Never really thought about it, but bug type works quite well for a fourth starter, it's weak against fire and strong against grass, and neutral to water. Particularly works in Gen 1, weak to Charizard's flying and fire, and strong against Venusaur's Grass and Poison (under the Gen 1 match-ups)

Jestibear gives me life. Also Gen 9 DID actually introduced a move that is just telling a bad joke--Chilly Reception--so that's even more fitting. For a signature move i could see one combining the effects of Follow Me and Recover--putting itself in the center of attention then eat the food they throw at it, making it be a bulky support Pokémon.
I was thinking of a new move for it "comedic flop" it would work like magnatude, since you never know how a joke will land. A magnatude 10 would deal 100 damage to the opponent (emotional damage) and a magnatude 1 would heal 100hp (from the berries thrown for its bad joke) every magnatude in between would do a combination of healing and damage so a magnatude 5 would be base power 50 and heal 50hp.
@peanutbuttersunfish True. I would imagine Jestibear telling us a joke only to be meet by cold reactions, hence the name, Chilly Reception. Plus, Chilly Reception has a unique perk in that the Pokémon using it prepares to tell a chillingly bad joke. Only Slowbro knows it, so Jestibear could learn about it too, considering it is a real possibility.

For the Gordon Ramsay Pokémon, maybe it’s signature ability could be “Expert Chef.” If it’s given a berry to hold, it takes two turns to consume it once activated, but it’s effect is doubled. So if it was given a Sitrus berry, it wouldn’t activate until the turn after it goes below half health, but it would heal twice as much.
That's a good idea I thought he could have his signature ability work like regenerator that also heals status conditions but in case that is the healing is lowered
For Cowly, I feel like it could've also been a Necromancer class, which is typically reserved as a class for dark or evil characters in RPGs, often times the main antagonist, so it'd be capable of raising onstructs made from clay and sediment, and infused with the souls that it steals away from other Pokemon it defeats, which would play into its signature move Horde Rush, a ghost type move that summons a substitute to protect it on the first turn, and if the substitute is not broken by an attack, on the second turn it will deal damage to the opponent, dealing more damage based on how many Pokemon are left still able to battle on your opponent's team, as well as dealing less damage based on how much damage the substitute took without breaking
I think Cowly could've also functioned as the artificer class. I think a nice dual typing for it could be electric/steel as magneton. Or maybe a steel/psychic as metagross! Or maybe rock/electric like Alolan Golem.
For Gesturebear I think I nice ability to have would be a signature ability named Gestkidding. Gestkidding: When using a sound based move, have a 10% chance to confuse all opposing pokemon. If move already has confusion as a secondary effect, Boost probability by 20%
For the Gordon Ramsay's Pokemon a signature move could be "Taste Test". If the opponent Pokemon is an 'ingredient' Pokemon the move does a fixed amount of damage the taste test while healing the user a small amount, and if the Pokemon isn't an ingredient type after the fixed damage taste test since it's bad the user yells at or makes the Pokemon eat the bad dish possibly causing food poisoning or being paralyzed!
And for signiture ability: Secret recipe, boost the power of food type atk by 100% or 50% depending on how many food type atk it has or if it is holding a food related item

I think some of them look out of place when compared to the other 3 starters, but overall, these look good, especially paldea. I love how the bear's final evolution has like red on the left side of his face, looks cool
The second gen pokemon being a dinosaur gave me an idea. It'd be cool if there was a generation of Pokemon where the starters you choose from are actually "Fossil Pokemon" right? But instead of having the second typing of Rock like all fossils do, they were able to "improve the process" of reviving fossil pokemon and they were able to keep their "original typings". This is cool for three reasons: 1. Its a unique experience to say you're starting with a fossil type pokemon. Perhaps you are given a temporary pokemon to help protect you while helping a professor try to recover some fossils, whatever the region's basic bird or rodent pokemon is. Then once you get those fossils the professor allows you to choose one of them to be your starter. 2. This opens them up for doing variants of all the fossil pokemon. "True species" or something idk. And then if they wanted they could open it up to player preference whether they want pokemon to keep their rock typing or not in future games maybe. 3. It could be a cool tie in with pokemon Scarlet and Violet, basically implying that the tech that was created by the professor of those games was repurposed for fossil revival.
I like the Norse-inspired Starter for Gen 4, as I am a Norseman, but I also think Egyptian Mythology could work as it is, in my opinion, part of the big 3 Myths, Greek, Norse and Egyptian.
While I'd agree with you on mythology as a whole, the problem is the specific myth that's being used in chinese myth, Journey to the West. Probably one of the best known ones out there
I always wondered what if GameFreak had added enough Pokemon in each generation (from gens 1 - 5) for it to be possible to make full teams of a certain type? And what if they were designed so that they could gain the newer types introduced later on? Like a cute looking two stage dragon type gaining the fairy type.
For Jestibear, I think it's signature move could also work similar to Bug Bite. If the enemy has a held berry, Jestibear gets that berry thrown at it instead and takes its effect, for example, a thrown Cheri Berry would cure its paralysis if it was able to move through it or a thrown Chesto Berry wakes it up if the move was called via Sleep Talk. Also I wanna assume it's a Psychic-Type move as that seems appropriate. My D&D group always joke that bad puns deal Psychic Damage.
Jestebear's signature ability could be "Wise Crack". It'd make it immune to status moves like attract, Scary Face, Mean Look, Growl and so on as it'd be so caught up in it's own bad jokes it wouldn't notice any responses other than the tomato berries 😂

Great video, great fan Pokémon. But I do have a problem with the fact that all of the 4th starters are all different types, it doesn't seem right to me that the other three are all the same type, but the 4th once isn't. Sure you could say that the 4th one will always be the wild card. But I think the 4th starter would be more believable, if they shared the same type across the generations.
Fair, but I think the wild card type allows for the most creativity as opposed to being locked into one type. A lot of these bonus concepts rely on diverse typings. The point isn’t to be believable so much as it is to be creative while also sticking to the themes of the other regional starters.
@@Dougbro1 Yeah, but my issue is that nobody would choose a Normal starter though, since Normal is seen as a bad Pokemon later in the game. The thing is also not only to look at the starters, but also at the availability of the Pokemon introduced in a generation (For example, that Normal type Doggo in Unova basically makes the Lillipup line absolete).
@@nickdentoom1173 Eevee is a starter. Fair point on Lillipup at first glance, but considering this one becomes Steel later, I think it’s different enough.
@@Dougbro1 tbh, it becoming part Steel as a Normal starter probably the worse Dual typing it can get. Its Quad weak to Emboar, but also weak to other Fighting and Fire types, as well as weak to Ground types. In Unova, being weak to Fighting and Ground at the same time is detrimental, due to the majority of the FIghting and Ground mons in the game. So not many people are gonna use it regardless because of that... Lillipup line is way better to use overall (Its only weakness being Fighting and its not even a quad weaknesses. So a Doggo starter is gonna overshadow Lillipup line due to it being a starter, which leads to Lillipup not getting a fair chance making it absolete.
@@nickdentoom1173 Perhaps it could get a movepool and stats to make up for it, and it could become a better Special attacker while Lillipup’s line is physical. Plus “Lillipup becoming obsolete” relies on the assumption that none of the other starters are ever chosen instead. However, all of this seems to be missing the point of creating all of these to begin with. The point is to play with concepts, not make the next metagame-breaking Pokemon
Kabuk would def just have an ability like: "exquisite meal" Double the positive effects of berries while in combat. maybe it can also work on his partner in a double battle
For Galar, I would have done a reference to Rare for the Gaming industry since the company has a history with Nintendo or Monty Python for the television reference
I personally think Galar has a second ‘theme’ or ‘sub-theme’ being the stages of life. Y’know, how they start as basically children, then become teenagers, then adults with careers.
Considering there's already legendary pokemon based on Norse mythology I think you should've given that mythology starter spot to an egyptian themed one
I think that the fourth starter should have been something in the entire Mesozoic because tododile might represent the Dino like crocodilians in the Triassic.
That crab that evolved to have a Samurai head looking shell is the coolest nature fact I’ve learned about this year, which is saying something because I subscribe to multiple nature facts UA-cam accounts

A custom ability for the Ramsey lion could be: Whenever this pokemon is damaged by a fire move, it heals all status conditions. Basically, if food is cooked properly, it becomes safe to eat. Not sure what to call it. Maybe "Maillard". It's a more versatile version of Well Baked Body. Though, it could get that also. Alternatively it could have "Deglaze", which is the same as "Maillard", but for water type attacks.
These concepts are so good that I actually thought the whole video premise was to fit EXISTING pokemon into being a starter. Only after 6min did I realize these are just concepts
4:13 only arthropods evolve to be crab like 4:31 that’s a myth it’s only a coincidence that it looks like a human face they have looked like that long before we evolved
i love these! the only thing i see wrong is that all the regions have the same three types. fire, water, and grass. maybe change it so that stays constant. but other than that i love these!!!
Is there any blade type attacks at all for Galar!!!! Chef uses blades man take it form me been doing it since 16 a blade attack would be perfect for him
14:22 I think like maybe food stash the ability makes it so that if hits a super effective move it does the same damage and also whatever status condition then whatever amount of damage it does it heals that
My mind is so blown up, but not for the four starters designs that you're doing but that I didn't know that every starter had a theme🤯🤯🤯 The one that got me off guard was that there were starter pokemons based on culture gods like from Greek or China, so nice job on the North mythology starter goat
Gen 1 already HAS a 4th starter: Pikachu. Also, there are "implied" 4th starters with Wally and Ralts, other characters throughout the franchise, if you count those. Making Fakemon for it and using the rational for a Bug type starter is not so good on paper. Pikachu is an Electric type. Stands to reason other 4th starters should also either be Electric type or some base element from the pa kua, like Rock for Mountain, or Ground for Earth (as Grass would rep for Wood). THIS is why Eevee's evolutions stick to that, with Sylveon being an exception, but you get the gist. There already ARE 4th starters. They're just not usually offered as starters unless you play something like Pokemon Yellow, or either of the Let's Go games.
I have a great idea for Kabuk, I don't have a name, but it would be a double-sided ability that does more damage to food-like Pokémon and makes it faster than any Pokémon with the ability gluttony. The more damage to food-like Pokémon is a kind of bad ability, but it makes sense due to a chef using said food-like things in its meals and the part where its faster than any Pokémon with gluttony is because a chef always has to be ready to cook for any amount of people with any amount of appetite. Also, it represents all you can eat buffets where even though you can eat multiple things at once, the cooks always seem to beat your appetite and make food faster than you can eat. Also, for some moves I was thinking of 1 signature, the move season which slightly increases the atk and special defense of the user but lowers its accuracy. The atk boost is somewhat obvious, but the special defense might not make much sense, so my explanation is that salt is in most cultures a way to ward of any magical curses, ghosts, and other forms of sorcery, so since salt is a seasoning it would be part of the special concoction of seasonings that increases the stats of Kabuk, also if u get salt in your eye you're not going to be that accurate, which is why it lowers accuracy. Also, some lore for the move would be that the reason that Kabuk's line is the only Pokémon line to know this move is because the seasoning is a special family recipe unique to each family of Kabuk's and is passed down through thousands of generations, salt is always included.
I love how Typhlosion is the Pokémon equivalent of the joke from Futurama where Fry asked the super computer brain: "What killed the dinosaurs?" "ME!!!!!!!!"

Also, I would think that the final goat evo would be able to fly with its hooves because its actually walking on electrons, quite like how goats can traverse in impossible inclines.
For the galar starter, since it's mostly talking about Gordon Ramsey, it can have the anger point ability since he gets mad at his contestants
Hey, Dobbs, I just wanted to point out... all of these extra starters *should* have consistent typing. In every generation, starter types are consistent.
Yeah he made a lot of mistakes in this video including Calling Gordon Ramsay British when he's Scottish
I actually like it if they were different all the time because it would be so cool
Scotland is in Britain…
OMG, I came into this video thinking it was going to be some random ideas thrown here and there. But DAAMMM. I was so pleasantly surprised. So much research and logic has been put there. I learned so much about existing pokemon and how they were created. This is really impressive.
I thought that Typhlosion was meant to represent ancient mammals
10:22 cow can become beef and and a ground type beef is called ground beef
Welp... We are now know what we choosing 😎🗿

"The volcano that led the dinosaurs to extinction" That was a meteor, my guy. If you're talking about the one right before the Triassic, then sure, but the KT event was definitely a meteor strike
Not only that, Typhlosion is based on a Honey Badger, not on a Dinosaurs. So his Johto theming doesn't even work.
😂 my guy thought they went extinct from a volcano lol
@@grantfuller6123most science actually think dinos when extinct because of a lot of volcanic eruptions Which would cause the same affects as a huge meteor, lots of smoke, ash, volcanic leftovers, no sun, plants dying and the extinction of the dinosaurs comes next
Points for all the hardwork, thought, and originality to this premise instead of just taking easy cop-outs. Kudos!
I recognised that!
Imagine if the creator's of pokemon games see this, and does exactly that in ALL of the pokemon games. XDD
Imagine Nintendo adding 4th starter to Pokemon after this
Why are you everywhere?
@@azir1595 LET THE MAN COOK
Holy Cow! Thats pretty neat!
The alola theme was fast sounds familiar like he said aloha to the alola
Considering there's already legendary pokemon based on Norse mythology I think you should've given that mythology starter spot to an egyptian themed one
We need a vintendo collab dobbs please give us one🤌🤌
I think that the fourth starter should have been something in the entire Mesozoic because tododile might represent the Dino like crocodilians in the Triassic.
TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!🥳🎉🎈🎂🎁🎊
Happy birthday
Man I’ve been doing so good in History and Science thanks to this video.
That'd be cool
That crab that evolved to have a Samurai head looking shell is the coolest nature fact I’ve learned about this year, which is saying something because I subscribe to multiple nature facts UA-cam accounts
What If pokemon had no starters? [softlocked forever]
Honestly, it would be pretty cool if they just gave you balls and made you forget your team out of normal pokemon or ran it like a randomizer. I'd like that.
Actually, Gordon Ramsey is Scottish. Was was born in Scotland
Yeah, but Scotland is in Britain, therefore Gordon Ramsay is British
6:27 well... have you heard of doduo, dodrio, Hoppip, skiploom, jumpluff, and fan forme rotom?
Hi
I generally don't care for fakemon, but I want the thunder goat. In fact, I want more goats in general
These concepts are so good that I actually thought the whole video premise was to fit EXISTING pokemon into being a starter. Only after 6min did I realize these are just concepts
6:30 first flying type with no wings like gyarados doesn’t exist 😢
4:13 only arthropods evolve to be crab like 4:31 that’s a myth it’s only a coincidence that it looks like a human face they have looked like that long before we evolved
i love these! the only thing i see wrong is that all the regions have the same three types. fire, water, and grass. maybe change it so that stays constant. but other than that i love these!!!
Is there any blade type attacks at all for Galar!!!! Chef uses blades man take it form me been doing it since 16 a blade attack would be perfect for him
Yay new video, been waiting
Dobb my dude, you out-did yourself! *Chefs kiss*
I LOVE the designs!!!
as a Norwegian man THANK YOU SO MUCH for giving us such a proud pokemon to honor our culture♡♡♡
14:22 I think like maybe food stash the ability makes it so that if hits a super effective move it does the same damage and also whatever status condition then whatever amount of damage it does it heals that
For the sinnoh starter Flying type can be justified by electro magnetic hooves.
Jus love yo ideas fr n yo artist is sick wit it
My mind is so blown up, but not for the four starters designs that you're doing but that I didn't know that every starter had a theme🤯🤯🤯
The one that got me off guard was that there were starter pokemons based on culture gods like from Greek or China, so nice job on the North mythology starter goat
Bro of how much research you do i think you would become a great scientist how researches everything with proof , anyway love the vids
These videos are soo good. Keep up the good work.
This was much more clever than initially expected
These desings look better then some of the new pokemon 👌🏻
A lot of his ideas...and the idea of a 4th starter sounds great and refreshing! I wish that pokemon would do this! 4 starters instead of 3!
Omg so good. You guys are creative.
Next is a rom hack to get these guys playable
14:20 The fairy lion evolution Sousimma (sous + simba) could get the ability Refined Smell- Cannot be affected by powder moves.
Nice concept! My favorite of the bunch would be the alolan one, and the Sinnoh starter would be the next.
What's the middle evolution for them all called
I love how Typhlosion is the Pokémon equivalent of the joke from Futurama where Fry asked the super computer brain:
"What killed the dinosaurs?" "ME!!!!!!!!"
So glad you gave then their final evos too. Seen concepts like this before that only did the first stage which was disappointing.
Your designs are 1000x better than anything the pokemon brand has come out with since ruby/sapphire
...... Who's gonna tell him about starter type matchups?
