You're a life saver! Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I'm made boba for the first time tonight and the instructions on the packaging weren't as clear as yours! I love how you go step by step (and I needed those details, I wouldn't have known about soggy boba! NOT SOGGY BOBA D: ) You made my first time making boba tea a breeze. I'm now enjoying my first of many home cooked boba teas without leaving the house! Again, thank you soooooo much!
love this method so much, i used the bolle brand a while back with the regular boiling method and they came out hard. the instant pot method makes them so nice and chewy like an authentic boba shop!!
Lol my mom and I were just wondering how to cook boba in the instant pot. This video came out at the perfect time! Thanks Angel! Stay safe and healthy!
So update : To make things faster, I boiled the water in the water cooker. Transfered the water into the IP in a Saute program. Let it simmer a bit. Put half a cup of tapioca pearls and stir. Press Cancel. Close lid and seal. Pressure cook for 3-4 minutes (I did 4 though). After cooking, wait 4 more minutes before releasing the pressure. Strain in running cold water. Transfer in a cup or bowl and put honey and mix to prevent from sticking. That's all folks 😂
I love your recipes and use them all the time, please make more videos! Instant Pot twists on traditional Chinese recipes is such a great way to learn new things during Covid quarantine
You are so missed ...I love your energy and you just has always gave me positive vibes ... Well I am from Egypt and Boba is not available her (I think !) , I have never seen it in any café /coffee shop or supermarket.. But I am intrigued so much to try it ... please keep posting I LOOVVEEE Asian cuisine
Exactly what I was looking for. I brought tapioca pearls few months back but they take way too long to cook on stove when boiling. I ended up throwing away cuz gas means money. Know I have an instant pot and wondered if I could just pressure cook them and it would be much faster!
Hi Angel, I always enjoy watching your videos. You are an excellent cook who also has such a gracious demeanor. Please keep us updated with your grandparents' health. Best wishes to you and your family during this difficult time. Have a great one!
Love this simple and easy recipe for my instant pot. I have no Asian stores near me and Amazon wants to charge me $50 (CAD) for that exact brand and 2 pound bag. I'll have to find some store in the city next to me.
have you experiment with different amounts of boba? seems like a 1/4 cup seems too little for the amount of work. have you tried larger amount of boba say 1/2 cup or even 1 cup ? btw I am using the 8 quart instapot...thanks, love your videos
You could double the recipe and using a bigger instant pot would help with that. I don’t do more than 1/2 cup at once just because that’s a lot of boba and it’s best to consume fresh within and hour or two.
All the bubble tea cafes are closed so I went to my local grocery store to pick up my own to make it myself 😋! It’s white like yours. I noticed it turned black towards the end. Is that what I should expect, too when it’s done?
Oh how I wish to go to Tapei after all this is over and have some Boba Tea. Yummy. Right now I settle to go to a local Boba tea place but not right now. I must be patient. My focus needs more focus. :D
Angel, thanks for this video. After spending an embarrassing amount of money this past summer at various bubble tea stores for myself and my kids, I decided to try and come up with a more cost effective solution. Research suggests that the Bolle brand of boba are available at a local Asian grocery store in my city which is nice as Canadians usually get screwed when it comes to things like this. They also have the E-Fa and Wufuyuan brand but I like how you pointed out (in your other video) that the Bolle brand has only 3 ingredients vs various other ingredients in the "instant" brands. I've also got an Instant Pot at my disposal along with a good house insurance policy on the off chance I blow something up. The "brown sugar" tea's I've been getting from stores appears to consist of regular milk and then a spoonful of these pearls in a special brown sugar and cocoa sauce. Would it be reasonable to assume that I can make this "sauce" out of brown sugar, cocoa powder and water? Put it in a saucepan and heat it on the stove until it's mixed together? Have you ever tried a sauce like this where you can share the ingredients? Thanks James
Hi James! I'm so glad the video was helpful! You'll be fine making the boba in the instantpot (no issues with blowing anything up) 😅. For the brown sugar boba, you can use lots of brown sugar when cooking in the instant pot so it infuses in the boba. I haven't heard of adding cocoa sauce, but it sounds delicious too!
@@angelwongskitchen Interesting. How much brown sugar are you adding to the water in the instant pot? That's a great idea vs doing it afterwards. I did attempt to make a sauce afterwards in the frying pan but ended up with a sticky mess.
I've tried her method (followed to a tee) twice and both times it came perfectly: chewy and soft tapioca! The only problem I have is when mixing it with homemade milk tea, the pearls are all stuck to each other no matter how many times I stir. Any tips how not to make them stick? 😲
@@kkatangelkitten Thanks, Heather! Yes, I somehow missed the part to let it sit in syrup for a bit. haha Thanks for pointing that out... will definitely do that next time. Thanks again! :)
So happy to see you again! Also, thank you for this! I have been wanting to make boba in my IP for a while, but didn’t know what recipe to trust. Love that this is a smaller amount too! ❤️
I followed these instructions exactly and the boba came out undercooked. What can I do with it now? Cook again under pressure, but for less time? Simmer on saute?
Hi Angel, love this idea. Wonder if I could use this concept at the store. Next time try soaking the cooked boba in a warm bath of water, brown sugar and honey. :). Be safe
I used her method to cook homemade boba and turns out very well. After water boils a lot, put boba and stir to prevent them from sticking together. Close the lid and use soup function for 15 minutes. When time is up, just self release the pressure immediately and get all bobas out and drain all liquids. Add enough amount of brown sugar to sweeten the bobas, then some ice cubes to cool down the temperature which will made bobas chewy.
Ahhhhh! I’ve tried this twice and it followed your all your directions. In the end, it turns to mush. I’m using the brand you recommended. Do you have any advice?
Make sure you’re using super cold water to stop the cooking process (add ice cubes if needed). You can also reduce the time it sits in the IP during the keep warm mode by a few minutes.
This looks awesome, Angel! :) You should post more videos. I've been subscribed to you for a long time now, and always look forward to your videos. Have a nice week, and stay healthy! :) P.S. Soggy boba sounds gross, haha!
So it's waiting for 15 mins for the water to boil, 15 mins cook time, 15 mins pressure release and 15 mins letting it sit in sugar? 1 hour total. That doesn't seem very quick.
regular ones take longer than an hour. also you can always use boiled water it’s your choice. it doesn’t take 15 minutes. you can quick release if you want. any recipe will need to sit in sugar. there’s no quick way unless you’re buying it from a bubble tea shop.
Not 15 min... Between waiting 10-15 mind for boiling water, the the actual 15 min to cook it then the 15 min before pressure release that's 45 mins alone... Making Boba on the stove in a saucepan is much faster in
Black tapioca is a bit deceiving. It doesn't show you that it didn't cook through because it blocked the light from shining through. You need to cook it twice, 3 minutes each time. You can verify that with the white pearl because you will notice it only cooks half way the first time.

@@hazeleyezluv the best deals i saw was on Amazon. :) if there's a local Asian market near you, maybe they have some?

I also had super melty bobas at 15 minutes so I tried 4 minutes and it worked perfectly for my brand of boba too! Thank you!
Were you using the Bolle branded boba or a different "instant" brand?
@James Dixon I believe it's instant. I bought it from Amazon Germany, it's called Tapioca pearls, from The Inspire Food Company, the Hague Netherlands
I'm so glad I found you!!! I was dreading the time this was going to take by boiling over the stove, but found this and it came out amazing!!
