    • @OlliGarch
      @OlliGarch 17 днів тому +4

      @@cjbottsso true. I worked for years as a meat cutter in a grocery store and some people would ring the bell and want me to cut their steaks etc because the other guy would cut what we called door wedges. lol. I’m sure you can picture that. On the good side I had an old man from Chile who owned a tree farm on a mountain. He owned the whole Mtn. You would never know by looking at him he was a millionaire because he always wore greasy dirty cloths because he worked hard. He would ask for the keys to my car and first time I was like why, he said “just give me your keys I have a gift for you “. He returned the keys and said enjoy. After my shift I went to my car to find a bottle of Chilean wine that was made at a winery he worked at when he lived in Chile. We became good friends and would talk all of the time. He even taught me Spanish, which I can’t remember all of it lol.
      On the other side of things there was a millionaire lady who had a second home in the mtns where the store was. She would ride the store on one of those scooter cart things and go through the store and pick out all the things wrong in the store. We would all hide when she came in. Even the store manager would come tell us the lady from Charleston is here. We would do our best to hide from her but she would ring that bell sooner or later and ask why we didn’t have this or that etc and say well in Charleston they have this or that etc and her husband would just stand there and shake his head and look at us like saying sorry guys I know she’s a pain in the ass. 😂😂😂.
      One time at that store a man called the police because we had ran out of the buy one get one bacon but we had replaced it with another brand and had the same price and deal. When the cops got there they just laughed at him and told him if he wanted he could take it to civil court but would lose because it wasn’t a bait and switch because we even had a sign explaining the bacon situation. Gosh I could write a book about that place. ✌️✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️🤣🤣🤣

    This episode really spoke to me and my current life situation. I've been so depressed, recently disabled, my fiancé cheated, and even though he was the head of our household, I had to cut the rope and tell him to eat shit somewhere-the-fuck-else! So here I am, 40 y/o no income, living below the poverty line, feeling worthless, physically unable to work. I ALWAYS worked. I always was the "bread winner"l." If I lost a job, I had another lined up immediately. Drama-drop, I know, but your discussion on being stuck, not having a tribe, literally having zero people around me to help motivate and build me back up mentally, rang so true. I miss the people I loved before my toxic relationship (that inadvertently made me toxic to be around) and I wish I had my people back and that I didn't spend so much time in my phone, which is my only friend and company. I always love your podcast episodes and am thankful for your words of advice today. Truly, thank you.

    I love JRE and i've listened since 2011 but Rogan is so god damn alienated from regular peoples life that it's silly everytime he talks about the general person. Most of us are not miserable working 9-5 jobs and you can find a meaning in life without having to be an "artist" or podcaster or whatever. In fact, us normal people contribute far more to society than any influencer, podcaster, comedian or "artist". If you all went away, no one would really notice.
    And the meaning of life is pretty much the same for everyone with some twists here and there. Family, friends and so on.

    • @Z0MBM0Z
      @Z0MBM0Z 17 днів тому +4

      You have to realize there are two sides to every coin. So when Joe mentions people being miserable in their 9-5 it's because there is people like that. Have you ever worked fast food, janitorial or had to kiss so much ass to keep your job that you had zero pride left in who you were. That's the people he's speaking to and more. Yet you think that I am coming down on you. And if that's all you get from this then I accept that. You are learning. One thing I can enlighten you on though is that everything matters. Every thought, every action, every desire. Bear that in mind when you equate Joe's statements to a normal person. Have you ever thought, what is normal. And thank you for your comment because I was able to express my opinion. Everyone has potential.

    • @Kat_Fe
      @Kat_Fe 17 днів тому +3

      I mostly agree, but I don't think equating the importance (or its lack) of podcasters and influencers with artists is fair. Artists are the people who have given us literature, music, beautiful architecture/monuments etc, and all of that is important too and the world would be pretty bleak without creative people like that. Artists were important in nearly every civilization and culture and for a good reason. But obviously, it's not like your life doesn't have a meaning if you aren't one. We all contribute in our own way.

    • @Aurathe1v1er
      @Aurathe1v1er 17 днів тому

      @@Kat_FeWhat joe rogan is doing with his mind body and soul is art in one of the purest forms, True self-expression comes from within and reflects an individual’s unique thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. It is not about manipulation, control, or seeking popularity. Authentic self-expression is not driven by external factors or the desire to persuade others; instead, it is a genuine representation of one’s inner self. Art is a manifestation of imagination, intuition, and many other components obviously. There are a wide range of difficulties if you were to compare all the art forms to each other, but I sense you're grasping at the idea of meaningless word vomit related to the trend of podcasts, what about the scripted and more fake versions of the things before that? If anything the podcast movement has jumped the gun forward in allowing genuine human expression. If you don't understand what benefit that provides for people, then maybe you should ask some people that have learned how to heal, how to deal with things, live life better, ask those people who've learned that from podcasts. Podcasters are like the promoters of the artists, working together and collaborating to promote intelligent discourse.

    Happy they mentioned Black Elk Speaks. As a Native American, we consider that as our Bible. The story’s told of Crazy Horse and how he got his name are one of my favorites. Also in the beginning of Dances with Wolves where Dunbar rides his horse as the southern soldiers shoot at him is what Crazy Horse would do. He would ride singing “you can’t kill me im Crazy Horse!” and was never was shot in battle.. until he was betrayed.

    Joe: “people don’t get to pick their current day tribe”
    Does Joe think people picked their native tribe? That literally everyone was onboard with, say, blood sacrifices? Does he think everyone in the tribe got along perfectly? That the tribe leader didn’t impose his will upon the tribe in a “do as I say or die/be exiled” type of way?

      Not every tribe had a central authority established through a sole chief. That is a big misconception. In the Great Lakes area, the chief was established through his knowledge of the aspect that he would run. Ojibwe, Menominee, odawa, ottawa, potowatomi, and Ho-Chunk all had different kinds of chiefs. There was chiefs responsible for the structure making, chiefs for war, chiefs for monitoring rice beds, and chiefs for hunting. So this idea that one person had control over the tribe is entirely not true in a lot of regions. This system allowed people to specialize in certain aspects that would benefit the tribe.

    As a mixed Native American (50%).. who grew up and was raised off and on the Navajo Reservation.. And who is related to Geronimo.. my cheíí cheíí (grandfather) taught me how to survive off the land, how to track, how to hunt, butchering, etc. he always said that I reminded him of Geronimos brother, Cochise! And told me stories that he was told as a kid on how they fought alongside Pancho Villa! And why there is a Navajo/Apache clan called, "the ones with Mexican blood"
    Some of the things Greg had said, about our culture and the Native American way of life- was just.. sub par at best. Underwhelming, if you will.
    I would love to talk to Joe Rogan, because I feel like we can talk about a whole bunch of stuff! Shit, probably bring him to the 14k acres of land that I inherited and hunt some White tail, mule deer and or elk!
    Not only that, a certain part of my land (faster to reach on horseback), there are cave dwellings within the canyon from where my ancestors and their ancestors lived!
    Man, that'd be super cool! Ever so often, a band of wild horses cruises through the backyard as well! And finding old school arrowheads, spearheads, and axeheads whilst herding sheep! 🤯

    He’s a very nice guy and a great painter. I wrote to him two years ago asking him about painting full time and he very kindly wrote back to me, I forget most of what he said, but I’m certainly still doing it and don’t ever plan on stopping until I make some sellable pieces.

    Kept refreshing UA-cam today because I was hoping that Metzger and Dunnigan did a podcast with Joe while they were in town. They did add an extra "episode" Monday night, so maybe they are recording the podcast as I type this. 🙏

      People like you cause problems for yourself by being difficult with cops from the jump, holding your phone in their face and being difficult. I know you people lacked father figures but if you just listen it tends to be a lot easier, if you think your rights were violated be an adult and take it to court, they have body cams. Don't stand there and make a fool of yourself and give the cop a reason to be a dick. They are people trying to do their job and people with nothing better to do like you would rather go make someone else's job hard instead of finding steady employment, you're pathetic.
