THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO!!! I recently purchased a used C-Class motorhome that does not have lane assist so I am purchasing cameras to install. You are a Southern Gentleman so thanks again.
This was a well put together video with great information 😊 thank you. I have been full time my hole life and I bought a wired 4 camera system and mounted them at the same spots you put these about 4 years ago. It's nice to have the extra set of eyes and night vision to really see those blind spot quick. We are all driving very large rigs and are responsible to use any and all the tools at our disposal to make the drive safe for everyone! Thank you for making this.
I have to say, that I’ve had my commercial license for over 30 years. Always get out and look. Technology is great, but I really suggest that the “ newbie” should learn the old way first. But... I love backing up to my teardrop using my licenseplate camera:-) Thanks again for another great video that opens up conversation.
I just purchased a 2020 Ford Escape Titanium and not only does it come with a hitch, it also has a two view backup camera. Normal mode and hook your trailer up mode. Sweet!!!
I read many of the comments complaining about the crimp on connectors. I tend to agree with them, I studied some electronics (too) many years ago and I prefer to solder all my wire splices. I also use a waterproof putty after soldering.
That looks very useful. My other thought is it would work good to have a few cameras mounted to the outside of the teardrop and have the screen inside the teardrop to see who's out there during the night.
Dude! You got me when you came up with the idea of taking power from your back-up light in the Ford truck tail lights (the fact that you have a real truck, a Ford). I have a system with four cameras and one of cameras I want to mount above my hitching ball to line up the truck to the trailer tongue. Yeah, that is going to work just fine. Here's one for you, for that short distance to drop that wire into a small opening, use some of that electrical tape, a metal clothes hanger. Tape end of wire to clothes hanger end, insert into opening.
Great video......I bought the side-marker cameras and the M7108 monitor after watching this. HOWEVER, AT 8:10, you say camera pairing is so easy it is not worth showing. It was actually very difficult because the pairing instructions in the manual and the Haloview video on their website do not make clear that you must first assign active camera numbers in the Settings menu. This is page 14, items 2 and 3 under Section 10.07. When I turned on my M7108 only Camera 4 was enabled. In my case I needed 2 cameras, so I enabled 1 and 2 only and the Q (Quad)setting. It is important to note that the Menu function key only works when a single camera is selected with the SEL key. Then you can go to the Pairing function for that camera. For some reason my M7108 will not perform pairing by holding down the OK key for 3 seconds. I can only initiate paring from the Pairing sub-menu item function.........I have a 2018 F150 and get 4 bar signals because of the very short distance from my dash-board and the 2 side-marker cameras. With the 1-2 split screen view, I get perfect HD wide angle views for long distances on both sides of my 30ft trailer. Also: I only need to turn on the parking lights on my truck rather than headlights to turn on all of the trailer running lights which power the cameras.
Another great video! Your backup camera is fantastic! We have one that came with our Honda Pilot... and I honestly still don't know how Chris gets the ball directly under the hitch ... I think the Haloview has a better picture though. I still have to learn how to do this stuff =) Getting better at backing up the camper is my 2020 challenge. Thanks again, Mike & Joann! ~ Maria & Chris
Hey y’all! I’m so happy to have it. I’ve spent more time backing up to trailers than some folks have spent driving forward. Lol! This is gonna save so much time. I hope the holiday’s were good to you both. Camping season will be here before you know it.
Only point that should be noted is that be sure that the market light is screwing into the camper frame. Have come across lights and that are only screwed into the camper outer skin. I am sure that the wind caused when traveling down the road will pull that light off. Thank you for the information. Did not see these at the RV store.
Very good video. one question?? What is the draw on the batteries? Amp/Watts? Thinking about getting this for my camper trailer and use them for security cameras at night for spotting bears etc at night on rear and both sides. I have a solar set up on my camper..
Nice job. I'm thinking of upgrading my 4UCam to improve the resolution and possibly add side cameras. I like the display on this with the main camera on the top and the side cameras at the bottom. One issue for me is when you went by the truck at the end it was on your left side but it showed on the right side of the monitor. Is there a setting where you could flip sides like you are looking in your rearview mirror?
@@CampandCamera what monitor was that? I really like the display setting with the rear view on top and the side cameras split on the bottom. I pulled up the MC7108 manual and didn't see that as an option.
@@CampandCamera did you record any videos of using the camera at night? Just camped this weekend and had to back in in the dark and my camera was useless. Couldn't see anything with it.
Neat products. I just hauled a trailer load of seedlings and I had to get out way too much every time I tried hitching up to the trailer. That camera would have come in handy.
Uh oh: Scotchlok pinch-on splices on the back corner of that truck - favored by quick & dirty installers of trailer wiring kits, but NOT noted for lasting a long time in an automotive environment. The camera thing is cool, though. 👍
Love it; but trying to find a camera system that has all you’ve shown, PLUS a front view camera that records at all times on a loop. Haven’t seen that; wish Haloview had it as I’d buy in a second if it did.
That is a lot easier than the 2 tennis balls on magnetic poles to line up the trailer. LOL (that is what I use for my 20ft flatbed trailer). That is the advantage to teardrops you can lift and align the trailer no matter how far off the truck is.
Pretty cool stuff...BUT!...what is law enforcement going to say about your license plate state identification being covered up by the camera and antenna on the rear of the pickup? Great video! Very informational and well explained. Have a blessed day!
Wish they have a red rear clearance light/camera like furrion does, but then furrion doesn’t offer a license plate camera (and they are more spendy). You’d think a license plate camera coupled with a clearance light trailer camera would be popular, but I suppose most new trucks have backup cameras and a lot of trailers have factory installed Furrion housings.
Decided to go with the Haloview MC5111-2 2 camera package and a Furrion housing for the back of the trailer. Apparently the MC5111-2 kit comes with an adapter, and I just don’t like the look of a plain bracket- plus it seems to me the housing gives more layers of protection water intrusion wise for screws and wire penetrations.
I like the idea. However if you look closely at the side lights you will see the drain hole on the top of the light, just waiting for a good wet day to fill the light with water and short out. Turn the marker light over and it will drain instead of fill with water..
Now that you have and what they are I'm going to switch my to that spot that way I can also see where ever that might been dead center of the camper on the right or left side thanks
I don’t see why not, as long as it will fit the space your current marker light is using. However, Haloview makes a variety of camera styles with various mounts. You may find one that would be even more suited to your application than this one.
Don’t quote me on this, because I’m working purely from memory....I think it might be showing an extra black screen because a camera channel was mistakenly paired to it previously. See if you can deactivate that channel. If that doesn’t work, let me know. I remember having an issue similar to this. We’ll figure it out.
Camp and Camera Sounds likely. I did sync to all four camera channels trying to set it up. Not sure how to clear cam 4 (which is black). Sent Haloview a question.
That is a very bulky back up camera. The one I had a few years ago was much smaller and didn’t block the state letters. I had the monitor plugged in all the time so it picked up baby monitors as I drove through residential areas too. I was surprised that the Gov assigned that frequency to all civilian wireless cameras.
i was drawn to this video as a possible means to help with blindside backing in a tractor trailer BUT i stopped soon in as i saw that the camera blocks the light from being seen in the back, may be ok for non commercial since they tend to let those get away with some unsafe things but anyway anyone looking at this for trucking DOT would just love that probably a $700.00 or more fine , i was just recently at a weigh station where the driver ahead of me got a $500.00 fine for snow on his trailer tail lights. maybe if they moved the cam to the top ?? it might be ok!.
Robert Baker If you mean my teardrop camper frame, it was Mastiff Trailer in Gainesboro, TN. They have a website with phone number. He’s a great guy to work with. If you’re asking about my travel trailer, it’s a Rockwood Mini-Lite 2304KS.

The side marker lights should have the cameras mounted on the top, not on the back. The camera is obscuring the view of the marker light which is possibly against regulations.
i eas getting tail gated all the time this winter around Quartzsite, Az by morons so i got a cheap walmart camera put it in the back window of my jeep, people would come flying up on at 10,20,30 mph over speed limit then tail gate at about 3 to 4 feet behind me till they noticed the camera and like magic they were back to 15,20 feet and i never hooked it up
The backup camera mount hides the word Tennessee on the plate. You might be surprised, that can be a fast $200 ticket in some states. Bad design, the mount should put everything up another inch higher.
How did you get that view on the monitor? Your backup camera on top and the two side cameras on the bottom. I have the MC5111 and i can't find that option.
thank you for your reply. i downloaded the 7108 manual and it has the same Qmode settings as mine. can you tell me which mode and which cameras you have paired to each cam? I want to try to get this to work on the mc5111. thanks again!!
Be advised that that back up camera may not be legal in your State because it covers up your States name. It is not legal in Texas. And not legal on the upper or lower side of the plate, because the lower half of the Texas plates have a bar code for the DPS readers. In fact, most frames around pates in Texas are not legal. Ask me how I know!
Why you put them on the front of the camper they are great for the rear that way you can see both sides as you are backing as well as the back up camera I think that's what they wanted you to use them for
Like for instance when I back mine into my yard I can't see the one fire hydrant even out of my back camera if I'm cutting in but that camera on the corner will let me see that all day
Like most license plate cameras on the market, Haloview centered the camera on the plate. That's great until you put a bike rack in the receiver, then the view is blocked. Doh! First company to make the camera able to move right or left on the mounting rail gets the business of everyone with a bike rack.
your license plate says 'emergency', i figure you're some kind of 1st responder... maybe a volunteer fire fighter ? also, covering any part of a license plate that is material to identification is a 'fix-it' ticket (correctable vehicle equipment violation) if pulled over...
This is a great retrofit idea, but the implementation by Haloview is poor. The camera housing is big and blocks the LED light view, it could potentially be illegal as a clearance light. I hope Haloview gets DOT approval before releasing it for sale as a clearance light replacement. The product should have the camera circuit in the BASE of the light, and the antenna should be flat and hug the wall of the RV, with two sided VHB tape. The camera should be much smaller, like a cellphone style sensor. Eventually this idea will redesigned into a very cool product by someone. I think the idea is good, it just needs to be refined into a more slick implementation. I wouldn't buy that kit, looks like a kludge IMHO. I'd wait for the real product to be released later.
It should be water proof some car washes spray under carriage when you drive through car wash. Your look for tail light trouble. I would never use blue splice in like is used in your taillights I can't tell you how many times I had to rewire taillights on trucks and trailers by people doing Wiring like I just saw.
I'm with you...old school perhaps but lineman's splice followed with solder and then the proper adhesive lined shrink tubing no matter what kind of pain in whatever body part that entails.
"They were KIND ENOUGH to send the cameras over." Hahaha.... ahem. It's called PAYOLA! It's quid pro quo! You're doing it for money or kickbacks. You and they are selling cameras together. Don't talk like a typical UA-cam con-man.
Of course you called Halo asking if they made a backup camera, hoping to get a freebie, well it worked well done, free loader.

I would never use blue splice in like is used in your taillights I can't tell you how many times I had to rewire taillights on trucks and trailers by people doing
Wiring like I just saw.
I'm with you...old school perhaps but lineman's splice followed with solder and then the proper adhesive lined shrink tubing no matter what kind of pain in whatever body part that entails.
@@metaxaanabeer Your right 100 present that how I repair wiring
I’m thinking that they wont last long. Horrible design. Today’s electronics are small and powerful these look pieced together
how fast you get brain canser with 3 wfi camera transmiters on your head all the time ? nice job but beter doit again with wire
This will save many marriages and a lot of foul language.
Lol! It certainly will!
Seems like it would be easy to steal the license plate backup camera.
I’d say it would be. Lots of sticky fingers around!
Without the monitor though it would be useless, but people possibly would try.
Whoever put that sealer on those marker lights did a sloppy job.
WHY, oh WHY, are there SCOTCHLOCK connectors on your truck lights???? Those worthless things ought to be illegal!!!!
problem is it WILL GET RIPED OFF BY THUGS
And what can the nut jobs do on UA-cam they can not do running down the road?
"They were KIND ENOUGH to send the cameras over." Hahaha.... ahem. It's called PAYOLA! It's quid pro quo! You're doing it for money or kickbacks. You and they are selling cameras together. Don't talk like a typical UA-cam con-man.
Nope. No commission, no money, no selling cameras together. I’m just making video content.
