- Hello everyone and welcome to todays episode of Beyond The Mask. Today, I’m going to be revealing and discussing the very first draft of Scream, or ‘Scary Movie’ as it was known originally, and how the original motive from Billy Loomis & Stu Macher was different to the motive we got.

Interesting. In the 80s a female teacher from my high school groomed and slept with 3 students. 2 of the guys committed suicide before they graduated.
The media portrays situations like that as a "guy's fantasy." It's not.
It has emotional consequences.
That's awful.
I think they should have kept that storyline because there were so many storylines in tv and movies with the false narrative that it's okay if the student is a boy. Why not shine a light on the reality of it?
Oh no I’m so sorry.
Them getting their D wet probably wasn't the problem, more likely the bullying after
Depends if the chick was hot, if its some old chubby chick its definitely a crime but hot chick those guys should've counted themselves lucky.
@@nialllappin4159 that’s beyond trashy. Go away.
A big part of the fun of Scream is the self-aware focus on the horror genre. Having a situation like the original one would have turned it too much toward a real crime drama and away from a mocking indulgent parody.
I agree. It would have changed the tone of the movie completely.
Problem is the more the series went on the "we're so clever for pointing out horror cliches" routine got annoying.
I prefer the motive of the one we got. Now if this was a story about how Billy and Stu get revenge on a local female paedophile that'd be an interesting revenge story exploring how trauma in some can form. I much prefer the one we got because the motive is so light which makes the pair more psychotic, like Michael Myers in the original Halloween having no motive to kill anyone, especially as a child, and it makes sure the audience have no sympathy at the end.
I agree. If they had went the original way, it would have been hard to feel empathy for anyone in this movie, and that would have made it just shitty movie. The audience needs to care about the victims and hate the killers. Otherwise there's no point.
If shes hot she would have been doing Stu and Billy a great service
Same. I'm all for movies highlighting the suffering of innocents, but it would've ruined this particular movie for me. Maureen and Sidney would've been totally unsympathetic and I wouldn't have cared as much about Sidney winning. I also would've not been able to feel any significant outrage at Bill or Stu.
Then again, I do also think it made the movie work less well... I couldn't relate to Sidney because she seemed too perfect and their motives made no sense. Now I know why.
Maybe that should be a separate movie that plays out differently.
honestly, their motive makes a whole lot more sense than "youre mom was whore and destroyed my dads life", feels more personal and makes more sense.
except that I don't believe that shit about boys becoming killers over that shit. Come on. Girls need to be the ones to become killers over that shit as much as they think it's ok when grown ass men are knocking up their underaged students. When was the last time you heard of a male teacher going to prison over the same shit you hear of a female teacher going to prison over having sex with her students? Hell, these grown ass men can grab a little 10 yr old girl and kiss her on the lips in front of several people and NOTHING is fkn done. YES I have trauma, but for my daughter not me.
Agree!
That's because you have a functioning moral compass, impulse control, etc. You're not a sociopath. This is the exact sort of entitled, victim complex, bullshit that a sociopath would pull to justify turning into a serial killer.
@@mysteriiis
Maybe but this wouldn’t be that entitled.
Nothing entitled about being groomed and r@ped
Not to mention Sidney whould be facing a moral dillema, and Scream 2 whould be much different cuz Sidney whould probably still be thinking about her mothers actions plus the whole "my boyfriend and friend became killers and tried to kill my father and me".
Makes more sense as why stu was involved rather than a peer pressure throw away line
I think Stu was a very empathetic person and peer pressure is a valid reason if he’s more of a follower and doesn’t have his own moral compass. Billy was probably manipulating him for years. Also that line was hilarious.
Maureen needed to be a sympathetic character… having said that it woukd have made Nancy Loomis’s rage toward Sidney more believable in Scream 2
What??? Sidney's mom was banging her husband AND Sidney killed her son! Lol why wouldn't that be believable rage?! Lol
From what I understand, she was already batshit before she found out that her husband was cheating on her
Maureen didn't need to be a sympathetic character, only Sydney did
That's the major problem. No way in hell does this ending justify sequels.
@@mysteriiisI mean I would assume if this was the ending then the sequels would’ve been different
I think it’s great that they cut this motive in exchange for the affair, because really the whole point and theme of the franchise is the imitation of scary movies. It’s the joy of killing. Maureen as a groomer would almost have made it too deep and distracted from the whole conversation about life imitating art
I love the idea of adressing female predators, but this wasn't the right movie to do so
Yeah save that for the American documentary of why female teachers keep sleeping with their students 😆
I actually like this idea a lot. It’s VERY dark and would’ve made this movie the darkest one of the whole bunch. And while I absolutely love the version we got, this would’ve really initiated a HUGE moral debate among fans.
It’s very much in the vain of the arguments people in the Death Note fandom have about Light’s escapades as Kira. People always wonder if what Light was doing was justified by killing criminals en masse. And yet, it’s so heavily debated because there’s one camp who feels he’s justified, and another who feel he isn’t.
I’ll die on the hill that Kira was a necessary evil and the world should’ve left him alone to remove the horrible people from it since there is no true justice anymore.
This version does make more sense for why Stu agreed to kill people. That always made little sense but as we know from real-life cases, one person can convince a weak minded person to do unthinkable things.
well he did jokingly say it was peer pressure that caused him to help Billy
That makes so much more sense and that is something that is overlooked in society.
I think they should have kept it.
Honestly this would be important in this social climate
Yes! But people don’t like to get too uncomfortable, rigth?
@@Rawlamb59 the right type of outrage would at least be good for publicity 🤷🏻♀️
I wish they kept the original motive cuz then billy n stues motives make Moore sense.
Holy fuck. I know it wouldn’t have went over well with most audiences but this is DARK and I love it for the motive.
I’m glad it was cut. It would have made stu and billy the victim revenges rather then psychopathic.
Beyond the mask just dropped the best Halloween video this year. I didn’t know any of this
I kind of like that motive. It would make things more interesting and make you question who the bad guy really was. But I'm not sure Scream would be what it is if they didn't focus on the movie making motive
I like the idea of discussing the grooming and r*ping of male victims because, usually, they’re offered high fives for “bedding” older hot women, and it shouldn’t be discussed in that way. BUT, I don’t like this premise because, if you remember, Roman was the mastermind for all of the murders since the beginning. I’m not sure how they would have tied him with this motive and that’s probably why the writers changed this. The motive they chose allowed space for sequels.
Scream 3 had a different writer. Probably why it is the weakest of the franchise.
That plot while darker would have been so much better. This is why censorship makes no sense. Shit that wasn't allowed even in the 90s is common place in lifetime made for tv movies. wtf
this was way better--I hate words like "problematic". because otherwise we're left with Stu's motive being turned into a joke, and despite how funny it is the movie is no comedy
If Billy, Stu, and Maureen had been Billie, Stella, and Maurice, then the original ending wouldn't have been considered as problematic.
People can act all prudish all they want but that original plot would've been crazy. If they were to reboot it this should be the new motive
True!
This was a different twist to billy and stu and it's crazy.
The original script makes more sense than the one in the final movie. You could tell both Billy and Stu are tormented by something or someone, but they hide their pain very well. In all honesty it was best they go for Maureen being a predator since around the time Scream was released Mary Kay Letourneou (or whatever how to spell her name) was going around hurting young boys. They should have addressed female predators. Something the average day life where we barely talk about women harming younger men and boys out there.
I agree, it gives the characters a strong motive to kill. Any person with common sense would understand the reasons of the characters without justifying them, it would be the story of victims becoming the bad guys, still I think it's difficult for a large part of an audience to grasp this without going to the extremes.
Probably because it's extremely rare.
@@vikingsong2068 I wish more stories took some risks on mainstream media, I have nothing against formulatic stories or archetypes of bad guys vs good guys but having at least one not too pc element once in a while doesn't hurt.
@vikingsong2068 It is still happening. There are still adult female teachers ab*sing young male students.
@@archangeljophiel2019 It is extremely rare.
Oh the complexity that is Scream. Would’ve been more Greek tragedy with stuff they cut out, but that implied rape in Scream 3 gave a stronger sense to Maureen’s damaged character. That would’ve touched (no gross pun intended) a bit on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre side of horror.
Scream 3 is actually a pitch black dark story when you take away the silly and comedic elements.
It's best that Maureen, being a groomer, was cut out of the final draft of Scream. Her extracurricular activities with Billy's dad (along with her tragic back story in Scream 3) is enough of a proper motivation for the ensuing chaos that unfolded over the original three films. Her being revealed as a groomer is just as bad as Laurie Strode causing the bus crash that allowed events of Halloween 2018 (and Kills) to take place; It makes Laurie no different than Michael Myers.
Wait how did Laurie cause the bus crash? I literally just watched this movie a week ago and if you watch carefully it actually shows that Michael’s shackles are loose as he’s walking out of the facility. No way Laurie did that as she was in the car the entire time, refuses to go inside the facility at all as explained with her interview with the journalists, and there’s no way the facility would allow Laurie to get close enough to touch Michael
@@natedog8281 Laurie freeing Michael is a fan theory that is mentioned in one of the Halloween videos by CZsWorld. If I remember right, he speculated on the scene where Laurie is waiting just outside of Smith's Grove as Michael is being transported. We just see Laurie screaming before the scene changes to the Nelson family dinner where Laurie arrives to have her breakdown. CZ speculates that her behavior is very suspect, more so the next day where she's not even fazed by the news reports of the bus crash, indicating that she may have caused it. While I find the theory intriguing, it really destroys Laurie as a sympathetic character as she would be directly responsible for ALL the deaths in 2018 and Kills. Why on Earth would I want to cheer for this scumbag who freed a murderous killer?
Making Sydney's mom a groomer completely recontextualizes the motives of Billy, Stu and to some degree Roman Bridger. It's one thing for Maureen to have issues with fidelity due to her tragic past in Holly-Weird, but screwing around with a couple of 15-16-year-old boys (one of which she's screwing their dad) is a Bridge too Far.
@@natedog8281 I forgot to mention in my answer, Laurie uses her Truck to causes the bus to crash.
@@TONYGILLEYThat's a dumb theory. Anyone that actually paid attention to Halloween 2018 knows that it was Michael's doctor that helped him escape. He wanted to study him in the world and try to find out what motivates Michael.🤷
@rickiesanders453 You don't have to convince me. It's a horribly stupid theory that most Post-Modernist "writers" use in abundance today when crafting their sh*t scripts; character assassination disguised as "subverting your expectations."
Like everyone, I'm glad this was scrapped. As a survivor myself, I'm tired of the trope of "sexual violence makes you either stronger or a monster".
Yeah. All it does is make people look for victims in monsters who may/or may not have been victims to begin with.
As a survivor, I can’t agree with this one. It does change your life, never for the better. And it’s hardly ever acknowledged as horror when the victims are men.
@@Rawlamb59 I agree it's never acknowledged when men are victims and women aggressors, but if they'd gone with that backstory, making them killers wouldn't have be a good setting to talk about this issue. Murdering Maureen ok, it could've been explained that way, but not the others. Especially when Billy is shown as sexually frustrated towards Sydney... 😬😬😬
@@mael8881 I think you are not leaving any space for the gray area and assuming that all the audience would react the same way and process the information in a singular line of thought tho
@@Rawlamb59I am so sorry for what you endured. I am also a survivor. I admire you for your strength and resilience. It is a luminous ray of hope in this horribly corrupted world. I am wishing you only the best.
Yeesh, that sounds so much better than what we got.
I wish they had kept that. It would have been a perfect motivation/reveal.
Listen, no disrespect.
They should've gone with this story because it makes more sense as to why Billy was soooo f**ked up mentally.
Yea, Billy did see his dad cheat on his mom, but with how Skeet portrayed that role, I knew it was something much deeper.
Tha well. 😅
I mean later on in ether this movie or one later on you find out that Sidney's mother Maurine Prescott was trying to become an actress and gets passed around to all sorts of different men and she has a child out of wedlock and moves back to the town the movie takes place in. This kind of feels like Maurine was being groomed so then she too grooms others not an excuse for bad behavior but if you are going dark and slasher i want a dark background you know what i mean.
Cotton was like 25 years old not 15😂😂
He was still younger and hot as Tatum said
Still love how the piss take version took the original name of Scary Movie
i was groomed and sexually assaulted by my father when i was a child but i think this version would’ve made so much more sense and it honestly would’ve had such a bigger impact on the audience. grooming isn’t a topic that gets talked about enough, especially back when scream was filmed. it probably would’ve made more people aware of how damaging it is and how someone you love can be a groomer. i think that most of the people who are saying that it’s “too dark” don’t realize that it’s such a common thing and not talking about it doesn’t make it go away. scream is literally about people getting killed but somehow grooming is where they draw the line. i bet it would’ve made people think about the warning signs and it could’ve helped so many people. but people would rather keep quiet about it and act like it isn’t happening. also for the people who are saying that it wouldn’t have made sense or the audience would sympathize with billy and stu too much, in the nicest way possible i personally think that you’re just uncomfortable with the topic. the movies that come after the first one would make a lot more sense. billy’s mom would have more of a motive to go after sidney other than just “you killed my son so i’m going to kill you”. in the third movie they could’ve had roman killing because maureen abandoned him and because people raped her. but also he might have thought that her being raped lead to her raping boys and grooming them because some victims do end up becoming the abusers later in life. it’s not a high percentage but it does happen sometimes. maybe roman thought the people who raped her are responsible for what happened to billy and stu. and maybe sidney still doesn’t believe that her mom would have done that. it sucks but it’s not uncommon, my brother and sister don’t believe that our dad sexually assaulted me for years. roman could be frustrated because of this and decide that he should kill sidney. in the fourth one maybe jill was groomed by maureen as a kid. it wouldn’t be a huge surprise, it happens a lot with family members. maybe this makes jill want revenge on sidney because she’s seen as a hero but she still defends her mom. when jill reveals herself she could break down and tell sidney what happened and this might make sidney realize that her mom was a groomer because she actually cares about jill and seeing her have this emotional reaction when explaining could open sidney’s eyes. but jill thinks it’s too late so she continues on with her plan. sidney has to kill jill to protect herself and the people she loves but she finally comes to terms with the truth. this would also be a good way to move on from that motive since the last two movies take place so much later and since sidney isn’t the main character anymore. it also would’ve made the last two movies feel less repetitive. i’m not saying that’s exactly how it would’ve played out, it’s just my opinion. also it gives the killers more depth and the audience would feel more conflicted. the audience would’ve reacted differently because no one thinks the same way and i believe that this would’ve made more people talk about the movies and more people would show the movie to their friends or family so they could see their opinions on it and then even more people would be talking about it, causing the movies to become more popular. i’m not saying that i’m 100% right, this is just my personal opinion. i think it would’ve been more captivating and more interesting and not as many fans would’ve walked away from the franchise as it’s gotten more repetitive. i know it sounds like i hate the franchise but i actually love these movies and tbh i don’t mind things being reused because i know what to expect from these movies. i just think that it could’ve been even better if the original script wasn’t changed. anyway if someone is still reading this comment, thank you for wanting to know my thoughts and i apologize for the very long novel that i wrote 💀
@@BenjorunnerThey aren’t venting, they’re saying why this notice would have made the movie more different and change the plot. They just said how they related to this topic.
This is awesome honestly. I agree with you on so many levels.
As a survivor and a very loyal fan of the franchise, even if we didn’t get the original version, I’m glad that now I got to know this backstory, it makes me see my favorite ghostfaces in a new light and love them even more.
I think it would have been an interesting turn, in that before "sympathetic villains" became a thing, after watching them brutally and methodically murder everyone like dogs, thematically, it would have added another layer of uncomfortability to the movie, as feeling a shred of sympathy for those we have seen commit such monstrous acts... is not a position most people would like to find thenselves in.
We dont want to have anything in common wuth such individuals, hence why we feel so much conviction in turning our backs on them when finding out they're the villains. However, how do you turn your backs completely on someone who went through that? Now, even if the door is cracked, it's open to the acceptance of that monstrosity, which adds to the horror, because it's no longer about what's wring with them... but about what's wrong with YOU.
In the same way Psycho cemented the asoect in horror that the killer is no longer limited to monsters, creatures of the deep of space visitors, but where the "monster" in question could be your friend, neighbor or even you. To realize that the horror is grounded in reality, something like this scene of have opened to perspective to how the "monster" not only could be you... it IS you.
Not terrible at all. In the end, it's true. Some become this way denying this could ever be them.
Now this is good writing.
If you think about it scream 3 repurposed part of that motive to its story line so in theory the og plan did get adapted
I'm glad this was changed for the final cut of the movie. It would've ruined not only Maureen as a complicated, but tragic figure, but also made Sydney look like she was an enabler who looked the other way while her mother groomed boys her age. It would've also made it harder for Sydney and Gail to help everyone see Billy and Stu for the monsters that they were.
You're looking at this with a 2023 point of view where EVERYTHING is problematic.
This was written in the early 90s.
I know so many love Zack cherry, but beyond the mask provides the best scream content imo. I don’t feel like his own opinion is being forced down my throat, unlike Zack who thinks he is right about everything.
I like both,but I have to agree.
Why can’t you just appreciate someone without making a comparison & being negative toward someone else?? lol your comment about Zack Cherry was uncalled for tbh
@@Dayzus91stop being sensitive

@@Dayzus91its no a comment its an observation. And a valid one.
Oh my gosh, Maureen did what to billy?!
Yup, if this was kept in the movie I doubt we whould be mourning Maureen....
and stu
This broke my heart.
Yeah I’m glad this was changed, that is so problematic.
This would’ve changed the franchise as a whole and thank god they didn’t go this route.
Maureen was never sympathetic. The story always felt incomplete and like something was missing and like each movie was just a manifestation into the backstory of Maureen being a slut. That is why Sydney was sympathetic because she is not responsible for her mother. I loved the Scream 2.
Mickey
I'm only doing this because your mother was a slut.
Sydney
You've never met my mother
Mickey
Well I heard the stories!! And first hand!! Told you I had a partner Syd!!
Debbie Salt/Nancy Loomis enters the room.
It's become a punchline of a movie with a motive not making any sense.
To this day when something doesn't make sense or a plot is underdeveloped I say, "It's because your mother was a slut!"
love the scream we got but i can’t deny the motive for the original script would make an interesting movie too
I don’t really see how Maureen being a groomer would make it that much darker. It certainly wouldn’t give sympathy to Billy or to stu.
Exactly. Not more sympathy, but more understanding, particularly as to why Billy and Stu gravitated towards one another despite having smoking hot girlfriends. They were confused by women and girls, but understood one another. It also would go well with the theme of evil creating more evil. Maureen was a victim, then a predator and finally a victim of the predators she created.
Exactly this! I think people just aren’t willing to see or hear about this topic. They love the horror but say that SA (something that is very real and not talked enough) is way too much.
@@robertphillips213 great comment. I was on the side of glad it was left out and yours is the first comment to make me reconsider my opinion.
I think it would've been good if they kept this in. Society today still doesn't understand that woman can be predators and men can be victims. Having this story/idea in the social consciousness could have helped make some progress by now.
Whilst this could've been a great twist, I'm glad it was cut and the film ended up the way it has.
Omg thank you so much for the link to the original draft, I’ve been trying to find it forever! ❤❤
I think it was good that was never in the final script, because Billy and Stu are supposed to be the villains of the story, not Maureen.
So if they went with Maureen being a groomer, suddenly Billy and Stu are looked at differently and Sidney would grow to have some disdain with her deceased mother, for not only being a groomer but her being responsible for all the murders afterwards.
So it was right that it was changed.
Once the original trilogy was complete Maureen was not portrayed in the most favorable light either.
yk what they say broken villains
In Scream 3 they did kind of make her the cause of all the problems.
@@ct6852 But that was also a part of the first Scream as well.
Because the story is about Maureen’s drama figuratively and literally haunting Sidney. That’s why the killers wear a ghost costume.
@@nu-metalfan2654 Oh interesting. Her ghosts haunting her. Never thought of it like that. Curious if that's why they landed on that costume. I know they went through a lot of masks before choosing that one.
That is super dark. But the motive we got is easier to make a franchise around. This one makes Maureen despicable and Sidney doesn't come off too well either.
Great point with the Rob Zombie “adaptation”
As someone who was groomed as a teenager, I wish we would have got this version.
I'm sorry... Hope you're in a better place now ❤️
Same. But it was probably too ahead of its time.
Honestly, I’m glad the movie is the way it is in the final cut. I prefer it as a dark comedy poking fun at slasher movie tropes. This twist would’ve changed the tone of the film way too abruptly and it never would’ve been able to get that cheeky vibe back. I agree with some earlier comments that I think the topic of female predators should be discussed, this just wasn’t the film to do so. Billy and Stu didn’t need to be sympathetic villains.
Yeah I don’t want to sympathize Billy or Stu
Personally, that’s one of the reasons why I love them as villains. I love how unhinged, goofy, yet unsympathetic they are.
@@lovestumacher agreed 👍🏻
WOW. JUST WOW. This is CHILLING. And this mostly changes the outlook of the film. 😨
This is one of my fave movies, I appreciate these videos taking more of a deep dive into the movie. Thanks!
The whole 'abandonment' thing was kinda lame, but I've always thought that was the point - that the writers intended it to be lame to make the killers unsympathetic. I never knew about the whole 'grooming' thing until now. I'm glad it was cut, though.
I’m glad it was cut too. The movie would’ve been way too depressing otherwise
Interesting how it seems like many draw the line at grooming when this franchise is of the horror genre and there is killing everywhere
@@Rawlamb59 Yeah, but like @chae1557 said, the grooming thing would've made the movie too depressing, and that's probably one of the reasons why they cut it. They might've also been worried about public backlash because the world really looks down on that stuff.
I CANNOT WAIT until Scream 7.
A much better original story and motive
This would have made the movie so much better & more interesting.

Love this video, can’t wait for the scream 4 OG script video too!
Except Eran rewrote Scream 3 not 4.....so.....
This was one of the best videos you've made.
You think that's interesting what I find more interesting is that just a couple years later a parody of Scream called scary movie was released, and it was even better that it was a Wayans brothers comedy.
This should have been in the final cut
Don’t diddle kids
Thank God this was cut, not only is it absolutely gross but it makes Billy and Stu WAY too sympathetic, they’re more victims here than Maureen.
i mean most victims do that to get reveng
It wouldn’t really make them much more sympathetic. They do go on and delight in murdering innocent people.
I mean nothing about going on a irreverent killing spree is sympathetic.
Personally, I don't think it would have matter either way, but I think leaving it out was fine.
It's not as disturbing and the abandonment motivation always seemed kinda lame to me, but it does kinda fit with the satire of the movie, like they don't really need a logical reason for why they're going on a killing spree, they just use any reason to justify their psychopathy.
So, I guess it all depends whether you want the movie to focus more on the satire or the horror.
Oh, shut up.
A lot of sympathy that Billy and Stu might get is sort of undone whey they go off book and start targeting people who had nothing to do with what happened to them.
That's really interesting! And I'm so excited for the mtv scream story to continue
This makes me think of the story behind Pearl Jam's 'Alive' and 'Once'. This isn't as dark, but still pretty dark. I could see a tv series reboot going down this dark a road.
To be honest, I'm actually glad they changed the motive as to why Billy and Stu killed Maureen Prescott in Scream.
BILLY'S MOTIVE
WAS REVENGE
STU
WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE
SCAPEGOAT
MYSTERY SOLVED
Congrats on the novelization man, that's creative.
One story going around, is that Craven wanted to do Maureen being a sexual predator on the film was because Harvey Weinstien was a producer on the film.
Bro they should have kept the original motive. I know people hate dark sense of humor but this is a horror movie and that would have been an incredible motive.
They should have left that in because Sid's mom having an affair with Billy's dad should not have sent the boy over the edge and into a killing spree. I could see if Sidney's mother Maurine was grooming and then raped both Billy and Stu o could understand and almost forgive it. Heck i would have liked that explanation better than the lame one given about Sid's mom having an affair with Billy's dad and getting ideas from watching too many horror films.
Interesting, I always felt the story lacked something, this was it.
I would have preferred this story. It would have at least made sense. Especially, if Sydney doesn't know what her mom was doing.
The your mother was a slut was and remains a walking joke.
This reminds me of the line from Desperate Housewives, "that was the moment Gabby realized that monsters are not born but they were created by other monsters"

If this was the ending we got in the cinema, I think I would had loved this film even more. There was a stronger motive with the killers intimately rather than "your mother destroyed my family" & Stu was just a follower in Billy's mayham. Wow!!! I am in shocked with this ending that thus ending wasn't used.
But the motive that was pretty much set up from the beginning was that some psycho teens loved horror movies and wanted to make their own.
@@ct6852that wasn’t the motive in the beginning, the motive was killing Maureen and her family because she slept with Billy’s dad and ruined his life. Now the motive in the next couple of movies is psycho teens wanting to recreate the stab movies, but you have to remember the stab movies weren’t introduced until the second movie because they were based off of what happened to Sydney, can’t make a movie if it hasn’t happened yet so the first movie had to have a different motive.
We need a thriller strictly about Maureen Prescott. Jusr to clear up loose ends. Maureen had an intriguing life. Call Neve Campbell, get her people on the phone, and have the conversation 😂😂😂 Seriously!
This background song is so good
It would have been much less impactful if the boys were groomed etc.. yes darker and damaging for Maureen…But the story presented was so much smoother
6:30 And instead of having Billy and Stu kill innocents Zombie would have done his usual thinking that making everyone around the killers worse makes them anti heroes.
Would have loved to have seen this version had they gone with it.
That would be so wild
I think the way they did it was much better I don’t think they needed a true justification for their actions just Billy’s delusions and peer pressure is enough. I also think that making them evil serial killers with a motive like that would be bad for people with similar experiences and there are better ways to cover topics like that in film, not making them the bad guys in a campy slasher film.
While I think it was for the best it wasn’t in the final script, however it’s this story side of Scream why I love Scream. Not the meta self referencing pop culture stuff. And I think that these Radio Silence Scream movies don’t have a strong enough story or characters to them.
Scream if it came out in the 80s
Eran Kruger rewrote Scream 3 not 4!
Between this and Williamson's teacher / student plot line in Dawson's Creek, it makes me wonder 🤔
Scream was originally called scary movie?!? That’s hilarious
WOW, thanks for sharing 😊✨🎥🍿✨
I think the ending that they ended up with seems probable. When Billy says “Your slut mother was fucking my father and she’s the reason my mom left and abandoned me.”. If this happed when Billy was younger it isn’t too hard to believe that going into adulthood he would still be bitter for the broken home he grew up in.
I don't know why people are so set on not making Maureen a villain in order to not take the "villainy" away from the guys. You can be a victim and a villain, in fact that's what happens to so many actual criminals. A lot of them have been victims first.
It doesn't excuse or justify becoming a murderer, however.
Would have loved for that level of complexity and realism. But it's not like Scream was so subtle in it's satirical statements, so I might have not fit in the end.
honestly I always felt like the final motive felt last second so I like this original one more
WOW! I didnt know this! Honestly they should have kept this!! Honestly the way Billy and Stu went WAY TOO FAR and Stu really didnt have a motive other than... Peer pressure? Attention?? It was too much for it to just be over an affair..Then again people do kill for stuff like that all the time...But Billy was EXTREMELY fucked up and DARK...This would have made more sense... INCLUDING Maureen sleeping with his dad...😲
Maureen wasn't a good person. Billy wanted to kill Sidney because he knew Sidney knew this, but pretended her mother was a guiltless victim. Gale Weathers pointed this out, Sid was okay with an innocent man being put to death.
