I wouldn’t worry about the ratings. Hawkeye is one of the less popular avengers so naturally it opened lower. The point of the series is, as Kate would put it, to revitalize the Hawkeye brand
The thing that annoyed me most was an article that claimed Hawkeye was "Woke" and that was it's reason for it's failure. Like.. on the surface, Hawkeye being replaced by a female seems "woke", if they watched the series they'd see that's far from the case.
@@Rebelrose yeah it’s really not woke at all I agree, and I like the origin story they’re giving both kate and echo. Both lost their father, both have badass mentors. And Clint is clearly better rn than kate they didn’t overpower her at all. So I don’t get that woke argument
@@SamUHells Yeah. Like in the episode, he acknowledges that she's a good archer. Is that really woke? To have a mentor like figure acknowledge their underling? And even then, any time she's shown to be cocky or overconfident in her abilities, it backfires on her. The "woke" thing to do would be to prove that she's better than everyone. And is the series sorta tackling or featuring disabilities like being deaf and missing a limb really woke? I sorta relate this to Eternals. I haven't seen it yet but what I don't understand was people hating on Marvel for the diverse or multi-racial cast... Like was every character supposed to be white or.?
It turns out a bunch of people who claim to be comic fans but have only ever watched the movies sure start to show their true colours when the relatively large diversity of the comics begins to even slightly trickle over into the movies. Can you just imagine if they'd given us comic book Kate right off the bat? XD What I find really funny is that they all complained at Shang-Chi about Katy's proficiency with a bow having spent only a day or two training, and they were insistent it's not because she is a woman it's just the training thing. So the MCU is like okay, here's a woman who has spent over a decade training, and they still whine about her. Apparently the amount of training wasn't the issue at all, who could have guessed?

This show is quite frankly one of my favourite things in the MCU. I LOVE this. Absolutely love it. Scenes of dialogue are so great, everyone in it is a god damn delight, and even the more meaningful and deeper aspects feel sincere and pitch perfect in this. Clint answering who Ronin was and who killed him - perfect. Subway scene mentioned in this recap - perfect. The wavy tube Santa popping up - perfect. I could go on. But I won't! I'll just say again, gosh darn love it. Going "nooo!" audibly when an episode is over love it.
@@mordecaiwayne652 Yeah, I could literally go on and on. :D The hearing aid being stepped on leads to a situation that they do so much of purpose with. I do think we need to prepare ourself for the possibly that this “Uncle” is just Jack Duquesne and not in fact Kingpin. Although I do think we should also speculate wildly about how that hand belongs to Myphisto

Big deal about the ratings, I'm loving the show. It may be the best start to one of these Disney+ shows in my opinion. It doesn't have as wacky a concept as WandaVision or Loki, but it's also carrying on stronger than Falcon and Winter Soldier, which probably would have been stronger had Big Time Coroni not messed up the plot, but what's done is done. We've gotten to have different perspectives on things in the past, we've got some fun action, and the dynamic between Clint and Kate is great, and it's nice to just deal with some street-level people instead of the world/universe/multiverse being threatened again.
Totally agree this has been my favourite show so far, each ep has had a healthy dose of action and it just feels fun and light hearted. Like the boys said in the vid I was pleasantly surprised to see that the poor chemistry between the Hawkeyes was just acting and I think they are both growing towards each other.
I agree with the street level shenanigans. That's what I miss from the Netflix shows. And they've made Spider-Man too big to deal with the street level stuff that he does a good deal of the time. Also, I never thought Renner was tired. I just appreciated Hawkeye's "dad energy". He would really like to leave this part of his life behind and spend time with his kids but the world won't let him. That's how I read it.
Hands down, Hawkeye is my favorite show Marvel has done. And this episode was the best by far. It's such a shame people only see his character as a joke. There's just so much to love.
I like the "black widow killed Ronin" thing because it's the opposite of "Darth Vader killed your father". By getting the soul stone, black widow brought Hawkeye back to life for all intents and purposes and "killed" Ronin.
A part of me wants to believe that "my wife will divorce me" is a reference to comic Hawkeye and his many actual divorces. For real, the man can't keep a marriage running at all.
To be fair, that dragon in Shang Chi WAS in a different world. They traveled through a portal to get there and Michelle Yeoh's character mention specifically their world being more advanced and all that before the Dweller in Darkness came. Its weird in 4 thousand years they didn't expand in numbers and capabilities or even just rebuild to any significant degree but there you are.
@Snehil Shrey Look, you dont have to like it. And both can be good. It just felt to me like the viewer was dropped in the midst of that chaos, sitting behind Clint and Kate. The camera wasnt just there to record (as is usual with Marvel), it was moving with the action. It was just a fun sequence, but as I said, you dont have to like it.
@Snehil Shrey Good morning captain killjoy, or is it senor Buzzkill, you seem like a miserable, critical, judgemental character who is no fun at parties. The cinematography was great, the archery and martial arts before the car chase was the best fight scene in a MCU TV show so far imho, sorry if it doesn't match the cinematography of your favourite French film from film school that only you and your classmates have seen but we're clearly not all as wise and cultured as you are. Well done being better than everyone else in the world ever, it must be hard and boring.
Personally I’m enjoying this show more than Falcon/Winter Soldier. I’m hyped for what’s coming and I’m hoping it doesn’t drop the ball like with wandavision
It may just be my personal preference of these more grounded Marvel characters in general, but I think this is definitely my favourite of the Disney+ shows so far. I will admit that Loki is perhaps still slightly better than this in terms of quality, but I'm definitely enjoying this one more
Not too difficult considering they ignored the winter soldier aspect of the show for majority of the episodes. USAgent though is reason why that show is still great even though they stuffed up Falcons arc.

Yes! I'm pretty sure Collings does these although I'm not positive. There are so many instances of perfectly placed images throughout this video that it's blowing my mind they did it so fast.
Great stuff, loved the video boys. Also, give Collings a raise. This edit is incredible how the hell does he do it so fast! The WW84 clip that came up after you mentioned shooting PYM arrows in the mall had me dying!
I think it's a reference to the Netflix shows being set in a different universe. Daredevil and Kingpin just look the same (although I still think they brought back John Rhys-Davies as Kingpin)
Another possible hint at Kingpin, is that the auto repair shop, that "Ronin" kills all the track suit mafia guys in, is called "Fat Man Auto Repair". And it appears right after the karate school scene.
Maybe I am haluzinating but I watch this show in german and when the uncle of Echo appeared I am one hundred percent sure it is Kingpin voice from the german dub of Daredevil. So they would not only get someone to do an impersonation of Vincent D’Onofrio but also someone to do an impersonation of his german dub. But to be fair if they did it I would totally laugh my ass off if the uncle is just some other guy and they put all that effort in just to get or hopes up. Also a little note, it was revealed that there was someone wearing Hawkeyes original costume in the larping scene, but this was cut and now we know it is probably because of the scene in Episode 3.
They did something similar to that in WandaVision when Evan Peters shows up. The narrator says that Quicksilver from the Fox X-Men films is standing at the door.
Apparently ant man was supposed to show up, but due to scheduling conflicts with quantumania, they decided to hold off, but they are supposed to be good friends eventually. Per rumors and murmurs
The thing I am excited for is how the start of the next episode goes, as Jack is holding up Ronin's sword to hawkeye, so will he recognise it and what not
Wild theory - Was Armand III (of 7) a clone? Kate's dad looks enough like Simon callow he could be one of a line of clones. But that's a stretch. Jack's dig at Armand in episode 1 about inheritance could be because he's now marrying into a position where his lineage will inherit the wealth that the clones have been accumulating through the generations.
"Uncle" had better be Fisk and not another Bohner ... I mean, I'm pretty sure that we'll see D'Onofrio's Kingpin back in the MCU, because he was just too good, but then Marvel does love its fake-outs. As for Jack, I have a strong suspicion that all the suspicious stuff about him is just misdirection by the writers, and he'll probably turn out to be a good (or good-ish) guy, while Kate's mum will be revealed as a crook in Kingpin's pocket. Shame about the viewing figures, but I suspect those will get better as word gets around that this show is really pretty great on every level (imo).
I have a feeling Jack was Ronin before he got dusted in the snap, then Clint picked up the mantle of Ronin during the blip. Now Jack is just trying to get his old sword and suit back.
If he was Ronin before the snap then I feel like the timeline of Echo's father dying doesn't line up. She didn't look much younger than in the show. If she's a similar age to Kate in the show (similar to the actresses IRL) then she'd be a teen before the snap.
Clint and Kate will show up at Clint's house in the last episode right on Christmas day wearing ugly sweaters but bruised and beat up and she'll spend Christmas with the Hawkeye's
I don't NOT believe/agree with you.. ...but imagine taking a plane from NYC to middle america bruised and beat up without drawing attention to yourself
i think it's swordsman who killed the tracksuit upper members, assuming kingpin and him survived snap they probably heard the ronin running around used that noise to trim out their unwanted members.
I was thinking this too. Those guys seem very low level for Clint to be going after considering we hear him killing drug cartels in South America and we see him taking out a Yakuza boss in Endgame. Killing someone in the mob while dressed as Ronin at that time would be a great way to throw off suspicion. It's hard to see, but I also don't think it's Ronin's sword in those scenes, it doesn't have the gaps in them like the one in the auction.
The Ronan who took out the tracksuits and killed Echo’s father could have been the Swordsman but it could also have been Kazimierz Kazimierczak (Kazi the Clown) so if that’s the case Echo could feel extra betrayed and turns good leading into her own series
There are so many possibilities for who was in the suit! It's a legit mystery I'm nested in. I think it being Clint would be the most interesting story since it's a consequence of his criminal murder-spree he’ll have to recon with before the end of the series but it Bing someone working for Fisk would set up Echo's journey from criminal to hero really well.
They did name the dog tho, well Kate named the dog Pizza Dog in the diner scene right? She was saying some names until she landed at Pizza Dog and the dog smiled so I think we're gonna hear them refer to him as Pizza Dog from now on :)
I had to go back and rewatch the beginning of the car chase, where the point of view is from the back seat of the car. That scene was shot amazingly and I can't believe the boys didn't have anything to say about it.
While there's been hints of it in the previous two episodes, the visual syntax of this one--particularly with scenes like Echo's flashbacks--is closer to the stylistic aspects of the Netflix shows than anything that we've seen in an MCU product since. The lighting, muted/obscured action (i.e. the blood from Ronin's kill-slice on the window), the relatively 'flat' framing during conversations... it's a bit weird seeing it in the same show that has a forty-foot arrow crushing a truck, but if this is Marvel's way of re-grounding things for the rumored DD redux and other 'ground-level' shows in that format, then they're doing a great job of trotting it out in earnest.
I trip over this every time you guys bring him up XD The newscaster is Pat Keirnan, he's with NY1 in real life. and Spectrum news is a real NYC news company too. They're in all the Marvel stuff simply because it takes place in NYC.
It's actually my favourite marvel show so far, it's refreshing to have a street level kind of show, feels like the best kind of mix between Netflix and Disney plus, not too many episodes so it's not too dragged out and has the great special effects 😃
My favourite series so far. It's fun and not heavy, dark or political like the others have been. There's nothing wrong with those but it's nice to have a break from it.
Same here. I like that it's just a superhero-buddy-cop-show and not something "groundbreaking" or "deep" like the other shows. Just good superhero fun.
I'm ABSOLUTELY loving this series so far, more than the other ones from Disney+. The ASL, the moments of emotion that aren't cut with generic mcu humor, the opportunity to bring over Kingpin & I'm loving Echo's character especially knowing that the actress herself is deaf & has a prosthetic, really inspiring. All so great!🙌🙌🙌
In the video "Daredevil will be Awesome" from 6 years ago you said they should do a Hawkeye series adapting My Life As A Weapon. That's great foreshadowing! Or maybe they saw your video and got the idea
I like the idea that clint and scott became friends in prison, so scott gave him pym tech to use in his arrows, since they were the only 2 to take a plea deal for their families
I like to imagine he uses the USB arrow all the time in the most inappropriate situations. Like he's chilling at home and his wife asks if he has a USB stick she can use to transfer some work files and he's like, "I'll get my bow!"
I actually didn't notice it during the episode but that is almost certainly not Ronin killing the Tracksuit Mafia. It doesn't look like there's any gold trimming on the suit and they're wearing a sheath for their sword, which we know Ronin doesn't because the sword has a collapsible blade. I would say that it could be a very early version of his gear but that doesn't fit with Echo being the same age. I do wonder if it could be a twist on the Swordsman character. I think it's too obvious that he's a villain but it's almost certain that Kate's mother is crook. Maybe Swordsman has actually been working up from the Tracksuits and is trying to infiltrate and take out the corrupt members, and he threatened Kate because he thinks she's wrapped up in her mother's business?
@@Zoper1409 Rewatching the Yakuza scene, you're right that it does. I was mistaken because the sheath isn't on his back when he draws the sword from it, like it is in the Tracksuit scene.
@@Zoper1409 I wish they'd had him throw it in a duffle bag or something instead. This is the worst addition the show has made because just why? It feels like a "hey this would be super cool" addition without respecting the world building. The only way this could even work is some kind of nano-tech, but if we assume Ronin's sword couldn't do this in its last appearance before Clint stopped being Ronin, then why would Tony make that upgrade? And if we assume it could do this all along, why was Clint using the sheath? It's just a bad addition. Same deal with Razorfist's arm in Shang Chi - like some mid level grunt has presumably access to nano-tech or something?
Don't let this show distract you that there is a moth version of Hawkeye called "Moth-Eye", there is a pig version called "Hogeye", and a chicken version called "Squackeye"
Some subtle nods to Echo’s look in the comics… when we first start her flashback there is a handprint on the wall, and when she is cradling her dad’s body he leaves a bloody handprint on the side of her face. Both referencing the painted white handprint Echo has on her face in the comics.
I think it would be way more compelling if it was actually Clint who killed Echo's father, and not someone else. So far, being Ronin has had no consequences for Clint. No criminal knows it was him, his wife's cool with it, the other Avengers don't seem to mind either
Did I miss something? When did he talk about being Ronin with his wife? Not that I’m surprised she’s be cool with it since she knows what he does for a living.
My concern with this show was that it would be mostly about Kate and Clint would be in and out, not really there for a lot of it. I’m glad to see that they both have a lot to do. Seeing Clint get more and more development as a character is really cool, he’s really underrated imo
I'm very much enjoying this show. It's cheesy, it's a bit corny, but lovable characters and interesting plotlines are keeping me entertained. It's just fun.
My big hope for this show is that they keep up with that idea from the first episode that Clint has pretty serious PTSD. I'm afraid this'll turn into another marvel quip fest and then set up something else
I think people aren't watching this as much as the others is that it's not as superpowery as the others. It's grounded, a guy who's really good with a bow teaching a kid who's really good with a bow. Wanda and Agatha have magic, Loki(s) is/are a "god", Bucky has a form of Super Soldier Serum and the enemies. It's grounded, which is why I'm excited for it. As someone who's been wanting a Damage Control show or movie, it's exciting to see the ground threats and life as a (mostly) normal human
Plus the symmetry of Echo, whose dad was a bad guy but seemed like a great dad, and then to find out that Kate's dad who seemed like a great dad will turn out to be a bad guy - I definitely feel like this is where we're going. They're giving us the sword master as the "he's too obvious to be the bad guy" to make people suspect the mom, which is why I think the dad will be the real villain all along. The mom was gone for a long time in that initial scene with the battle, I'm betting we'll get a flashback where he suggests faking his death to get out of their money woes and he'll have been pulling strings behind the scenes.
I think he is coming back based on the jet black dye job of his hair in episode 1. Why try and make someone look "younger" in a flash back if you aren't going to show him in present day with gray hair?

And what exactly did he spoil ? If someone is watching this before they watch the episode than they themselves are spoiling it and if you've already watched it than it isn't spoiled 🙃
Not really a spoiler, more of speculation. And I feel like an idiot for not placing him as that Ronin
@@juz592 I know I've watched the first three episodes. I was just kinda explaining what a spoiler is since this isn't one lol
I don’t think it was swordsman because haywkeye already knew about echo and her dad and that there is still a boss above echo
@@jovankandola it's quite obviously not Swordsman
I wouldn’t worry about the ratings. Hawkeye is one of the less popular avengers so naturally it opened lower. The point of the series is, as Kate would put it, to revitalize the Hawkeye brand
The thing that annoyed me most was an article that claimed Hawkeye was "Woke" and that was it's reason for it's failure. Like.. on the surface, Hawkeye being replaced by a female seems "woke", if they watched the series they'd see that's far from the case.
@@Rebelrose can you send me the link to the article?
XD
What I find really funny is that they all complained at Shang-Chi about Katy's proficiency with a bow having spent only a day or two training, and they were insistent it's not because she is a woman it's just the training thing. So the MCU is like okay, here's a woman who has spent over a decade training, and they still whine about her. Apparently the amount of training wasn't the issue at all, who could have guessed?
it also released on the day before US Thanksgiving with two episodes, it was easily missed when your Aunt is like let's put on Red Notice on Netflix 12 times.

The phone call with his kid as well hit the emotional tone well. Good all round so far!
@@mordecaiwayne652 Yeah, I could literally go on and on. :D The hearing aid being stepped on leads to a situation that they do so much of purpose with. It would be so easy to just go for easy gags and leave it at that, but there are multiple heartfelt, gripping scenes as a result of it. Just wonderful.
I do think we need to prepare ourself for the possibly that this “Uncle” is just Jack Duquesne and not in fact Kingpin. Although I do think we should also speculate wildly about how that hand belongs to Myphisto
Hawk eye did say there’s a man on top who runs everything and it’s said in the first episode that jack couldn’t t afford the sword. So it probably kingpin who’s at the top
the person in the suit is a large person, swordsman is not and for that reason i don’t think it could be him, i do think we have to prepare for it not being kingpin but having it be swordsman is ridiculous given the size of the person in the suit
@@Giecolizard638 I definitely agree, I’m just managing my expectations. Although what you’ve pointed out there is definitely evidence that Jack isn’t at the top
@@_its_lunar_ true marvel usually always messes up with the shows. Hopefully it’s not like what they did with quick silver in Wanda Vison when he was some rando named Ralph boner
Does it matter when kingpin is blatantly in it anyway? That was not a Jack hand cameo
You know, I gotta say. I've been to NY and seen those costumes characters, and it honestly surprises me that the Ant Man street costume was so good, idk why, that didn't leave my mind the entire time after I saw that guy.
We've gotten to have different perspectives on things in the past, we've got some fun action, and the dynamic between Clint and Kate is great, and it's nice to just deal with some street-level people instead of the world/universe/multiverse being threatened again.
if kingpin shows up and the final episode holds up i'd say its better than loki
@@monsieurlefrog8706 Loki was a huge disappointment
@@jamesdalton6581 Loki was the best, what are you on about?
Hands down, Hawkeye is my favorite show Marvel has done. And this episode was the best by far. It's such a shame people only see his character as a joke. There's just so much to love.
Yea I agree...this episode was so good. When Marvel get an origin story right. Like the Netflix Daredevil universe but lighthearted.
He just has the one divorce though?
It's funny cause comic Hawkeye is actually interesting.
Its not weird, its just poor writing.
that was one of the most exciting and interesting chase sequences i've ever seen.
Bro. The car chase scene was bloody great, the cinematography is lit (as kids say these days). Best episode so far, bro.
@Snehil Shrey the camera slowly rotating on the backseat was excellent
@Snehil Shrey Look, you dont have to like it. And both can be good. It just felt to me like the viewer was dropped in the midst of that chaos, sitting behind Clint and Kate. The camera wasnt just there to record (as is usual with Marvel), it was moving with the action. It was just a fun sequence, but as I said, you dont have to like it.
@@tristanstieber6499 Shhhh, these people don’t understand the concept of individual opinion
@Snehil Shrey Thank you for confirming your pretentiousness 🙏🏾
Personally I’m enjoying this show more than Falcon/Winter Soldier. I’m hyped for what’s coming and I’m hoping it doesn’t drop the ball like with wandavision
I agree, better than what if and tfatws. But not as good as WV and Loki.
Yea loki is still 1.
And this is a strong 2.
Then wanda which i hoped was more than that(i know the virus screwed up some final eps)
And tfatws was good but not as.
I gotta say, outside of wandavision this just might be my favorite of the D+ shows so far, really wasn't expecting this
Hold up did the editor find a part of the avengers stage show where there’s green light on Hawkeye’s face for the “Shrekingly good time” bit? Good show Ben or whomever!
The growth tech seems work on living things since it worked on the ant in the first Ant-Man movie.
Some wicked fun cinematography this episode
I think this could be my own personal favourite Marvel TV show so far, it's so charming and fun without really having to shout about it.
Your silliness in this video is delightful.
So the dragons thing could be a reference to the dragon bones under New York or whatever happened in the defenders
Nah that was definitely a reference to Shang-Chi. Maya's dad says they're from another world.

I think it's a reference to the Netflix shows being set in a different universe. Daredevil and Kingpin just look the same (although I still think they brought back John Rhys-Davies as Kingpin)
@@tristanstieber6499 if only he got another shot, yeah I think it’ll be like those stories happened but some things are slightly different

This is easily my favorite MCU show! Its rare that a show frustrates me when the credits pop up because I want to keep watching
Absolutely did not notice 40min go by this time. Seemed like it was super short!
That’s not Kingpin’s hand, its clearly the most infamous villain of all the MCU. Its none other than Corn of Coblin
Another possible hint at Kingpin, is that the auto repair shop, that "Ronin" kills all the track suit mafia guys in, is called "Fat Man Auto Repair". And it appears right after the karate school scene.
I had the exact same thought but idk if Fisk would tolerate that
Maybe I am haluzinating but I watch this show in german and when the uncle of Echo appeared I am one hundred percent sure it is Kingpin voice from the german dub of Daredevil.
The latin american dub also has the same voice actor as fisk in daredevil
*I think in Clint’s mind Natasha did “kill” Ronin because she brought him back from the brink*

Best part of the season so far and not just talking about tax time, certainly beats a pig rolling down a hill....
I don’t care about the numbers, this show is far far better than all the other marvel ones.
The thing I am excited for is how the start of the next episode goes, as Jack is holding up Ronin's sword to hawkeye, so will he recognise it and what not
The course chase was really imaginatively filmed, especially in the early part of the sequence.
Uncle is DEFINITELY going to be a random aerospace engineer who we don't care about.
I feel the same about Jack and Kate's mum. Jack is the red herring.
@@johnnytee911 eh he's an Avenger. He can get away with it.
I hate to get political but WHERE the bloody hell have all those holographic special edition arrows been the past 10 years????
i think it's swordsman who killed the tracksuit upper members, assuming kingpin and him survived snap they probably heard the ronin running around used that noise to trim out their unwanted members.
The phone scene was easily the best scene from all the TV Marvel shows so far.
It was Clint. Why else would he know so much about the Tracksuits and their Boss
As soon as I saw and heard “Uncle” I started freaking out. And they kept refusing to actually say who he was. It’s GOTTA be him.
I am actually watching Red Notice on all my other devices as I watch this video right now.
"Nod ya head! The black suits comin'" I appreciate the reference to that Will Smith song 😆👌
IMO I think they could pull off Hawkeyes comic outfit. I thought Sam's outfit would look goofy as hell but no, they made it look amazing
It’s the hand and suit of corn of coblin

I seriously really enjoyed this episode, had some great aspects and moments
The sword actually does have a sheath in Endgame, the only reason its collapsable now is so Jack could steal it.
Can't tell if comic book characters or nerd entomologists.
Some subtle nods to Echo’s look in the comics… when we first start her flashback there is a handprint on the wall, and when she is cradling her dad’s body he leaves a bloody handprint on the side of her face. Both referencing the painted white handprint Echo has on her face in the comics.
nice one maso!!!
I think it would be way more compelling if it was actually Clint who killed Echo's father, and not someone else. So far, being Ronin has had no consequences for Clint. No criminal knows it was him, his wife's cool with it, the other Avengers don't seem to mind either
Yeah, his wife is so down for that sorta thing lmao
But yeah, I agree.
Did I miss something? When did he talk about being Ronin with his wife? Not that I’m surprised she’s be cool with it since she knows what he does for a living.

As someone who's been wanting a Damage Control show or movie, it's exciting to see the ground threats and life as a (mostly) normal human
her dad is definitely coming back as the bad guy. she talked about how good of a guy he was and he inspired her which is a giant red flag.
