I’ve been trying to take a break from Short form content (failing at that but trying lol) but I always click on your shorts everytime. But I love the detail and style of this type of video for sure! I love it’s still got your informative attitude and taking a simple topic or theme of deck and giving your own unique spin on it. I’ve always shyd away from infect since it’s immediate aggro towards you before a land is even played, but now that I’ve been playing for several years now and with each of these decks having their own take on the theme of it, I’ve definitely gotta give it a try. I do have to admit though my favorite part for sure is the brief history behind the mechanic of Infect. I’m the type to wish I had played earlier on in Magics history and find things like the creation of certain mechanics and how they broke metas or historical figures in Magics history all super interesting. So having a quick dive into it’s history and also being super easy to consume makes this whole video worth the watch. Love it man and I hope to see more videos like this for sure!
I really appreciate the kind words here. I get a lot more excitement in making these long form videos. What your saying is exactly what I'm trying to dig into. This week's video is focusing on Stax. I hope you'll enjoy it!
I played the skittles deck against an Eldrazi deck, and it did wonders. It was really fun to race my opponent and beat them before they could successfully ramp.
I love these videos on kinda divisive ways to play the game. I watched your video on Stax which is a deck I've made quite a few times lmao 😂. It never gets old, well for me anyways 😂
1:30 I can't state how **TRUE** this statement is. When I first picked up MTG I asked around at my locals if mtg had any effect or archetype that had like a poison theme. To what I was explained by the shops owner Infect would be something in that theme or something along the lines of a mill deck as your opponents slowly die to getting milled down. The younger me was enthralled by the infect theme and quickly set out to build my first deck to play at my locals. Unbeknownst to me it was met with a TON of scruteny and people just flat out refusing to play with me. And it did honestly led to me stopping to play pretty quickly. Currently picking up TCGs again and dipping my toes into MTGO, I do still have a soft spot for the whole theme that is infect and how it works, even with the negative responses from other players it still is a very interesting archetype. So a tl;dr after all my rambling: What he said is true some players will either refuse to play against you or make some snarky comments. But don't let that turn you away from these type of decks.
Yidris, Maelstorm Wanderer... The one I think who was the funniest Infect commander I have build.. I have built arround 10 infect decks all different colours.. Yidris, Kasseto Orochi archmage, Varolz the scar striped, with many more
Honesty as and infect player, it is extremely hard to win games. The 10 vs 20 counters argument is irrelevant. 10 counters if fine. You still have to get 3 opponents. All Infect players also know to have a back up deck to switch to once people get salty. Game 2 I always switch to Stax.
Blue have counter spell so I don't wan't to play vs a blue deck using counter spell. Red use direct damage so I don't want to play vs that too. Kidding, poison are there with 10 and that it. not 15 or 20 it's 10, that's the rule.
lmao, any 1/1 infect i donate with jon instantly gets me killed. i am instantly arch enemy when i played that deck. my friends essentially play a 3 player game cause im out so fast. it wasnt fun, and usually i ended up only ever getting second place because i would lose to my own guys
I have 2 infect decks, you become arch enemy turn one, people will ignore players in obvious winning conditions just to blow up something small on your board If you can't handle being targeted all game long, don't play infect I just be straight up with people before the start of the game, if anyone gets to 6 infect they arre probably dead, with all of the add poison counter cards and proliferate cards its likely i can end them without even attacking again It makes for a very deliberate game, keeping poison low and even until you can go for the win Volrath and Ixhel are the 2 decks and they play differently, volrath is usually one big boom of infect at a time, ixhelbis a slow bleed on on the enemies so i can get value from what i steal
Might I suggest Skrelv as a funny but not too broken poison counter commander. I mean yes you can use him to quickly wipe people out, but it’s a lot slower going of a process than most other poison decks
Ugh. Clicked on this hoping for something actually interesting and fun lol. But all I got was infect. Go away phyrexia and leave my home plane alone *waves old mirran cane*
Personally I've just been starting to look into Infect decks to screw over my cousin and his GF while playing. As they are the only people in our group that has the money to keep upgrading their decks on a fairly normal basis.
While harder than infect to pull off, Mill seems to create the same rule zero conversation that Infect causes due to how salty it makes people Edit: Not talking about self Mill either

Fynn the fangbearer is a fun one too
He’s pure evil
these are awesome, well written and not overly theatrical in presentation. thank you
*sub'ed
Honestly so helpful. Was thinking of building a mono black infect deck. Just as a silly goofy yeet deck for my buddies Atraxa deck
My friends didn’t believe that poison decks were strong, my uncles Brimaz deck showed me otherwise.
I played the skittles deck against an Eldrazi deck, and it did wonders. It was really fun to race my opponent and beat them before they could successfully ramp.

honestly nic we need a niv mizzet tutorial asap
Ramp to 6, play 32 counterspells, cast curiosity. You. Win
Any ideas for a Sultai snow deck? I know there isn't a ton there but I just love the snow flavour and want to make a good jorn deck
The problem with these decks is you need to infect 3 other players. With Ramses, Assassin Lord you only need to infect 1.

The best poison counters deck is Ixhel land destruction tribal :V
Thought you had a bigger following. Well made video. Keep it up and I think you will go far.
Very kind of you. Appreciate ya.
Nice job Nic infect is definitely salty but can work really well if done right. Would be awesome to see you do something on dragon tribal
My favourite Commander to give infect is a tossup between Ghyrson Starn and Jaya Ballard, taskmage
These sound bonkers! Super fun.
If you transform an incubator token…can you flip it back to the artifact side? If something said “transform” target card?
Nice video!
The scary infects 👻
Yidris, Maelstorm Wanderer... The one I think who was the funniest Infect commander I have build.. I have built arround 10 infect decks all different colours.. Yidris, Kasseto Orochi archmage, Varolz the scar striped, with many more
Maelstrom Wanderer?! Hilarious. If you could only ever play one of them, which would you pick?
Yeah another video nice job 👍
Awesome video! Nic, plz do a video on Grixis commanders 😈😈
I just built an Agent Frank Horrigan deck. He costs a lot, but it’s definitely a different style build
Seeing builds for the top 5 picks of Fallout would be fun!
As in non-precon commanders?
@@nicplz Definitely!!! It's cool to see builds for the non-precon commanders, like Agent Frank Horrigan with his double proliferate

the problem with jon is that my oponants just use removal on the things i give them

Ty love your work!
planewide celebration is always a decent finisher for infect - costs 7 but you proliferate 4 times
Ixhel is probably the single best infect commander that exists and it got no love?
Colorless artifacts pls?
Any you hope to see on the list?
Kamiz is my infect commander. People don't expect it
Tell me more!
You got me with the short.
Oh nice! Thanks for letting me know!

You play it a lot? Just a lil dude
Just hear me out....venser corpse puppet, dross scorpion and throne of geth 😂 have fun!
Never even thought of brimaz as infect
It's a fun one!
I’m playing agent frank horrigan infect deck
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i'm kicking ass badly with my lovely Venser, no better poison commander honestly
nobody likes poison counters. Everyone wants to play with cute bunnies, adorable racoons, and magical otters.
Ugh. Clicked on this hoping for something actually interesting and fun lol. But all I got was infect. Go away phyrexia and leave my home plane alone *waves old mirran cane*
This comment mage my day LOL
@@nicplz gEt OfF mY lAwN
Ehi why not atraxa?
We felt there were enough Atraxa tech decks out there! But def a fun one.
Personally I've just been starting to look into Infect decks to screw over my cousin and his GF while playing. As they are the only people in our group that has the money to keep upgrading their decks on a fairly normal basis.

Edit: Not talking about self Mill either
15, poison counters should be 15 in commander.
