LOVE The Animals! Always wondered how Eric had such a deep and powerful voice come out of him! He doesn't look like one to have that sort of voice. He was very good looking here!
The Animals were fantastic, not just because they recorded most of their earliest songs in one take. They also discovered Jimi Hendrix, took him to London and kick started his career. The Animals guitarist Chas Chandler became his manager. Also recommend "We've Got to Get Out of This Place"
Nina Simone!!! Nina Simone??? You heard Nina Simone....The legendary Jazz Singer....Oh yeah you have great taste in music and you know your music!!! Love Nina!!!! Love The Animals too!!!
Eric Borden's version of 16 tons from Joe vs the volcano. It shows his voice hasn't changed in almost 40 years. One of the most underrated singers in music.
They wanted to sing and play their own instruments but the studio wasn’t properly equipped, and refused to broadcast any performers that didn’t mime. TV was the only media where they could be seen performing apart from live, so most conformed, though many complained. Top of the Pops was notorious for its inability to cope with live music.
The early 1960's didn't have a very deep pool of songs to cover, since rock and roll/R&B was basically 10-12 years old at the time. Rock groups, like the Beatles, Stones, Animals....all looked to R&B songs to "cover"/re-interpret. 1964 saw Nina Simone release her incredible (slower) vocal rendition of this song, and it caught the Animal's attention. They put their British Invasion sound on the song, sped it up, and let Eric Burdon's soulful voice carry it to the top of the charts in 1965. Rare instance where a song was a hit one year and then a hit again the following year under a different artist...something that happened a few times in the late 1950's-mid 1960's. I love both versions of DLMBM!
I'm old, okay? That said, the first concert I ever attended was Herman's Hermits, with The Animals as their opening act. July, 1966. Lincoln, Nebraska. Loved the music then and still do.
Interesting fact about The Animals. Eric Bardon was actually a small guy with a huge voice. Chas Chandler, the tall bassist, was not only a rock star in his own right, but he was also the manager of a famous group over the UK side of the world, ( and a personal favorite of mine ) a group called Slade, I would definitely recommend looking at some of their songs. I will not recommend any, I don't want to colour your experience with mine, what you get from it will be individually yours. And also the manager of a certain guy, you might have heard of him. Jimi Hendrix. Each of these guys were supremely talented in their own right. Together, magic happened
Yep, Nina Simone was the first to record it in 1964, but it was the Animals' 1965 cover of it that became a hit. And the lead singer Eric Burdon did do more after the Animals, fronting a funk-ish group in the seventies called War that had several hits, including great instrumentals like "Galaxy."
Great channel - love that you try all different genres. Another great track by the animals is "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" and for something different try Stargazer by Rainbow I'm sure you'll love vocals, drums and guitar on that track.
Eric burdon vocal chas Chandler bass.alan price keyboard.john steel drums.hilton valentine guitar.chas and Hilton are gone.check out winds of change album from 1968.
Love your reactions you should really check out The Animals "Bring It On Home To Me", which is a tribute to Sam Cooke whom had just been killed in 1965.
"We got to get out of this place" is another great Animals song. If you like The Animals, you'll probably like Van Morrison's first band, Them (try the song "gloria")
Jacobs Dream by Allson Krause Beleive me, you ain't ready for this. Saddest song ever written. I skip this song because it hits home so hard. It's drawn out pain. The worst kind of pain. Love your channel.
@@nickjacobs1770 I’d forgotten about that. Spooky, just played ‘my friend Stan’ a couple of hours ago. Remember, Slade is for life, not just for Christmas.
You commented on knowing Nina Simone's version. They apparently knew 'House of the Rising Sun' from Nina Simone's version of that, so its possible they knew her version of this too.
I really don´t get why no one suggests respectively no one reacts to The Animal´s version of the Rolling Stone´s song "Painted Black"...that is one of the few occasions were the Cover (Animals) is actually better then the Original (Stones)..although the Original is already a big one. This is one of the songs beside of "The House of New Orleans" Eric Burdon has to perform everytime on his concerts because his audience demands it.
The Animals were far beyond their time. If it hadn’t been for the Beatles, I believe they would have been far more popular.
The Beatles were the business end, the Animals and later Eric made good music.🤔🌍✌️
LOVE The Animals! Always wondered how Eric had such a deep and powerful voice come out of him! He doesn't look like one to have that sort of voice. He was very good looking here!
I know. I had a huge crush on him, in the 70's.
The Animals were fantastic, not just because they recorded most of their earliest songs in one take. They also discovered Jimi Hendrix, took him to London and kick started his career. The Animals guitarist Chas Chandler became his manager.
Also recommend "We've Got to Get Out of This Place"
Still hard to believe that voice came out of THAT face!!!!
His voice is similar to Captain Beefheart-another one you would never figure from looking at him.
Sky Pilots and San Francisco nights are another good songs of the animals
My favorite song by them. Thanks for the great reaction!
Love it.
We got to get out of here by Animals
That's the anthem of Vietnam War
Gentle correction: We Gotta Get Out of This Place.
LOL!!!
I don't ever get tired of listening to Eric burdon
Thank you for this....that little adorable face with that bluesy war-torn voice always has amazed me. What a great song!
Keep them going.. "we gotta get out if the place". Another great one from them..
Saw these guys live back in the UK, another good song from that era is "Go now" by the Moody Blues. Try it you will not be disappointed.
Eric Bourdons gritty but powerful voice is very distinct, you have no doubt who it is who's singing...
I love that film! I had NO IDEA that was Eric singing!
Btw, they're a British band!
That faded out because they were miming their own song on some TV show. Great band , great song...

Love love LOVE this song
Great song! I grew up on this music and love to watch people react to it. Especially when it's new to them💜

Hi Javy. Eric Burdon and War will make your ears very happy 👍
I'm old, okay? That said, the first concert I ever attended was Herman's Hermits, with The Animals as their opening act. July, 1966. Lincoln, Nebraska. Loved the music then and still do.

This song was also used in the fight scene in Kill Bill 1 at the end when she kills Lucy Liu, the head of the Japanese gang. It is an awesome song.
Che interpretazione magistrale!!!!
Love your selection of Tunskis!!!
Eric could have sang any kind of music... what a voice....

Listened to this for years without knowing Nina Simone's version. Love both. Animals "we gotta get out of this place" is my favorite
Wow! Never knew Nina Simone did this. She's got a beautiful voice. I'll go look for that one!

Eric's voice was so penetrating. He might have been a good pastor!
Remember the first time hearing this song. 10 years old, snuck into the movie American Me. This song played when they killed pieface.
Love this song
Love Eric, very fortunate to have heard all their hits on AM radio. Yes there was such an animal! Ahahaha 😀. Check out SKY PILOT! Have a good day

Love your reactions you should really check out The Animals "Bring It On Home To Me", which is a tribute to Sam Cooke whom had just been killed in 1965.
Is a good version of a group named Santa Esmeralda that went very popular in the disco era
Pure Quality, right there.
"We got to get out of this place" is another great Animals song. If you like The Animals, you'll probably like Van Morrison's first band, Them (try the song "gloria")
Nina Simone sang it (Jazz), then The Animals (Rock), then Santa Esmeralda (Disco).
He also sang with the group War.
War also has a song called Low Rider 😀
I think you will like
When Lead singer of The Animals “Eric Burdon” left the group to join war. My oh my, React if you can to WAR- can’t take away our music

You need to listen to. When I was young
The bassist (Chaz Chandler) brought Jimmy Hendrix to the UK. He lived in Tynemouth for a period. Not far from me.
After Jimis' death he managed Slade.
@@nickjacobs1770 I’d forgotten about that. Spooky, just played ‘my friend Stan’ a couple of hours ago.
Remember, Slade is for life, not just for Christmas.
Lord gave mercy Jay is so fine.
This song is Badass!!!
Yeesssss yes yes yes!!
You need to check out "We Gotta Get Outta This Place" by the Animals. The live black and white version from a 1965 British TV show is great.
Try The Animals To Love Somebody
You commented on knowing Nina Simone's version. They apparently knew 'House of the Rising Sun' from Nina Simone's version of that, so its possible they knew her version of this too.
This song always reminds me of my brother 😢

Jayy* & HAPPY HOLIDAYS 💚
"We gotta get out of this place"
I believe that it was originally written either by or for Nina Simone.
I really don´t get why no one suggests respectively no one reacts to The Animal´s version of the Rolling Stone´s song "Painted Black"...that is one of the few occasions were the Cover (Animals) is actually better then the Original (Stones)..although the Original is already a big one.

Did you loan them the ornaments hanging from the ceiling from your Christmas 🎄?
As it's Christmas you need to listrn to Slade Merry Christmas Everybody
Hey, I would love to hear your reaction to Dennis de young’s Desert Moon, it’s a very nice song, he was from “Styx”
