    Ladies and gents. This is a Certified Ford Motor Company/Automotive Service Excellence Master Automotive Technician!! Not a mechanic!! This man knows every part of a automotive. I'm certified by Gm/ASE myself for 20 yrs since i was 21years old. We spend countless hours in a classroom and in front of a computer staying up to date with the automotive service industry. As well as a lot of our own money to stay ASE master certified. We are paid well yes BUT when you figure in what we pay for tools(in 20yrs over $400,000). Dealing with the public, people calling trying to get free info or diagnosis over the phone. Ppl stopping by your house and job we make about 3 bucks an hour. I never get to go anywhere,not wvwn my kids school wothout getting a car question!! True story.

    I really like the method. On non Fords we can use a scan tool to activate the compressor. I like your trusty window motor. I remember that one from the old old days. Back when u used to use your little Bosch for almost everything. I have a little old SnapOn someone gave me for the quick light stuff. The trigger is forward and reverse. It’s small and really light. Everything else is the Milwaukee ratchets. I use four of them. The extended one is super powerful and it gets everywhere.

      It was in the beginning, I can tell based on the output temp and low side pressure how healthy the compressor is so I rarely have to hook it up. I pretty much only use the high side line when diagnosing scroll compressors.

      Thought the plug was my issue also. Running KOEO self test clutch line shows .02V when actuated (Backprobed), test probe confirms good ground. 12V direct to clutch activates and confirms good clutch. With vehicle running if i apply direct voltage to clutch it activates and pressures pull down perfectly. Live data stream on scanner says ECM thinks compressor is activated, both pressure switches good, dash switch registers......WTF am I missing?? Power lead wire to clutch has to be bad but can find a split stripped back to big wire bundle. Fuse is good and swapped relay with horn to be sure.....Anyone have any ideas?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  2 роки тому

      During KOEO test check power and ground harness side with the connector disconnected. If it shows battery voltage but drops to your reading of .02v when back probed and loaded up by the clutch then you have an issue with either the clutch relay or the power side lead. Load test the positive wire and swap in a known good relay from the power box to see which.

    • @michaelreynolds9251
      @michaelreynolds9251 2 роки тому

      @@FordTechMakuloco Reran the KOEO test with clutch wire removed, negative on wire grounded to battery and meter probing the hot side of the plug. This time when test activated meter read .04V. Returns to zero on test completion. Swapped Relays for horn and compressor testing function of both and achieved same results. Followed the clutch wires up to the disconnect plug on side of battery housing, unplugged and ran leads from + and - on battery to female pinset in disconnect for clutch wires. Clutch activates. Going to flip fuse box in the morning and test wires all the way to relay. Has to be a split under im thinking. Will pickup a few new relays also.

    My fiancé has a 2017 F150 and while we were coming back from vacation, the AC quit. I had her pull over at a rest stop and discovered that the rubber part of the clutch had basically disintegrated leaving rubber flung all over everything. Truck had less than 33,000 miles on it and of coarse was out of warranty due to it being four years old.
    This truck has the newer 1234yf refrigerant and none of the local shops were equipped to service vehicles with this new stuff so we had to take it to the dealer to get repaired. Just replacing the clutch was going to cost almost as much as just replacing the whole compressor so she had the compressor replaced. $1,100 later she has working AC again. We tried to get them to fix it under a good will warranty but no dice. Needless to say my fiancé who is a life long Ford owner was not impressed. Her last truck was a 1 ton 2003 Ford Super Duty that she bought new and it still had all of the original AC equipment and had never been recharged in the 14 years she owned it and it still blew cold air.
    Great Video.

    Thanks for the videos. Question: 2010 F150 FX4 5.4L V8 w/ automatic climate control. A/C stopped working a couple of years ago. Finally got it diagnosed and needed a new compressor. New compressor has been installed, system charged to 58, new A/C pressure transducer, relays are good, fuses are good, put in a new blower motor resistor today, climate control cluster is functioning properly, had a second mechanic check PCM and control would send signal to turn on clutch, but it went from ON to immediately OFF. I brought it home and ran the Key On Engine Off test and clutch engaged just fine. Used Forscan to run the HVAC test and no faults. No HVAC DTC faults either.
    Wondering if you have any suggestions on my issue (other than "give and up and sweat out the Texas Summer, buddy"). I did pull get the ProDemand schematic for my VIN number and page 2 of 3 shows the Instrument Cluster on MS CAN 10 and 9 on Computer Data Lines running to the PCM HS CAN - 43 and HS CAN + 59

    Edit: My 15 yr old cycled through the fan settings and turned it off and on and it worked a little better 2 days ago.
    I got in my 2010 today and the AC is colder than it has ever been. I drove 20 minutes then shut it off for about 15 min. When I walked out it was hissing. The lines blew out and lost all freon.
    The shop says the gauges don't read correctly on my truck. The manual gauges and AC machine showed equal after replacement on 100degree outside temp. The system in my truck has been completely replaced except the lines. I'm at a loss and can't afford to keep putting money into the system. The truck is great other than the AC. @fordtechmakuloco

    With those pins in the plug spread out, it makes me wonder if the original clutch was even bad. That doesn’t matter, the owner or previous mechanic ( I use the term mechanic loosely) has a parts cannon!

    Do you have a video about why fans on a 13 f150 would run on high with ac or defrost on. I’ve got ice cold ac ac pressure sits around 30 and coolant is full. The temp on the dash is normal and no lights or codes

    You could apply 12v to the clutch coil. Or see if it’s getting power at the connector

    That rubber donut is ate up on mine would that mean a clutch failure or my compressor locked up

    I had bad O2 sensors replaced last Friday, and when I picked up the truck the Air Conditioner now doesn't work. Would there be some connection?

    On my 2011 f150 XLT Ecoboost , the AC clutch comes on and stays on , but does not blow cold air. I am thinking low coolant but not sure. Also, the fan used to stay on the whole time the AC was on but now the fans shuts off but no cold air. I can feel cold air very briefly upon startup.

    After the blower motor wearing out caused the blower switch , resistor and pigtails failed on my friends 2010 E250, 5.4. I pointed out he could install a heavy duty switch to the ground side of the fan to bypass the fan switch and resistor and now on the hottest days in so cal inland empire the A/C blows even harder do to reduced voltage drop and it still goes off with the key do to the blower relay.

    PinOut: Do you know what the connector voltage settings are for a 2012 Ford Escape low pressure switch and do you know what the Ohm values are for a 3 pin HVAC low pressure switch are?

    Hey just out of a curiousity have you every had a no power to AC clutch, clutch can be powered up separately, no issues with pressure, low pressure cycle switch replaced, ambient temp replaced, AC clutch relay and all fuses replaced just in case. The relay clicks when the AC request is made, but no power is getting to the AC clutch. Ford dealership wants to replace the compressor, which I ask: ok if the compressor is bad, please tell me how you know, and if we replace it please tell me how you know it will get power? Just curious as I can't seem to find a high pressure sensor listed in any diagram, and I am curious as to how the EVDC sensor factors in? Thanks, your videos about diagnosing components helped out and showed no power was getting to the clutch. Tech didn't even test the AC clutch, just immediately went to replace the compressor, despite being told that another shop tested everything and couldn't figure out the now power to the clutch issue.

    I have a 2012 svt raptor and the clutch keeps engaging and disengaging. I drained the coolant, pulled a vacuum and reserviced it with 21oz refrigerant per the vehicle spec. Pressures are around 35 low and 150 high…the compressor still keeps cycling after about 30 seconds…runs,stops,runs,stops…..any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated!
