There are also other advantages Gru has over Syndrome that you didn’t mention. 1: Gru has WAY more combat experience than Syndrome. While the Omnidroid has faced multiple supers and killed them with ease, Syndrome himself rarely ever fought anyone in a head-to-head fight. He’s seen far less action than Gru who in contrast has been on multiple missions for the AVL, personal missions against Vector, and been in more fights than Syndrome overall. Syndrome may be more book smart, but in combat tactics, Gru has him beat. 2: Composure. While both Gru and Syndrome have had their share of embarrassing moments, Syndrome’s own arrogance and overconfidence has left him wide open for counterattacks and make crucial mistakes in a fight; a problem he never learned from. In contrast, Gru often learns from his mistakes and adapts to hasty situations much better than Syndrome, who panics whenever things go wrong. Syndrome is used to things going exactly his way and is shown to freak out and fumble his work whenever things go wrong. Gru is far less likely to screw around and leave himself open compared to Syndrome. 3: Versatility. While Syndrome’s gadgets and machines are absolutely impressive, Syndrome is ironically a one-trick pony with his kit compared to Gru. All he really has are his Zero-Point gauntlets, the Omnidroid, rocket boots, and a single miniature explosive. It also doesn’t help that many of his weapons have been known to malfunction or turn against him in crucial moments (again due to his hubris). In contrast, Gru has multiple long range weapons (freeze ray, laser gun, lipstick taser), a shrinking ray, a personal jet and car he can call at any time, a fart gun, etc. Gru has so many more tools for offense and defense that he can fall back on to either create an opening or counter some of Syndrome’s options.
Don't forget the minions. While the Omnidroid is NEARLY indestructible, the minions literally are impervious to damage. All Gru's got to do is tell the minions to swarm Syndrome and he's basically done for.
Gru works with his minions. And they're pure chaos machines. So Gru is used to working with unexpected chaos. If Gru has his minions causing their usual chaos, Syndrome doesn't stand a chance. It's not even a fair fight.
Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross. Repent and believe in him or you will be separated from God The Father for all eternity and face hell forever, for all eternity, never ending.
Gru my man will beat syndrome in a good sunday and on other days will humiliate him. Yup, using their tech, okay, syndrome has his ball robot. Gru has his minions, and should one of those got in one of that giant ball's insides, that's byebye robot. The unwitting destructive nature of the minions is no joke. And he has that shrink gun. One on one......yeah Gru is going to put Syndrome in his place...yup behind bars.
Honestly I think everyone is sleeping on Syndrome. We only see a small amount of his implied many technologies. He has the production capacity to be selling weapons to other countries, his organization is large enough to make secret bases on remote islands. These said bases are fortified with ground launched missiles and the island in the movie has the capability to launch ICBM's. Gru has a small army and an underground bunker, Syndrom has an entire organization working with other governments.
1:05 about the shark thing, it gets even more impressive when you realize it was a casual backhand. GRU didn’t even need to use a full force, haymaker punch. He flat out bitch slapped it to death.
6:08 Not _Just_ any old missiles. He dodged _Heat-Seekers._ Those missiles are absurdly fast, and they _HAVE_ to be fast, as they have to catch their target. 6:56 Forgot to mention the Flaw of Syndrome's Zero-point energy manipulators... When the Zero-Point Energy Emitter exceeds a certain axis, it stops working altogether. This was how Mr Incredible was thrown around, and how the 18-wheeler was carelessly tossed aside in the city fight. Syndrome actually remarked on fixing it, which he never got around to doing due to the chaos of the movie. Gru would realize that weakness and exploit it.
I think something else to note about Syndrome is that, despite knowing about the various cliches, he can't help but get wrapped up in them due to his complexes. He wants to surpass his old idol, he wants to prove he's better. But he's got a lack of experience and a lack of acknowledgement of how dangerous what he's doing is and what can go wrong, something he shows as a youth (where Bomb Voyage nearly gets him killed and how his actions most likely helped start the mass expulsion of super heroes from society) and later on (where he gets caught monologuing, doesn't realize his adaptive robot might fight back against his commands if he faces it, and falls victim to how capes can get supers who wear them killed). It makes it all the more obvious that Gru would win because, from what I can assume, Gru HAS moved past those things while Syndrome is entrapped by them.
@ahha623 he did learn from that though, at the end of the second movie, he hits El Macho with the lipstick tazer and *then* announces it. I'm drawing a blank on if he continued doing that in the other movies though.

I did research and a debate with my friend a few years back on who would win between another character and Felonius Gru so I unfortunately have a lot of experience on this subject. For facts about Gru, he has major advantages a lot of which come from the differences in his universe and ours. Gru has: -Being 12-14 feet tall -Can dodge missiles which (according to my math) we’re going at about 300 km/h -Can scale the Pyramid of Giza in under 20 seconds -Can jump at least 10 feet in the air -Agility and reaction time on par with the best people in the world -Strong enough to one hit a great white. (Technically not his) 5. Lipstick-taser? (Also not his, but he could have access to it) 6. The minions, Dr.Nefario, Dru, Lucy, and the Girls (only if we allow the Omnidroid and Syndrome’s goons as well) 7. The Grumobile 8. X-ray goggles 9. Heat ray 10. The suit from Despicable Me 3. Idk the name but it has a lot of gadgets built-in In summary, Gru easily has stronger allies than Syndrome, meaning for Syndrome to have a chance it has to be a 1v1, with them only being allowed what they can have on them. Even in this case through, I give Gru around a 90+% chance of winning.
I just did some quick estimations, and found that Gru’s shrink ray can output at least 1.8*10^43 Joules. That is 20% the energy of a typical supernova and the equivalent to the amount of energy the sun emits in 1.5 MILLION YEARS!!!
Unless Megamind can reinforce Metro Man, I think Gru wins here. His freeze ray is just as useful as the dehydration gun, but with a greater range and his minions surpass the brain bots.

Plus there is a good chance that Gru could just shrink himself get inside and turn the robots on his side with amount of knowledge he possesses about technology that would be very well possible
With how Mr. Incredible did get inside the Omni-Droid, Syndrome may very well have made the inside more dangerous (or compact) if anything somehow did get inside.
A point that I made to my friend as well is that since Gru can scale the entire Pyramid of Giza in about 8 seconds, his speed is estimated to be that of going to the moon and back in about a minute and a half. Granted, he was scaling a high slope when on the pyramid, so one can assume that this number is even faster (making him faster than even Wally West’s Flash)
What are you talking about, he is at least going at most 24m/s. That is such an easy calculation if you know about Pythagoras theorem and how to calculate speed from distance and time.
What we see in the two movies: Gru was a hands-on villain (and spy). He didn't send his henchmen to do his biding, he lead his henchmen on the field while carrying out his evil (and good) deeds. Meanwhile Syndrome essentially sat behind a computer screen pushing buttons and giving orders to his lackeys. He pulled strings, set traps, and lead his enemies to their own demise (or at least attempted to). Syndrome was the villian behind the curtain.
Honestly before Gru's backstory was expanded on, I'd theorized that his moments of hypercompetence, the fact that he seemed to understand how to operate what were basically assault rifles, and having a vaguely Eastern European sounding accent, pointed to a sorta Niko Bellic situation.
Boi how u gonna shrink the small explosive when it’s small it takes the same energy into the smaller space creating an explosion bigger than the neutral because of the kenetic energy sooooo don’t shrink the tiny bomb
Another point while Syndrome defeated many heroes it was always one by one and in an ambush setting with his Omnidrones. Meanwhile Gru fought against villain geniuses who both uses technology and superhuman physicals regularly.
I think people are underestimating the power of the Omnidroid. It learns from the people he defeats, and assuming we are using the omnidroid at the end of the movie, all Syndrome has to do is Zero Point Gru, and the Omnidroid would destroy him. What the hell are a swarm of minions going to do against the Omnidroid? Entity cram it? Gru wouldn’t have time to shrink it because the. Zero Point would instantly freeze him.
I like your thinking, my thoughts is that if Syndrome zero points fast enough and catches gru off guard, he can throw him into an omnidroids spinning blades which will cause a bloody mess. Also Shrink ray carries gru. If he didnt have that Gru would be toast. But overall I see Gru winning most of the circumstances because of his bigger arsenal, but yes Syndrome still has a pretty good chance of winning, its not gonna be a slaughter of a battle like the video said. Have a good day!
That is true, however, Gru's reaction speeds are arguably faster than hypersonic entirely, moving into sub-relativistic as his reactions scale above Vector, who is able to react extremely in avance to incoming obstacles while traveling 5696.024 km/s, which is significantly faster than Dash's highest speed. Gru is also capable of moving appx. 1900 mph, matching/slightly exceeding the movement of average ballistic missiles. Dash is fast, but he's not "Ballistic Missile" fast. Syndrome's quick on the draw, but he's not "I can react to something moving mach 4.6" fast.
@@LOG-w2m Not fast enough, and he can't choose when he gets bigger. Also, I don't think his shrink ray works like Ant Man's, so he's not as strong when small.
Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross. Repent and believe in him or you will be separated from God The Father for all eternity and face hell forever, for all eternity, never ending.
Yes, it really is! I'd also like to see Megamind vs. Gru (not vs. Syndrome, because if Megamind can hold his own in multiple battles with Metro-Man, he can easily take down Syndrome and the Omnidroid).
Part of this really comes down to Protag of his story with lots of time for abilities and new tech to be shown off/improved on vs antagonist of his story with like 5 total mins of showing off and improving tech and abilities. If Syndrome had even a fraction of Gru's combat screentime then he'd have more tech and feats to help make this less of a stomp in Gru's favor
Suggestion of the Day Mortal Kombat Guest Character Tournament Freedy Krueger Homelander Jason Voorhees John Rambo Joker Kratos Leatherface Peacemaker Robocop Spawn Predator Terminator Xenomorph Put them in a 14 team bracket What will the bracket look like Who wins this tournament
I'd say this is a case of "toonforce wins". Despicabe Me takes place in a more cartoonish universe, where people can survive explosions like Wile E. Coyote, and fatherly love turns you into an unstoppable beast.
Fanboying aside, Mr. Incredible could've made it way easier on himself if he told Buddy that superhero work was life-threateningly dangerous, and he can't, in good conscience, let a defenseless boy follow him to his superhero duties. Instead, he chose to just say "Go home Buddy, I work alone." which is definitely how you make someone develop a grudge against you. Meanwhile, Gru has hundreds of immortal minions that he still cares about, never putting them directly in danger without planning out their moves. Yes, they rely on him for guidance, but he never told them to take a cannonball for him or something. He treats them as equals rather than expendable servants. As for their battle, Syndrome relies too much on his devices, the loss of which is how he's originally defeated. Gru has literally punched a shark and dodged missiles.
the question relies if the omnidroid is able to deflect the lazer attack, he was able to win against lazer attacks supers and I doubt the omnidroid tanked those attacks because some of those seem extremely destructive, I think is most likely it has some kind of shield that deflects those attacks
Another point in Gru's favor is that the omni-droids are specialized robots. The first one Mr. Incredible kills was meant to take on someone with heat powers, not Mr. Incredible. The only omni-droid that could pose a problem is the one meant for Mr. Incredible and that is solved with the shrink ray.
i think syndrome beats most tv and movie characters. the only way to beat his omni droid is ripping its claws off and impaling it with those. and the zero point energy is so good as well.
Syndrome got taken out by his own Omnidroid after it decided he was a threat in spite of literally having its remote control, I think that is really all that needs said about his competence as a fighter.
I think the most important part is that Syndrome is just a villain, but Gru is incredibly lovable. I think that's why Imagination chose to continue with him, because people actually want to see his character development.
You forgot that Gru also has his minions just like Sintrem got his droids and minions will always out run Sintrem and his robots in numbers. Not to forget the only way to destroy his robots is to destroy it from inside and Gru has Cookiebots for that purpus.
Just a reminder that the shrink ray does not remove mass or weight from its targets. Just makes them denser. So with this knowledge, it should come as to no surprise that Gru is capable of lifting the MOON, easily might I add.
Jesus Christ died for your sins on the cross. Repent and believe in him or you will be separated from God The Father for all eternity and face hell forever, for all eternity, never ending.

EXACTLY! Gru literally keeps a LOAD of technology Gadgets on him.
Uhh.. iirc he didn't invent the shrink ray though. It's stolen tech. But yeah, he's got it in his arsenal.
@@ken2663 well yeah that is true.
@@ken2663 correct me if I'm wrong. Its gone after the first movie
5:30 The omnidroids be gettin some
I think people are underestimating the power of the Omnidroid.
Minions can use weapons too
I like your thinking, my thoughts is that if Syndrome zero points fast enough and catches gru off guard, he can throw him into an omnidroids spinning blades which will cause a bloody mess. Also Shrink ray carries gru. If he didnt have that Gru would be toast. But overall I see Gru winning most of the circumstances because of his bigger arsenal, but yes Syndrome still has a pretty good chance of winning, its not gonna be a slaughter of a battle like the video said. Have a good day!
i love how forward he is about this
4:10 but when gru was a kid he built a rocket
And a real one based on macaroni prototype too
And a cheese ray (freeze ray prototype that shoots melted cheese )
And the freeze ray
Grus does have one thing Syndrome doesn’t. The Minions.
Syndrome's reaction speed is fast enough to catch Dash who has super speed.
He got Dash while Dash had his guard down.
@@paradoxglitch1108 Dash was still running.
I will never forgive Despicable Me 4 for turning Gru into a pushover
Gru’s real weapon is plot armour
So is every other protagonist.
More like cartoon physics
3:29 look at that walk
Gru vs Megamind would've been a better lineup.
Can we just give the animators props for having Gru acurately manoeuver in microgravity?
I don't think Gru has a counter for zero point energy.
He could shrink himself
@@LOG-w2m Not fast enough, and he can't choose when he gets bigger. Also, I don't think his shrink ray works like Ant Man's, so he's not as strong when small.
@@JoelPerry1 wait... syndrome is ded
5:09 wait did he build hidden drones or turrets for the zero point tax? The road is that he can only shoot from his hands.
He also forgot to mention that gru is 14 feet and can travel almost as fast as the speed of sound
“ASSEMBLE THE MINIONS!!!”
Vs
“Even when you have nothing to lose you’re weak!”
My dumbass thought they were in the same movie for a second 💀
Syndrom couldn’t even fight his own robot he needed the remote.
Gru looks like The Penguin 🐧

@@treek10kAmen.
Gru just genetically altered himself to give himself superpowers
Man Gru didn't even need the army of indestructible tic tacs.
I love the thinking of using Gru’s cartoon indestructibility and strength as super human
Now, this is a creative and interesting matchup. Well done, Danco.
Yes, it really is! I'd also like to see Megamind vs. Gru (not vs. Syndrome, because if Megamind can hold his own in multiple battles with Metro-Man, he can easily take down Syndrome and the Omnidroid).
"It's not toxic, just noxious, like Grandpa Ted."
Ted?
To say he’s dodging missiles is an understatement. He’s making them go in slow motion
And that's not taking in account the absolute size of the lad known as Gru.
Biggest Weapon of Gru is his Army of indestructable minions
Never thought of having them fight. But now I see a cool rivalry.
Gru vs. Megamind would be alot more interesting.
A more interesting hypothetical would be Gru vs Megamind, or I suppose, Tighten.
Syndrome vs Mega mind would be interesting.
So a person who is literally dead vs a person which just cant die.
If we count the omni droid for Syndrome, we need to count the minions for Gru.
0:21 Bro really said when Gru GRU up💀
☠️☠️☠️☠️
dont forget... THE MEGA MINIONS
Suggestion of the Day
Mortal Kombat Guest Character Tournament
Freedy Krueger
Homelander
Jason Voorhees
John Rambo
Joker
Kratos
Leatherface
Peacemaker
Robocop
Spawn
Predator
Terminator
Xenomorph
Put them in a 14 team bracket
What will the bracket look like
Who wins this tournament
Considering how op Kratos is sometimes, he might 1v13 the list
Note, the average minion is 3.5 feet tall. Gru is about 4 minions tall putting him at FOURTEEN FEET
Gru has been on God Mode ever since Vector took the girls
Gru has plot armor and Syndrome doesn't, case closed
Bro really has gmod physics guns for fingers 💀
Ah yes. Gru has the power of toon force.
Gru doesn't wear a cape. That's enough to win
Gru’s dad was a great villain? I either forgot or never knew that
I'd say this is a case of "toonforce wins". Despicabe Me takes place in a more cartoonish universe, where people can survive explosions like Wile E. Coyote, and fatherly love turns you into an unstoppable beast.
I wouldn't even give the Mark 10 Omnidroid to Syndrome seeing it literally turned on him in the movie 😂
Gru has literally punched a shark and dodged missiles.
never realized how shiny grus eyes are
Syndrome has superpowers gru has an army of immortal beings
Homelander vs Skullcrawlers
Homelander
Skullcrawlers
Homecrawlers
Skulllander
This would depend on whether or not Homelander is killed in one bite because as soon as he's inside the Skullcrawler's mouth, it's over for the beast
the question relies if the omnidroid is able to deflect the lazer attack, he was able to win against lazer attacks supers and I doubt the omnidroid tanked those attacks because some of those seem extremely destructive, I think is most likely it has some kind of shield that deflects those attacks
+Gru has an army of invincible minions
GRU is also canonically 14ft when he’s slouching
Grew 13 feet tall he can run at 382 m/s if I remember right his nose is a foot long and he just has superhuman strength
Nightwing vs Taskmaster.
Nightwing
Syndrome* you can’t stop me * minions come* I’m cooked💀
i think syndrome beats most tv and movie characters. the only way to beat his omni droid is ripping its claws off and impaling it with those. and the zero point energy is so good as well.
Citing the minions should be enough of an argument.
Syndrome got taken out by his own Omnidroid after it decided he was a threat in spite of literally having its remote control, I think that is really all that needs said about his competence as a fighter.
I love how they made the heat ray so extra! 🤣
There's also the fact that the Minions are literally indestructible
@@Br0ck3nRealities yep
Just a reminder that the shrink ray does not remove mass or weight from its targets. Just makes them denser. So with this knowledge, it should come as to no surprise that Gru is capable of lifting the MOON, easily might I add.
Erm the ungodly amount of indestructible minions that may or may not be armed with rocket launchers ez win
Danny phantom vs the incredibles
Depends on whether it's the earlier seasons Danny, or the last season Danny. Adult Danny Phantom would mop the floor with them.
