Fairy>Steel>Fighting could be cool.
One represent Sp Atk, One represents Defensive, and the last is Offensive.
@@egeorgiades93 ah yes steel is weak against fairy and good against fighting
But I counter with the Ghost > Ghost > Ghost trio
Not gonna lie: that "Fire/Rock/Steel" trio makes me think how screwed up the region would have to be for there not to be a Water or Grass option. Then, I thought about Legends: Arceus and how you were thrown back in time by Poke-God to fix things. Now, I'm wondering about a game where you get thrown FORWARD in time to restore ecological order by finding and catching Water and Grass types.
You KNOW you'd play that...

If I were to choose two-stage lines, I think Ponyta/Rapidash, Buizel/Floatzel, and Skiddo/Gogoat would be an excellent trio. Three very adorable first stages for players to fall in love with, a fire horse to fit the Chinese zodiac, a water type that can move on land, and a grass type that is definitely not just a plant. Also, all three are mono-types so there's no extra complications there. But what I love about this trio the most is that it actually fits a theme: transportation. Skiddo and Rapidash can be (and are) used to ride on, and Floatzel's floaties and propeller tail make it a perfect lifeboat!
I feel like Sewaddle was overlooked. It may have a 4x weakness, but so does mudkip.

I really like the shiftry, magmortar, seismitoad triangle since it looks like actual starters you could get
Shiftry is cool
Magmortar is the GOAT
and most importantly...Seismitoad is BEEGFROG
It’s unfair how Magmortor has pure fire
While shiftry gets grass dark
And seismitoad gets water ground
If magmortor got a second type I think steel would work
@@siaguamiel1787 Litwick would actually work in that particular triangle. Fire beats grass but dark beats ghost. The only problem would be Seismitoad with its ground type. Maybe another water + fairy type, like in Alola, since that'd be pretty much the exact same trio?
All of these pokémon are in my top 10, too. Is that a coincidence?
@@siaguamiel1787 Also, another type that would work phenomenally is… normal? would that be weird? I don’t think we’ve HAD a normal-type starter before. It would be interesting. Fighting could work, but… Firefighting starters are overused.

I think a perfect Trio would be a third stage trio of Grass/Dragon < Fire/Ice < Water/Rock.
They all gain as a third stage a type that gives them a x4 weakness to the starter they are weak to.
Plantasuarus Rex (a dinosaur topiary), Temproa
(A snake with fire on one end and ice on the other. It eats heat (ice attacks) to fuel its fire.), and Petropotomus (a hippo made of stone).
fire ice type gets freeze dry and the water rock gets its ass whooped
@@Warriormon87 you got it all figured out
@@Warriormon87 Umm, the one hippo based line I can think of (Hippopotas and Hippowdon) is pure ground type
A fun little tidbit for this video is that the Chandelure line could be worked into a scenario where you think you’re getting a benefit, but if the rival chose the starter “weak” to yours, and the grass starter was Seedot, you’d have a tougher time considering the fact that the entire rest of the line would be dark type, which is super effective *and* resists ghost. And then you can add on the Seismetoad line if someone else gets the third starter, which would just be causing that poor Chandelure to perish on the spot.

Flashbacks to Greninja and Charizard in Kalos
If nobody saw that anime clip they would have no idea what u mean
I know he’s trying to say Grass, but Gen 4 can tell you that the grass type doesn’t need its grass moves to take down the water type
The other thing that ties your Fighting, Rock, and Flying trio together is that all three final evolutions can Gigantimax...with no DLC required.
Lol I forgot gen 8 starters had G-Max until I read this
I was going to say that
They work as Galar starters and I love that
The name of the Coalossal, Corviknight, and Machamp trio? The Gigantamax Trio. Using Mikey’s criteria, this is the only trio in which all three starters have Gigantamax Forms in the final stages.
Oooooooooookkkkkkkkkkkkk
Well, Empoleon getting the steel type is what really messed up the type triangle. Empoleon got the steel type, so they added the ground type to Torterra, and then that made them resist fire, so they added the fighting type to Infernape, which in turn, made it super effective against Empoleon. Nintendo was like the lady that swallowed a spider to swallow a fly.
Iirc ground doesn't resist fire. I think torterra should've been grass rock anyways tho
@@linklinksson6885But that wouldn't give Torterra any strength against Empoleon, since Steel resists Grass and Rock.
I'd like to see pokemon make an alternate universes game, where you can have the different type triangle but overall preserves the traditional trio in universe atm. You could even reverse the shinys to give it a different edge, for instance a standard charizard in this universe would be black, the shiny, its orange-red

Since the anime thought arbok evolved into seviper, let's just say, that is the three stage evolution for it.

If we look away from the fact that they're two-staged, which honestly shouldn't matter much, the fact that they evolve to be able to beat their former counter is pretty cool, and could make for good storytelling with the rival(s) as well.
I thought of this idea too.

They did this with gen 6 starters and I really like the concept
Sinnoh kind of did this it's just that Infernape is OP and Empoleon got the shaft actually being weak to Torterra

I made a custom starter trio where at the end we have fire ground, grass poison and water ice
Finaly! I found someone else that thought a water / ice starter would be great! Somehow almost no Pokémon have this typing, wich is confusing, As I think they fit so well together. Not sure if Employon Is water/ice since he is a 3rd evolution starter, and his design is a king penguin that can swim so fast they could sicle the world in seconds despite their size and cut thew icebergs instantly, due to having sword as flippers
I really wish they'd have split final evos for starters. It'd add an additional level of strategy and you could potentially change the final evo to fit better into your final team rather than getting to the final form and realizing you now have some overlap.
Mike, the trio you were talking about were Bellsprout, Magby, and Horsea, starters you can receive in "Pokemon Zeta & Omicron" (The creators of Pokemon Insurgence).
HOW DARE YOU SAY MIKE!

Pokemon Uranium: Am I doing something wrong
Not in the slightest
I found a shiny grozard in pokemon uranium
Well yes, but actually no!
This is something I’ve thought about way too much.
I’d love to see them start out with a different triad, like fighting dark psychic or something different
mandgtv in a nutshell:
Grass: YOU ARE NOT BIOLOGICALLY AN ANIMAL
Fire: I miss Mario so much…
Water: L E G S
The Starters were actually Bellsprout, Magby, and Horsea and it was a rom hack with Jirachi as it's key legendary
Its actually a fan game not a rom hack

How did you post this, this is past the time this was uploaded
That’s what I was wondering
imagine if every generation have their own triangle typing, like rock > flying > fighting
Or if one had
Steel > Ground > Ice
XY had Dark > Psychic > Fighting (As secondary types, but still)
"The split evolutions mess up the Triangles"
Legends: Arceus
Split Typhlosion, Decidueye, and Samurott
The Chinese zodiac: has pokemon.
Fuecoco: I'm gonna end this man's whole career
The Arbok line could work if they made it evolve into Seviper, which I totally thought Jesse's did since I missed a good chunk of the anime when she switched between the two.
The anime actually made a mistake in the Hoenn region with their mid-episode questions. They literally said that Arbok evolves into Seviper.
And then Gumshoos can evolve into Zangoose
Lmfaooo
The game you was talking about was Pokémon Zeta and Omnicron. And the grass starter wasn’t Budew it was Bellsprout.
Still one of the best ROM hack
Do you have to trade your starter magmar?
@@giyuutomioka5662 Nope ... All the evolution methods having the requirement of trading were changed in the game
@@shubhamjain3028 thank you very much dude I was thinking of downloading the rom hack but I was worried, thanks

What would be awesome (in my opinion) would be if in a few years a new game set in kanto was released. In this you would get the kanto starters, but they would all have different final evolutions which all has the secondary dragon typing. Additionally, similar to legends arceus you could give certain pokemon that have received little attention (like the doduo, voltorb, paras and seel lines) a 3rd regional evolution. Add a different story and set it in a different time period with mostly different characters and I think you’d have a pretty solid game. Also I think it may be cool to bring some pokemon from other regions to kanto and give them regional varients, just to keep things interesting.
I was arguing last night that they should have given all three Dragon-typing. It would allow Charizard to be a dragon without making him too OP (although Venusaur would be overly weak to Charizard then, so it may not work).
I think fighting, steel, and fairy would have made sense as well for a starter trio
I actually use that for my fanfic Pokémon: Champion of the Rings.
Fighting doesn't resist steel
@@christianloder8127 unless its paired with Water, as in Fighting/Water
Where are the advantages ?
I once thought of that plus Fairy/Fire and Steel/Grass to make sure every starter could beat both of the other starters. Then I realized that would make the Steel starter too disadvantaged against the Fairy starter since Fire would become a 4x weakness and the Fairy starter would not be weak to Steel. So I went with Fairy/Fire, Fighting/Grass, and Steel/Water.
Nobody:
Mikey’s camera at the start of the episode: B L U R

The “nobody” meme is dumb and overused. Not original. Stop.

This was an interesting video to watch! I hope one day there's gonna be a maybe spinoff game with different starters of usually non-starters to pick from- Anyway, of each trios you made..
I would pick Tympole for the different grass water fire trio, and name it Butter. Ground types are super helpful on a team.
I would pick Ekens for the grass ground poison trio, and name it Xaria, off of my oc, and mostly cuz I just like Ekens.
I would pick Rolycoly for the fighting rock flying trio, and name it something like FireEye, prefering it over the other two
And I would pick Klink for the fire steel rock trio, naming it Xear, like gear with an X since it has an X eye, having never used a klink and finding it pretty cool.
