    My voice just doesn't seem to go above a certain sound. It won't make a single noise, not even a squeak, above a certain note. But it isn't very high. Nothing but a ghost-noise comes out. :(

    Hi Madeleine! I have thyroid cancer and had surgery in April to remove my thyroid. My vocal chords were damaged during surgery and I haven't been able to sing since then. It's been so hard for me in many ways as I love to sing every day. I'm in vocal therapy right now and have seen some improvement with my voice, but still haven't been able to access my upper range at all. I came across your video and thankfully, I had a couple of breakthroughs while doing these exercises. Thank you so much! I will continue to watch your videos and practice to access and increase my vocal range.💜

    My voice cracked as soon as I tried the laugh. My voice is deep for a female so I was wondering if it would even be possible for me to increase my range since my voice is deep or am I just going to need to practice?

    • @MadeleineHarveyVoice
      @MadeleineHarveyVoice  8 років тому +135

      I LOVE the sound of depth in female voices! Everyone can increase their range regardless of which vocal classification they are. (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) Vocal classification speaks to more of the thickness of the vocal cords rather than the way the chords stretch to increase range. If you find that your voice is cracking..no worries! All that crack is, is a temporary weakness in coordination. The voice cracks for two reasons, weakness in cord musculature, or unestablished resonating space. If you continue to work in the areas that you feel would be the most unstable, you can reinforce the familiarity there. So play with lots of sounds that place your voice in those crazy places and make them stronger. I hope this helps!

    I can achieve a high pitch. The pitch is correct, but the sound is too flatty. Do you have any suggestion? Some coach say I need to practice scale regularly so that the range can be increased?

    • @Annie-kp6bm
      @Annie-kp6bm 7 років тому +9

      arm nakornthab try rounding out your mouth when you sing. For example, a good exercise for this would be sighing "how" while really emphasising on the "ow" part, almost sounding like "uu". It helps to make your voice sound much more round and powerful. Hope this makes sense and helps!!

    Hello Madelene!! I wish to increase my lower vocal range. All my life I have sung in the baritone and second tenor range with comfort. But I wish to extend the baritone lower range.

    It's easy for me to sigh and blend when going from high to low, but when I go from low to high, my throat is more likely to tighten up and my vocal chords split. Is it a matter of mastering going high to low before attempting low to high? Will it become easier as I get better at going high to low? Thanks!
