I can agree with your argument, I think if it was like a one - on - one, no preptime just those two, Gru should win via statstomping and overpowering. Honestly, I though because of how often you'd scale Megamind he would have taken the win.

Megamind's tech is built for offense against an all-powerful being like Metroman. Gru has impressive physical capabilities but he's more like a professional thief.
There's also the fact that-while he's never done it-he still has the ability to just give himself Metroman's powers if he really needed to

In the Despicable Me game, Gru can use a Magnet Gun, which has the capability of disabling robots/machines
I feel like that's a hard counter against Megaminds contraptions, but idk, finding info for the DM game is honestly pretty difficult so I might be remembering it wrong

Megamind threw a gigantic robot the size of a building several hundred feet into the air and survived it falling and crushing him into street. Look up the “button of doom” short if you want to to see it for yourself

You know... Just because an amped minion falls down when Gru kicks it doesn't mean Gru actually did any damage.. they don't weigh very much even if they're essentially indestuctible. In fact, the entire reason why minions were used for the serum is because their durability is obscenely high compared to any of the other characters, so they shouldn't be used for any durability scaling either

I think the reason that we thought Megamind would win is because Titan is much scarier than all of Gru's villains.
Yet people forget about toon force.
I don't think Megamind perceiving Metro Man while their both flying through space in the opening should even be considered a feat, this is because of relativity.
Both Megamind and Metroman's spacecraft are moving at similar speeds, and while yes they may be moving potentially faster than the speed of light relative to an outside observer, relative to either Metro Man or Megamind, the other would be only moving a few meters per second, and therefore it would be easy to perceive the other.
To put it simply, if you're on a train moving at 100m/s (trains don't go that fast, but work with me here), and you see another train moving along side you at the same speed, you'd be able to see it, point out details of it, or even react to something someone is doing on the other train, however that doesn't mean that if you were on the side of the rails and that same train went by at 100m/s that you'd be able to see or react to it beyond a blur, the same thing applies to Megamind and Metro Man here, because they're going at the same speed, it isn't relevant for perception.

That moment when you consider the "Rule of cool" to be as factual as physically possible, thus rendering human characters as super-human for no other reasons than "Math checks out."
brainbots can totally be offensive. not only does megamind have over 100,000, but they have proven to be violent, as they have bitten megaminds hand several times. imagine what 100,000 would do to gru.
They also kept Tighten busy for a decent amount of time as well as causing an entire police force to surrender on the spot. That last one might have been more presentation than anything but I still think he underestimated the little guys in the video.

Megamind seeing Metroman as babies in the ftl pods isn't any sort of feat, they are both going the same speed in the same direction so their relative speed is super low...
also they don't have to be going light speed to escape a black hole since they aren't past the event horizon, so saying that they are going faster than light isn't necessarily correct

Honestly Gru having the literal invincible minions is enough, just give em powers like in the forth movie and they win. If not even a giant rocket can scratch em, he wins no shot.
Megamind has a whole lot of non-damaging crowd control options that would totally work against the minions though, even if it's just something stupid like holograms to distract them.

If we are getting really serious. The shrink ray would actually make the moon less “heavy”, it would just get denser meaning the moon would have the same mass. So technically you could say that Gru held the ENTIRE moon, with no difficulty mind you.

Yeah adds up honestly and fits well with the tone and characters of each movie.
I feel like megamind perciving metroman at FTL isn't actually impressive. He was moving at a similar enough speed, so the relative speed was actually rather low.
Yeah a lot of the claims related to reaction/perception time didn't really make any sense. That's the most egregious one, but the whole section about Vector being able to react at relativistic speeds, and then being surprised Gru could dodge his missiles, therefore Gru has relativistic reaction time and speed, was all just a huge stretch that doesn't make any logical sense.

@@KingNedya The whole dodging laser guns in general is a bad speed feat because in reality the character doesn't need to be faster than the laser, they need to be faster than the guy who's shooting. You don't react to the laser, you react to the guy pulling the trigger.

@@catalin2766 This too. I was actually originally going to include a comparison to dodging hitscan weapons in FPS games via predictive movement, but I didn't want to bloat my comment. But yeah dodging laser weapons or lightning equating to light-speed reaction time and speed doesn't make much sense, except for certain scenarios. Like dodging natural lightning which is automatically attracted to you and you have no reference for intent, aim, or timing would probably equate to that, but with a person you can take advantage of their imperfect aim, especially if there's some sort of tell that they're attacking like throwing their hands forward or opening their palm or something.

the only thing that comes to everything is Megamind's ridiculous hax and feats vs Gru's capabilities.
Megamind fought against Titan, who's a literal 2nd coming of Metro Man who can SUPERSPEED to stop time basically and that superspeed is already a universal feat. Given Titan might not know how to use it since he's acquired Metro Man's power just too recently, but he was trained by Megamind to enhance these powers so he's still a super formidable foe that can blitz through Despicable Me's world since they lack actual superhero feats that can go toe to toe against Titan. Sure they have the "tech" for it, but it's not limited to extracting the power off Titan since it needs to actually touch him.
Gru on the other hand just had better capabilities throughout the movies. he was the best supervillain of his era, revered by everyone in the underworld. he might have changed sides, but he's still a capable inventor/supervillain. he's fought numerous mind boggling villains and giant robots, but nowhere near Metro Man level. the strongest he fought is probably the main antagonist on the 2nd movie since he was enhanced by a super drug to get stronger. since then, there's nothing much to actually say that Gru isn't nowhere close to Megamind level, but he's near.
in 1 vs 1 scenario, I think Megamind would take the cake because of feats alone, but Gru is through and through a capable fighter and supervillain. Megamind can construct DNA from a literal super hero whilst Despicable Me lacks thereof, meaning Gru's universe is probably in lower ranking compare to Megamind and what he fought against. it's the matter of his ridiculous hax that Megamind would win against Gru. In a sense of avoiding argument, Megamind can literally give Metro Man powers to HIMSELF and blitz through everything. Gru wouldn't even be able to steal his ray to reverse its effects because at that time Megamind would have been equally as strong as Metro Man and destroy said ray and mop the floor with Gru.
but in blitz scenario, Gru would beat the living f out of Megamind. Megamind is nowhere near capable in fighting so is Minion.

1, while yes metroman was moving massively faster then light, it is not a universal feat and there's no evidence that time actually stopped. 2, titan is NOT as strong as metroman, or even on the same level, if you use the dna he got from metroman's dandriff and compare that to metroman's entire body, that means metroman is 275Billion times stronger then titan, and even if you don't want to use the dna thing then titan still only has a single at or faster then mach 1 feat while metroman was moving massively faster then light casually.

We already know Megamind is more about presentation than Gru. I feel his death-ray “full concentrated power of the sun” statement was just that, presentation.
However I think the TRUE deciding factor for this fight would be the situation they were in. Because Gru may have better feats, but he can only seem to draw them out when those he cares about are in jeopardy. Megamind only ever kidnapped Roxan and fought Metroman for attention. He even admits he never thought the death-ray wouldn’t work on metroman. So I personally think it comes down to who goes too far the first. The first one to put the loved-ones of the other in danger loses.

I think Vector would honestly be a way better opponent for Megamind, as they're WAY more similar, neither are considered real hand-to-hand threats, both are very threatening with their technology, both are geniuses, both could technically destroy a city with the amount of firepower they have
If this is a fight to the death than megamind absolutely wins this. Gru doesn’t really have the capabilities to beat him.

I can imagine the dehydration gun and freeze ray beam battling, while the minions and minion-bots clash. Would be quite the fight, as they've both got plenty of gadgets that would make things interesting. It wouldn't be one-sided, but unless Megamind has prep time, Gru would wear him down and win.

The 'feat' of them flying near each other and perceiving who is in the the pod isn't impressive when you consider that they're moving at a similar rate and in the same direction. yeah i can see the guy in the car next to me perfectly fine too my dude...

He literally said its only his perception, not his reaction, and this isnt even a good debunk, sure them flying at the same speeds helps so the shop stays in his line of perception, but hes still perceiving it, meanwhile Metroman casually blitzes an older Megamind's percept while right in front of him, right in front of his eyes, meaning he is clearly faster than the ship
Regardless, from what you said an older metroman speed blitzed an older mega mind, that's a power scaling on metroman and thats fine. But 2 pods moving in unison in the same direction wouldn't need enhanced powers of perception to look to the right of them.
When you are in a train and you look across the aisle at your friend sitting in the opposite side, you don't need to perceive him. Yes they're in the same vehicle, but say there's a train next to yours going the same way same speed, it would be like looking at your friend sitting across from you...
I think the reason it's meant to be impressive is because it should be impossible based on physics.
To see something you need light to bounce of it then hit your eyes, but if both things are moving at near light speed with a decent gap, there shouldn't be time for the light to bounce between them.
There's also red-shift and other wacky relativistic things.
Relativity is weird so i might be wrong.
I thought this would be a slam dunk for Megamind but then I remembered that Gru has an army of indictable minions.
Lets be honest this two characters have a rough childhood so they will be buddy's lol
the main thing that make megamind lose in this matchup i think, is their respective mindset
Gru tends to be really serious when going against a threat, while Megamind is always more on the funny side, and is not someone willing to go for the kill like Gru would
A lot of the calculations used for these feats are absurdly bad.
I know they are usually done by high school students who have about a semesters worth of physics knowledge if even, but it’s always jarring to see taken as fact when it’s so terribly wrong.
For example the rope acceleration calculation,
First of all, I have no clue why they assumed the rocket is doing 600,000m/s, or about 2% the speed of light,
Moreover, they just assume the rope has absolutely no elasticity whatsoever.
This matchup was truly... DESPICABLE!
This was a potential death battle idea that many would had heavily enjoyed if it was made.

I think the reason he doesn’t use the dehydration gun on MetroMan or titan is there to fast to be hit by it if it hit Bruno do think it’s end the fight
But one thing is like to mention is that megamind doesn’t believe the death ray to be able to kill MetroMan yet he does believe his suit to be his equal
Megamind also has access to time travel and a portal gun he could just kill infant gru
Megamind, if both parties had prep time, but Gru if no preparation. Gru needs funding for his creations, while Megamind has made whole building-size mechsuits, satellite solar lazers, and Spider-mechs of equal size, FROM JAIL and SCRAPYARDS, and while the minions ARE indestructible, they can't exactly climb out of a pit, or break out of simple cage restraints, which Megamind could easily arrange. Man-to-Man, though, Gru is LEAGUES ahead physically, dodging missiles and punching sharks, whereas Megamind gets hurt from a car stopping too fast.

The Minions are immortal, but the brain bots could fly.
If Megamind f's with Gru's Gorls. He's going down. If the Gorls are not in danger... He's losing the first encounter on par to how he lost to that 80's guy from the 3rd movie.
The funny thing is that megemind has the dehydration gun and overall better feats but gru has a team of nearly(or truly) unkillable creatures on his side which is a testament to the oversaturation of minions in pop culture.

But honestly? As decisive as DM can be these days, I don't see much wrong here currently. I thought Gru would fall on City Block+ from all the punishment he takes (the rest of the stats were right in the money from what I recalled, the Vector moon and Minion shorts were new to me though)... I didn't think Gru would get THIS MUCH, the fact people tend to be such a shrub under 'consistency factors' yet there is, etc. etc.
MM didn't even seemingly use the Dehydration gun on Metro Man or Tighten when the threat actually became huge sure (unless proven otherwise, as I genuinely do not think the MM at his best, is not this resourceless or dumb and would head with it)... Even then: Gru is agile enough to dodge each blast (speed wise should not be too off for it too) meanwhile MM is in a HUGE DISADVANTAGE with agility thus far *(MM would have his own, but definitely NOT to the extent where tracking devices couldn't even keep up with Gru this time, where as before he struggled... So Gru is furthermore strapped Accelerated Development...)*
Plus if MM has Prep, it would be even more disingenuous to say Gru doesn't and shockingly resourcefully crafty as well: Blud can still invent rockets since he was a child for starters, there were those whom remarked the background posters already remarking Gru as a world renowned super villain in the 1st film, to the extent he already found loopholes in an impenetrable Fortress as of the 3rd film... Admittedly, Gru is NOT as lacking in IQ as we thought.

1. All Might(My Hero Academia) vs Invincible(Invincible)
2. Pennywise(IT) vs Freddy Krueger(Nightmare on Elm Street)
3. Darkseid(DC Comics) vs The Entire Mortal Kombat Verse
4. A-Train(The Boys) vs Quicksilver(MCU)
In my opinion
1.) invincible wins
2.)pennywise wins
3.)darkseid wins
4.) A-train wins (only if you count him dodging star lights lasers if you don't then probably quicksilver wins)

I know this has nothing to do with anything but in a despicable me short called “PUPPY!” There is a mini ufo that has many good unique abilities and is shown to be very strong but later on in the short we see at the end every ufo coming to take it back and the ufos themselves are huge judging by how strong the mini one was imagine it but larger

Deregulate is the weirdest option, as it is defined by removing the rules from an object. Considering we have a guy that is building machines able to harness the Sun itself, completely dehydrate anything he sees, etc. I can see this gun affecting someone's atomic structure such that their very atoms don't adhere to the rules of physics... which is absolutely terrifying to think about

You didn’t really talk about the Minions at all, either. The minions are more powerful than the brainbots in my opinion, being extremely durable and having access to weapons like rocket launchers and medieval weapons.

the "lightspeed reaction" feat of megamind based on the ships doesn't even make sense in the first place, it's founded in faulty physics, theory of relativity says speed is relative, if two ships side by side are travelling at the speed of light from the perspective of either ship (aka megamind) the ships have 0 velocity, it would only be a valid feat if megamind actually reacted to something else aside from metroman's ship
