Don't know about an official iron man but something like a deep dungeon but it's a boss rush that level syncs you to the level that you'd first encounter the trial would be dope

@@rathgames Now I've gotten to watch it (the eepies and the curse of being Australian got me), it's sort of funny. So I have two FFXIV accounts, so sometimes I use my main account to pull characters though. And sometimes I wonder, as I'm doing it, 'oh is this going to be easy/hard for Rath and Solo'. And whenever I do Lakshimi, I'm always like 'oh this boss is mostly a DPS vs Healing check' even unsync'd, when I'm not using my strong fully-geared character. I'm glad the vibes were right!

Crazy to go from a boss so difficult you had to cut all restrictions and use a “broken” class, to a boss easy enough that you had to put every chain on and STILL made it through.

Lakshmi is a surprisingly easy trial, indeed. Even the EX is all about surviving enough to out damage her before dying...I am, still so impressed that you did this level synced and without echo at all because I wouldn't be able to endure 45 minutes not making a mistake.

Its been said b4 but i love how Solo Only lets you discover mechanics. I was only ever told to use Vril for the KBI/phase transition. so cool it also had that effect of healing/mitting damage

@@thewanderer5506 ye it is a mechanic that was more necessary in the extreme version when the level cap was 70. the pull of light mechanic would target the second in aggro and would need to be mitigated with the vril or else your OT would fall over

@rathgames about level sync materia. Your correct that level synced gear does ignore materia, but the synced stats aren't the highest you can go. If you have ilevel appropriate gear and add materia you get a higher final stat then the synced gear does.
That's exactly how it works for stuff like Eureka too.
syncing doesn't adjust the stats of higher ilvl gear to the base stats they would be at that ilvl, it just applies the stat caps of the synced ilvl to your gear. If your gear is a significantly higher ilvl than the content it's synced down to then both of its substats will be the max they can possibly be at the synced ilvl, even if materia is ignored.
This is actually exactly why some BiS sets for usually the two most recent ultimates have dungeon gear with materia and such instead of just being BiS from the current expansion!
@@Adorablybadmemes This is because we don't have ilvl gear high enough that will hit the substats. Most likely by the end of DT or start of next xpac, it will be "use whatever you have." TEA bis is like that for most jobs, just use whatever gear you have + ShB relic

I love that you had to do a ton of grinding for Susan-o because he was the hardest boss, and for Lakshmi because she was the easiest.
It took me like five minutes of reading tooltips to even guess at why Inner Release was such a mistake, and then I realized that it (unlike the skill it replaces) doesn't apply to Storm's Path so you can't guarantee a crit heal
I gotta be honest man I really want an episode or stream of you gathering and crafting everything you need to decorate your house someday!

A friend of mine got me into the journey a couple of weeks ago, he told me that this insane guy spent 85 days grinding picto to level 100 just to beat Susano solo, so of course I had to watch it. I went and found the playlist and binged it almost every day until now. I am up to date, and I'm devastated that I now I have to wait for more content. I'm invested in the journey of Solo Only and it inspired me to get back into FFXIV again. I've been playing almost every day since.

@@rathgames Does sending you my love, power, and support count?? Can we spirit bomb this guy?? Or would that violate the spirit of the challenge? (I can take a look at the fight but I don't know if I can recreate the proper parameters to give you any useful information outside of maybe you might have to reroll the dungeon to get the right RNG for the element order)
I love learning about mechanics that I otherwise don't really get to interact with through this series.

I remember doing this back in 2021ish??? I got impatient with my friend group not progressing in ARR and I started a no teleport character which I would solo everything with. I still play them no teleport but I stopped soloing with Holminster Switch. I'm cheering for you, do what I couldn't!!!

while not nearly as grueling as your test me and a friend did do synched down Lakshmi ex for a blue mage unlock with just me as a tank and her a Blu and yeah we learned a lot about managing Chancla during our time with it.

I am so in love with this series. I thought the crystal tower would be the end, and after getting past that? I thought for sure there was no way past susano. I'm sitting here trying to think if there are any more hard walls left in this series like those two, but honestly I don't think there is? There's a couple fights that require Tank LB3 but you might just be able to invuln those. I am so invested in seeing this journey completed, no matter if it ends prematurely because it DOES turn out to be impossible, or if you defy all odds and make it to the very end.
I've been waiting for this! I kept seeing streams of you tackling this, but missed the victory when it happened.
This coming week, I plan to start streaming my own solo adventure, but with the spin of being Only Ever A Blue Mage. It requires bending some rules (eg I kinda have to buy a story skip and then simulate progression locks and all), but I'm very interested to see how a class that was never meant to *actually* be used for progression handles it. Especially since the class is pretty much irrelevant to Solo's journey, so it's a bunch of questions I don't have answers for yet!

The game is slowly adapting to Solo Only's shenanigans. Rather than putting imposible obstacles in his way its now resorted to putting 'theoretically doable' bosses that stops Rath from going all out immediately. Imagine a world where he just never cleared that Echo buff in the beginning.
Remember when Raw Intuition protected you from critical hits? Pepperidge Farm remembers :)

So having played this game for far too long as i'm sure you have also done it would be remiss of me not to mention that raw intuition used to be a parry chance buff that made every attack from the front be parried but any attack from the flanks or back be a guaranteed crit.
The skill you are considering is called Awareness and the reason this misunderstanding may have occured is because it was very common to always use Raw Intuition with Awareness because Awareness cancelled the guaranteed crits by nullifying crit damage. Very cool niche combo, the game is much healthier without its inclusion XD.
I'm more invested in this series than anything netflix has produced

I've been playing since stormblood and i had no idea the vril would make her attacks heal you when she doesn't have the buff! Now Blue Mages Stotram spell makes wayyyyy more sense lol

It's too late for this but you can get 10 squadron ration scrolls a week that for 2 hrs every food will give you "Well Fed" for 45 minutes. This does require you to level up your squadron though.

@@rathgames can't use the entire squadron mechanic,or can't use squadrons in battle? Because I'm fairly sure you can do the entire squadron progression without ever taking them to a dungeon. It just takes much longer to level them up.
@@bloodalchemy the only restriction would be being unable to reach Captain rank 🤔
@@bloodalchemy levelling up squadrons to the point of getting ration manuals unfortunately means you have to enter dungeons with squadron members, thus invalidating the solo only experience

How is inner release a problem over berserk, chat? I have been scratching my head at this problem for a few minutes now but I can't figure it out

I’m wondering the same thing, I have a hunch, but i can’t think of why it’d be a problem….
If its what I am thinking it is.. yeah, poor Solo will have a hard time D:
I can think of two.
1: Inner Release grants Inner Strength which makes you immune to most knockback effects. This is a blessing and a curse; it can be removed with a macro or a click if absolutely necessary.
2: Inner Release grants the guaranteed direct crit effect to the three free charges of Fell Cleave, NOT all weaponskills like Berserk does.
I'm pretty sure it's #2 that is the problem. In the Lakshmi fight we saw a balancing of healing and damage with Rath applying Berserk to his 1-2-3 so that Storm's Path granted healing as a direct crit. That's not possible at level 70 - IF you unlock Inner Release.

OH yeah I remember seeing those Lakshmi crits. I had no idea vril healed you on her mechanics, though. I don't remember my MSQ Lakshmi fight. I just...went in as a normal player, and she died. I probably didn't even main tank. Congrats on the clear as always, and I'll be there whenever I can :).
...I also completely forgot about the hidden viewer. Needless to say I didn't spot him at all lol

Technically endsinger is impossible because of the lb3 for the phase transition(I don’t think you can invuln it) but we will see when he gets there.
@@dinolamb8400warrior of light in 5.3 has the same mechanic requiring an LB3. It's barely skippable unsync with 5+ people iirc

Yeah
The knockback on this boss have a funny interaction with cover. Ususally all effects on your target is transfered to you and with virile on, it shouldn't kill you. Instead it does a hard knockback on both you and the target, killing both. Even if you have virile on. It both bypass cover but still transfer the cover which is a very rare interaction.

@rathgames i should elaborate that certain effects that do bypass cover doesn't transfer to the paladin when it happens. Except for this boss in particular.
