How I Cook Small White Tapioca Pearls | K’s Mum

  • In this video, I show how I cook small white tapioca pearls so that they are all clear all through out (no white spots in the middle of each pearl).
    Tapioca pearls are also known as tapioca balls or boba. These translucent spheres are made from tapioca starch which come from cassava root. They are similar to sago pearls. In the Philippines, they are used in various desserts or drinks like bilo bilo, taho, minatamis na saging, bubble tea and more.

      @@kcmumlife it worked!! I'm so happy!! :-)) tasted so good! mine were I think a tiiny bit bigger than yours, so I needed to boil them a very quick 2nd time! but it worked just fine, thanks so much! :)

      @@kcmumlife so, for me it was:
      1. 5 min boil
      2. 10 min rest in hot water
      3. max. 5 minutes (I think it was only 3 or so) boil again,
      done ✨🤗

      @@kcmumlife yes, I have another question though: If I made too much, what to do with the rest? Put it in the fridge? CanI leave it outside? Will it then be hard again and do I have to cook it again? So many questions:)

    Worked just fine for me - thanks! Easy to follow instructions and good tip to stop the cooking by rinsing in cold water.

      I tried boba once and it was delicious i asked my mom if we could make boba and she said Yes while i was looking for tapioca powder i saw pearls and this video was realy helpful

    Update: They taste really good mine are not clear because I bought some colored ones I’m and I did half the ingredients because I didn’t want much but still ended up with some left I hunk you can store them in he fridge til the next time you want some I mean at least that is what I did overall like them!

    hi! can you put these in milk tea?:) if so, do you add anything to the tapioca pearls? like sugar or something else?

      Yes you can! Yes, I believe you can. Although for milk tea, the bigger ones would be better. I would usually add sugar syrup or honey. :)

      Boba is made from these tapioca pearls' starch. It's made into a dough and cooked in brown sugar or other sweetener.

    I got this but the pearls are green instead. I want to add them to juice fruit tea. Do I have to add sugar. And how much sugar and what's the process with sugar thank you

      Yes you can add sugar. I personally add honey or simple syrup after it is cooked and then just scoop some into my drink.

      @@Sunshine-Dragon I guess you could try. They don't have flavour on their own. Would take after the flavour in water you cook them in or syrup.

      Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure. Perhaps there wasn't enough water or not mixed well so they were not evenly cooked.

    How do you use this for tea?

      I just add it to whatever kind of tea I like though usually the bigger ones for bubble tea. You can put honey or simple syrup to sweeten it.

      No. You can put simple syrup or honey to sweeten them up after cooking.

      Perhaps they were overcooked? What I do is boil them for just 5 mins then turn the heat off and leave them in the hot water for 10 mins or less (depending on how quickly they cook). Then rinse them under cold running water to stop the cooking process. 😊
