fav places to take a day trip to. Definitely worth the 2 hr drive from Mesa. He's the only one who grows Caralluma Socotrana from seed in the area. Such a huge collection of amazing species. HIGHLY recommend
fantastic collection, unbelievable variety! unimaginable not to lose the overview. I have never seen such a collection. the man has incredible knowledge! Thank you for showing me. greetings from Germany.
I wouldn't even know where to begin to comment on any plants that I enjoyed the most. Such a wonderful nursery and garden! I did enjoy hearing about the echinocereus viridiflorus which he mentioned Big Bend Ranch State Park just 17 miles from me. I did not realize that was a native cacti so that is going on my list of one to purchase at some point. One thing he mentioned was the toll the UV and aridity play on labels. I can't keep a label for more than a couple of years before they become brittle and snap at the slightest touch an d then there goes any info that was listed. Also, many people not from this area think of desert plants and the term 'no water' go together. Even heat can become too much for some cacti. Like the Saguaro that last Summer were dropping arms as well as collapsing due to the extreme temps. Thank you again for the fantastic and informative tours!
loves long Summer… videos. so far only Sean from onlyplants make super long videos. hope Summer can visit him some days. two of my most fav. plantubers.
What a fantastic tour!! So many wonderful plants but I have to say that my most favorite are the Lithops. I really like the way Gene displays the cacti/succulents.
So glad you did a tour of Gene and Jane's place. I visited there a few years ago and they were kind enough to give me a tour of the back greenhouses. I was amazed by all the conophytums, lithops and other unusual genera. It was the first time I saw welwitschia. Thanks for the tour of their wonderful nursery.
Thanks for another great vid. Love the southwest because the landscape is so different than NY. The desert museum is a very cool place to visit if youre in Tuscon! ✌
I love watching this show for the first time I wish I had a greenhouse like his but all of my plants and I just was introduced to desert Rose which like a cactus but it is not attractive you have to grow it like one you succulent soil I love the new discovery of plants that is my hobby love it love it love it
Thank you both for this.Absolutely amazing and I loved learning and seeing all his plants.I’d love to visit to come to the USA from Australia to witness such hard work and dedication from these types of growers.Wealth of knowledge. Thanks again both of you, very enjoyable.
I live in Tucson, AZ and didn't know this place existed. I bought my first adenium in February and it's the only plant I have that is thriving through the excessive heat this summer.
❤I like your productivity. So much cacti and succies in last videos, great.👍 For me are cacti a real good indicator for the dessert climate and a great example of how important a stable climate is for the evolution of them. And how they live in this climate symbiotic .In perfect desert climate they can survive many dry conditions or hurts. But indoor u need in northern hemispheres a glasshouse to get them big. And the get easier sick also indoors.... They are challenging P.S; The Mojave desert burns😢
I'd love to get some diacotoma cuttings . Any aloe cuttings. I'm super stoked with my speckled aloe that began rotting from the root and lost leaves cutting the bottom off, fought it for months trying not to lose it and one leaf rooted faster than the rest. It's pushing 4 pups now and I'm amazed by it. I've got a 20 year old euphorbia mammallaris variegata that I was gifted and it's just so rare to see things like this in the South East
At 1:18:34 about the Cytocarpa edulis . I've heard that some trees tend to produce more seed when stressed. I guess it's a natural mechanism of plants to ensure survival of the species. Maybe the tree was already stressed out and slowly diminishing and was why it suddenly started producing all that seed. Could it be that the heat was just what pushed the plant over the edge from an already existing ailment? Im just a plant rookie and just sharing my thought. Great video.
This video indicates that the nursery is in Tucson and specializes in plants for this area, but the website link shows the nursery is in New Mexico, what gives?
SRO for (plant) president: “I came in the door, I said it before, I never let the cacti spines scare me no more…” (A little hip hop remix from ‘Eric B for president’)
there is something about your videos that hurt my eyes. I am not sure if its motion blur or camera shakiness, but whenever the camera moves around I get slight dizziness
This is like getting to watch a Netflix movie on my favorite subject. Love the long videos. Thanks Summer!
"I don't get tired of watching even if it's very long because I enjoy what I'm watching. Thank you for this summer."
Gene and Jane are the best! Extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and a staple of the cactus community in Tucson.
Incredible collection of cactus and succulents. Super impressed with the gentleman’s extraordinary depth and breadth of knowledge.

HERMOSO ESTA ABIERTO AL PÚBLICO
I like to use moss I've collected when repotting my ferns and epiphittes, for moisture retention. Do you think that's wise?😊
Nice❤👍
Que belleza!
So, does he use a kitchen tongs with silicon tips to move those little prickly peeky🌵 plants?
@24:18 are those chopped Astros?
YESSS OMGG!!!
saw the tree at 31:05 and instantly recognised as an aussie native...
