VW T4 underside rebuild Part 2 - Front brakes & suspension, subframe differences and more!

- Welcome to part 2 of the rebuild of the underside of my (not so) rusty VW T4 van restoration project. In this video I start to bolt up some of the remaining pieces of the puzzle including all the front suspension, the steering rods, the front brakes and much more.
Unfortunately I found a few differences between the two subframes I've been swapping over and I had to modify the front shock plates to get around this! For some reason VW also decided to make numerous variations of parts over the years that the T4 was in production, which makes for pretty tricky parts shopping if your using bits and pieces from different years of vans (early vs late). I've tried to explain a few of these in the video to potentially help others out who might be unsure on what parts to get!
In part 3 I will be hopefully be buttoning up the final parts of the puzzle including the rear brakes, the handbrake assembly (from lever all the way to caliper, absolutely everything!) and the fuel tank will be refitted too.
Please subscribe if you have not already to stay up to date with the build!

Nice how did you set the brake compensator valve i just cant get mine right and cant find any good info
Hi, I’ve not yet adjusted this actually, still need to suss that out but there is a small allen head bolt under the rubber boot that can be adjusted, have you tried that?
@@mk2daz good luck when you get to it I have been at mine for 3 years i have to put 3 bags of coal in the back to get it past the test
the other way is to screw the allen bolt all the way in but it could lock up your backs under heavy breaking so just do that for the test then back it off agane
@28101959 thanks for the heads up, I’ve heard they are pretty tricky to get right. I’ll include something in a future video on it I think once I suss it out 👍🏻 cheers
how much for the bushes
£15, they are brand new never used👍🏻
