All I want to do is scream and shout about my love for cactus and succulents! Instagram wasn't enough so here I am with my cat, Cookie, sharing our plants, touring local gardens and nurseries in Arizona, and more. I am new to making videos so bear with me as I learn to use my camera and figure out what it can and cannot do.

Plant Shopping at the Euphorbia Mecca: Arid Lands Greenhouses Tour | Tucson, Arizona
Переглядів 3,4 тис.16 годин тому
If you watched my 7 hour video repotting 500 Astrophyum seedlings, you may recall that I went to a nursery in Tucson in the middle of all the repotting (or maybe you didn't and I don't blame you LOL). Well, that nursery was Arid Lands Greenhouses. I cannot believe the sheer variety of plant genera that Arid Lands carries, many that I've never heard of. Although Arid Lands is probably most well-...

Dream Pottery Unboxing: First Purchase + Surprise Bonus Item Unveiled!
Переглядів 59821 день тому
I recently discovered a pottery artist, Mark of Dream Pottery. I saw one of Mark's posts on Instagram showing a beautiful Euphorbia staged in his own pot and I was sold. His page lead me to his shop in Palmstreet where I ordered one pot. (This video has no affiliation with Palmstreet. It's just me sharing things that I like.) A few days later two boxes showed up at my door. I was puzzled becaus...
Repotting 500+ Cactus Seedlings in 5 Minutes! | 13 Hours of Footage Sped Up 200x!
Переглядів 1,1 тис.28 днів тому
This video was compiled from over 13 hours of footage shot over a period of 6 days. It features repotting over 500 Astrophytum cactus seedlings grown in the "Cactus Seed Soil Battle" series. Stay tuned for the release of the full extended version of the repotting video. It is a monster of an editing project that I am still working on. At this point, the video sits at over 7 hours after the firs...

Unboxing a surprise cactus gift from a viewer
Переглядів 1,4 тис.Місяць тому
I cannot believe how amazing my viewers are. One of my viewers reached out to me on Instagram saying she had purchased a couple of plants for a good price. She somehow knew that the plant is one of my dream plants (which I have no idea how she could have ever known). And then she insisted on gifting me a plant as an early Christmas gift with nothing expected in return. A short while later I rec...

Cactus seed soil battle! | Episode 12: 1 year update & series finale
Переглядів 1,7 тис.Місяць тому
*THIS GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED* UPDATE 11/24/2024: I am now working on repotting the Astros and found a HUGE mistake! The labels for Uni-Gro and MG Seed Starter Perlite had been swapped! So it is not Uni-Gro that did the best amongst the commercial (non-premium) soils in tray #1, it is the MG seed starter mix that did the best! This also changes some of the observations between tray #1 and tray #2 wh...
Aftermath of the HOTTEST summer in Arizona history | Post-summer cactus & succulent update
Переглядів 3,2 тис.2 місяці тому
Summer 2024 can be summed up in three words: record-breaking heat. We clocked in at 142 days at 100F/37C or higher with 70 days at 110F/43C or higher. Even worse were the overnight lows. We experienced more than a month where overnight lows stayed at 90F/32C or higher. I forgot to mention in the video that we also got almost no rain this summer! The much needed monsoon storms never arrived. So ...
2024 DBG FALL PLANT SALE | Cactus, succulent, and pottery shopping ft. @Spinesnclay
Переглядів 9 тис.2 місяці тому
The DBG Fall Plant Sale began on Thursday and by the time it was my turn to shop on Saturday, inventory was already low. They were already shrinking the retail area space and consolidating plants. Bill @spinesnclay had roughly 50 pots left after starting with over 200! But despite all this, we still had a lot to cover and we managed to break the record for the longest video that I have ever pos...

A viewer reached out to me that he was letting go of some of his Ariocarpus, including one oldie, and asked if I was interested in purchasing them. I couldn't say no. ❤ Love these shopping tours. Thank you! Hope your 2025 is a wonderful year for growing.
These videos are such a delight! Thanks for taking us along for a ride!
Love this tour!!! So many beautiful Mammillarias 🫶🏻
Happy New Year!!! Wishing you, Cookie, and your cacti the very best for 2025!
thanks so much
They really have revamped their nursery. It looks much more professional and attractive.
Thank you for the tour and Happy New Year from Florida
Do you have any info on your cacti soil mix or the top dressing you use for most of your stuff? Looks great.
I do! I have a video on my soil mix, in short 3 parts pumice to 1 part cactus mix: ua-cam.com/video/Ebh2cEFDGNc/v-deo.htmlsi=KlmBEMFC1V906cys. My favorite top dressing is decomposed granite. Those community pots have a mix of all sorts of rocks, leftovers from nursery pots, rocks from my parents yard, DG, whatever I had lying around.
So many amazing specimens, thank you! 🌵
I didn't know that I had a Melocactus Warasii...now I know 🤣I bought it for it's vicious golden/brown spines! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year. Thank you for taking us along. It's nice to see such beautiful and different plants.
Happy New Year!!
I hate that drive through Tucson to get there.
I feel like it was only yesterday that i visited B&B....oh wait it was! 😂 so awesome to meet you at plants 4 the SW yesterday afternoon. My wife was the one that recongnized you and i turned and looked and in my mind shouted Jenny!!!🎉 sorry if i was weird at all,i feel like i can be a little socially awkward at times 😅 anyhow, cheers and as always thank u for the awesome content you create for all of us to enjoy.
Oh my goodness, not at all! I'm the one who's awkward lol. I have run into cactus folks at nurseries who I follow on social media and approaching them to say hi. If I ever see Ana from cactus caffeine or hunter from cactus quest I will completely fan-girl out. It was so cool to finally meet you in person and in Tucson of all places of course. Hope you got some good stuff on your trip!
That's a terrific choice (thanks for the opuntia pan), and well priced. I'm definitely pro buying time for money, especially the columnars: some of those plants are beautiful. If you budget well, you can have some very impressive specimens (but that takes planning). Happy New Year. Nice Eriosyce buy, and that Melocactus is gorgeous.
I want that crested cactus ❤
Great video; A+. I’d love to go there. Thanks so much for not larding up your video with lots of noisy music and editing. My favorite videos are simple, quiet ones like this.
Thank you so much for the feedback! Good thing you like the simple style because it makes it much easier on me during editing. Hope you get a chance to visit B&B some time!
Candy for my eyes !! Thank you Do they use only Inorganic substrate for their cactus ?
wowwwwwwwwwwwwww ‼️ ‼️ ‼️ I have prick envy, however I would be in astronomical trouble if I lived anywhere near B&B 😅😅😅 At least I know where to go if I ever want a whole thelocactus collection 🙌🙌🙌 Thanks for taking us along 👍
I love B&B cactus is like disneyland for cactuseros ❤️😏🫣
Love B&B CACTUS!
Thanks for sharing your cactus shopping trips. Watching your videos really helps me with my depression. I love cacti but I only have a few small ones since I can't afford them. These videos are great!
Best nursery in the state! Great staff and selection!
I just L❤VE going shopping w/u❗ I can't believe it's already been 2 whole years since we ;last visited B&B! Wow.... Thanks again for taking me w/u! It's really nice cuz u know I can't get out much & we don't have cactus nurseries within 4 hrs of me, so it's always nice to go with U 😊 Im with ya on the soft succulents! They are pretty and all but I can't keep them alive, I've had my fair share of deaths. I think it's the heat here too, getting in triple digits every summer. Yeah, pass on by those succulents lol You have Amazing will-power! I would be having a FIT and taking out every credit card I have at the ready! Lol, u help give me encouragement & I am out of room too also. Think about when it's time to report our cacti I'm another year or 2! They say every 3-5 years. I have dates on all my tags, I guess I will cross that bridge when I get there. I will be writing u soon. Don't think I've forgotten about u! I sure do appreciate what u did for me, more then I prolly know/realize. Hope u had nice holidays. Tell Cookie I said Hello & give her a kiss from me. Thanks Jenny, we love u!!! Sincerely, Anita
B & B is amazing-never get tired of going there! Always see something new-
6:06 -->Coleocephalocereus aureus, endemic to Brasil, Minas Gerais, rare in collection
THANK YOU for the ID! I've been wondering for the past 2 years what that plant is, you finally solved the mystery!
@@cookiescacti i have 2 small ones here in Hungary, but they like to die under 15 celsius, so not easy plants
Amazing project. Congratulations 🌵🌵🌵
You have a beautiful obesa collection ❤️❤️❤️
I love your channel
I have propagated a seed and it is very long
Wow so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Great! 🤩
Thank you! 😃
i just want too grow them at my fence line lol!
That is probably smart 😁
Well this was insane. Nothing even remotely like this in Australia - and just so casually wandering past plants that are almost impossible to obtain down here. Great vid, super jealous.
Ohhh which ones are difficult to get in Australia? I'm really glad you enjoyed this one. I'm super happy to be able to share.
Your no ID Cactus looks like Echinocereus penalophus to me. Commonly called lady finger. Very generous with it's large purple flowers.
Thank you for the ID! I've seen many of them at nurseries around town.
Love your videos. About the bugs you were talking about, my guess is that they are called psocids, a harmless little creature referred commonly as plant lice.
Thank you for identifying the bugs! They show up in almost every pot of soil where I sow seeds. I just let them be.
Any random plant gift when you’re a plant collector might be a bad thing. But a wishlist plant gift…wow
Right?? I still can't believe Anita's generosity
Thanks Jenny for the tour! I have purchased from them a few times so it's cool to see their nursery! Amazing volume of plants easily looks like an all day exploration!😮 Chaotic video!😂 All good! Thanks! Happy New Year!❤🎉
Happy new year, James! I feel like you can stand in one spot and just stare for an hour in order to see everything. We can expect no less than chaos on this channel 😂😂😂
Not great not terrible
☢️☢️☢️ 😸😸😸
Hello! I am glad you are sharing your hobby. Thank you.
Thank you so much for joining me on this journey! I can't wait to move them outside next spring.
That "pokey dot" plant has a common name in Canada. They call it the chocolate chip cactus/euphorbia due to the spines look like mini chocolate chips
Ohhhh very interesting! Do you have one? I hope I can do it justice and keep it alive. Euphorbia have the coolest markings.
A little late with the comment but I wanted to wish you a (very) belated birthday. I’m sorry that you were struggling with anxiety related to your age. It’s easy to tell you that everyone ages and that you have nothing to worry about but those of us who struggle with anxiety know that it isn’t that easy. I hope that you’ve found peace in the 2+ years since filming this video. I’ve only recently discovered your channel but can tell you that I really do appreciate your content including the reminders that we’re all just human (and cats!). PS I would love to see a video dedicated to your pottery. I discovered Larry Thomsen thanks to you and would really like to see what other cool pots you have. You may already have this video and I just haven’t found it :)
Thank you so much for the belated birthday wishes! There will be another birthday rolling around at some point, so it's never too late (nor too early 😁). I still struggle with that anxiety, I guess it's just part of the game. As time goes on I feel like I am more fearful - mostly fear of loss which I try not to focus on since it is a fear of the inevitable but what can you do. It's this thing that just hangs around no matter what. Thank you so much for the kind words and your encouragement for the content on this channel. This channel is nothing without viewers like you. I am planning to make a video to showcase the various handmade pottery artists that I have. I was starting to take inventory of all the artists and it's way more than I originally thought, omg!
Now I have to visit Tucson.
Yesssss! You'll have a blast seeing all the nurseries!
Thanks this was the perfect holiday treat. ✨
You are so welcome, Tom! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. 💚
Gorgous plants but prices a little high
Thank you! Which ones do you think are high? Any places you recommend with more competitive prices? I'm always on the lookout for good places to shop for plants.
Hi Jenny 👋 I watched 👀 to the end I was also reporting my own seedlings 🌱 while I watched your I did it in too lots your seedlings 🌱 looks a lot bigger on the screen 😅😅😅
Wowowowowowowow, congratulations!! That's so cool that you watched while repotting your own seedlings! What plants did you repot?
Astrophytum and gymnocalycium mammillaria 😂😂😂😂😂😂
So many plants! It looks like heaven ☺️ Online shopping is fun, but being surrounded by beautiful genuses and species in person is the best!
It is plant heaven come to life! If you're ever able to visit Arizona, highly recommend this spot, Galina!
I will add it to the list of nurseries to visit 😊
I am half way through watching the video and found it interesting and informative about the different types soil it is new years eve in Tasmania 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ha! I just replied to your comment where you made it all the way through the video 😂 Hello from Arizona! Does Tasmania have a good cactus selection?
Great video you just gave me another haworthia and aloe and uforbias place to order from
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, Gary! Yes, definitely another option for buying plants online.
Done died and gone to heaven. I see boobie cactus at 2:12 but can't locate it on their website. I don't know the scientific name :(
It's a short and sweet name 😁😁😁: Myrtillocactus geometrizans fukurokuryuzinboku But you're right, I also tried to look for it in their catalog but couldn't find it. Maybe it's worth sending them an email or giving them a call in case they're able to sell you one.
Thank you for showing this place, Jenny! I'm planning on checking out some of the nurseries you've shown in Tuscon soon!
You're very welcome! On my website I have a page with a list of nurseries and their information. You'll have a blast!
