Baylen definitely lives up to her title of the Haymaker. I built her recently because I pulled the raised borderless version of her and if she is able to untap with just a handful of tokens she just eats. She's very much a target of spot removal but the cool thing with her too is you dont need to have untapped lands to make use of mana. Can't say enough good things about her.
Yeah exactly! You just know Baylen is an insane card by just reading her! Very nice that you have the raised foil version, Jig wants to get his hands on that version aswell, not a cheap endeavor :)
Obeka is insane. Plargg and Nassari/ Stolen Strategy goes crazy in this deck. Shaun Father of Synths works really well with her to make copies tapped and attacking that arent legendary. Hatred is a game ender, pay crazy amounts of life to buff her up before damage knock 1 out with commander and upkeep triggers to death the rest of the table. I once resolved 38 Plargg and Nassari triggers off that combo. But be warned, she makes the game VERY long because there are a lot of triggers you have to resolve and shes INSANELY toxic.
Yeah, I can imagine Obeka creating some weird scenarios with the additional upkeep triggers where you have to look up the rules :) How do you make sure Obeka can connect (deal damage to opponents)? That is just what seems to be holding the card back in my opinion, the fact that she has to swing and not be blocked
The only commander printed this year that I built was The Wise Mothman. I actually like building high power decks so I removed all the rad counter cards and just focused on small instances of milling and getting value out of that. Thus far it feels a bit underwhelming, since it gets too much hate before you even do anything, but it's still a work in progress. What works best in my deck is actually the mill-land package that you can also play in Necrobloom (Six, Aftermath Analyst, Gitrog, Shifting Woodland) but with blue you can add some other lines. Baylen is a house, I considered changing my Rocco, Street Chef into a Baylen deck but I liked Rocco too much so I just ended up putting it in the 99. Some commanders that also caught my attention were Zimone, Mystery Unraveler and The Necrobloom. I'm close to pull the trigger on a landfall commander. Cool channel. Keep it up!
Awesome, I love the fact that you run a Landfall package in Mothman, this is why we put him on the list, so many ways to build him! You should really give Necrobloom a try, you have some pieces for it anyways in your Mothman deck! Thanks for the support!
I have a Helga Stax deck. Uses big stax creatures like Archon of Valor's Reach, Grand Arbiter A4, Void Winnower, and my secret tech, Storvald, who synergies with Helga, the stax theme, and protects your board. UWG have some awesome stax fatties and clones to double the effects. Rite of Replication plus that Archon? Good luck to the rest of the table! She's legitimately amazing.
Since we've shot the video, I've changed my opinion and I'm actually considering building Helga! 🐸 I'd go the Control/Stax route as you mention, just playing a control shell and ramping into big value Creatures abusing Helga. Thanks for the recommendations! I can see why Storvald is an absolute powerhouse in this deck! You might see a Helga decktech soon :D Thanks once again for the support!
Good call, Mothman is awesome with Profliferate, both for the +1/+1 counters and Rad counters! Honestly didn't even think about that, Mothman really does it all :)
Honestly Plagon is a sleeper in my opinion. There are a lot of really good creatures with more toughness than power. He's actually putting in some work in cedh because of the value he gives you from the command zone. He awards you for playing cards like drannith magistrate, archon of emeria or felidar guardian. And flickering him doubles that value. I think he could also be really good in casual you just would have to go a bit lighter on the stax cards and maybe replace them with value pieces
Absolutely! Jumpstart is filled with awesome commanders, we could easily put 10 Jumpstart cards on the list 🙏🏻 Plagon’s ETB effect is absolutely crazy for 3 mana! I think what holds him back is being locked in Blue/White when used as a commander 🙏🏻
@PanzerMTG True for cedh it works because you can build a staxy control deck and use him for value but it is harder to build an azurios deck in casual that is not annoying for everyone else
Helga really shines with clones, flash enablers/flash creatures, creatures that interact or draw cards, and untappers. Chakram retriever or Intruder alarm are the choice pieces. Play an ancestral statue or a Venser into one of those and you draw your library into a protected thassas cast. All star cards are stuff like Sakashima, Spark Double, mulldrifter, Inga and Esika, etc. Flash creatures like Overcharged Amalgam and Subtlety really shine. Another awesome bit of tech is mutate. Mutate onto Helga t3 and you’re essentially ramping yourself 3 mana with something like Gemrazer. Sorry for the spiel, just a huuuuge Helga fan😂
Haha, awesome! Thanks for suggestions, since we’ve posted the video i’m on the verge of building Helga myself 😹 I can see that you REALLY love Helga, i’ll checkout the cards and will hit you up when I decide to build the deck 🐸
If you are grown enough to cedh youre grown enough to not play a dead AF Thassa’s oracle in your Stella Lee deck. “But how do I win?” “You have your entire deck in your hand. You win.” “But how?” “That is how you win” 😉 Friends don’t let friends jam useless thoracles into non black decks. You are gonna have to learn to play a bit. But then you don’t top deck a dead card (Thoracle) when you’re in an actual battle. Thoracle is a bad card. When you are planning to draw your entire deck (usually w infinite mana in Stella Lee) you don’t need to have a bad card you have ALL the cards Plus the wicked roll token untapped just murders everyone w Stella while she draws the deck. F Thoracle. It’s a newb card.
Thanks for sharing your take! Stella Lee absolutely doesn’t need Thoracle to win when you’re drawing the entire deck, and I agree it can feel like a crutch in certain builds. That said, some players like having a clean win-con in unpredictable metas. How exactly does Stella work with the Wicked Role token?
@ First, enjoyed the video. Happy to engage. Small channels need to stick together 😉 I play budget comp and cedh. Never played Stella but have played against her twice in cEdh tournies. There is a card that, for 3 mana, untaps target creature and puts a wicked roll token on it. A creature can only have one roll token. If you put a new roll token on a creature the first falls off. When a “wicked roll token” falls off a creature it deals one damage to🤔 a player? Or target? Or players? 🤷♂️ it pings. lol. So if you infinitely untap her and put wicked roll tokens on her the previous token keeps falling off. So it just murders the table. I think prob most cedh versions do also play Breach? But breach in Izzet kinda sux too imo. Not cause breach sux but because you sorta need to play LED and Brain freeze. 2 dead cards 👎 You only have 2 tutors for breach in Izzet, that I can think of. So usually you’ll draw one of the two dead cards and not the breach. But I’m no expert on Stella Lee. Just don’t let her get to that third spell alive! lol. That’s what I know about her.😉 Oh, yeah, some people do use Thassa’s as a clean win con just as a sorts “this is way easier” kinda thing. I would just say that’s not often going to be actually optimal. Some people used to run it in Niv Mizzet 🙄. You absolutely don’t need thoracle in Niv. Niv 😖.. RIP. Actually Niv is alive and well in $100 cedh. If you’re interested in seeing what a $100 deck can get up to take a look at my channel. Proactive $100 decks are trying to win turn 3 or 4, believe it or not. No thoracle required. 😁 Namaste homie 🖖 Maybe take a look at the last deck tech I did, Raggadragga. Not the fastest but a very consistent turn 4 murder machine with interesting play lines Edit; I actually did a tech for Valgovoth (precon power up) if you wanna see what a more comp build looks like ($100)) Wrong one. Lemme grab it
Hahaha alright, Imskir did catch our eye, but we didn't think he was worth a spot on the list :) Don't get me wrong he is a very very solid commander you can do some shenanigans with!

I’m running a Baylen deck with 24 Hare Apparents…. It is absolutely insane, I highly recommend it.
That's awesome! We didn't even consider Hare Apparent, Sounds very potent! 🐰🐰

Helga is one of a kind
She sure is! 🐸
Actually reconsidering building her in a control shell :D
I've loved necrobloom, it's a odd color combination for landfall, and I truly appreciate the graveyard aspect of it
Big love for the flower 🌺☠️
My favourite card ever printed!
Awesome list! I love all of them except for the Mothman 😂
Hahaha, that's fair!
Thanks for the support
One mechanic that you didn’t mention with Mothman is Proliferation with cards like Thrummingbird and Dreamtide Whale.
Good call, Mothman is awesome with Profliferate, both for the +1/+1 counters and Rad counters! Honestly didn't even think about that, Mothman really does it all :)

The downside of playing stax, no one likes you at casual tables 😹

I had no clue the role tokens fell of, thanks for explaining it!

Happy new year!
Without Imskir Iron Eater on this list, it is objectively wrong. Do better
