In the military, i always preferred the top bunk. Top reason is because i could see EVERYTHING from up there. For anyone, who is always aware of their surroundings top bunk is a must. A little jump is nothing

top bunk - you do not have boogers, pubes, hair, dead skin etc. falling on you.
When i was in jail everyone wanted the bottom bunk. If someone new came in with a bottom bunk pass and the person who had that bottom bunk got bounced to a top bunk it always caused problems.
Totally. I'd always take the top bunk. Not only do you see everything but you're less vulnerable

You know i just stumbled across your channel, about 2 weeks ago and its really have helped me. So i figured id send this comment and i never ever commented on a youtube video ever. I actually only been home a little while i was in prison in new york for drugs and fight addiction also. I watched your first video and said dam this guy just did 7 years and now is actually really successful with youtube and everything else. This channel gives me hope i can turn my life into something positive as well. thank you after prison show.

Wish you the best in life Brian. Make sure to know that it's very easy to get back to being behind the bars. So you must make sure you don't risk absolutely anything. Especially bars, pubs, night clubs and unsafe neighbourhoods. Remember that you have a criminal history, and the law will target you as the bad guy , no matter what that the situation was. You stay low and away from your old lifestyle and old friends-in-crime, and in fact as few friends as possible, cherry-picking(not joes bff reference) only the positive ones, never staying with anyone who could put you in trouble , you're fine. Also alcohol or any drugs, even weed can get you in a situation you may not be able to control due to the consumption of the said stuff.

I spent some time in Portland OR MCSD and they kept the lights on and they wouldn't allow anything over your eyes (face). The bottom bunk stopped a lot of light.

Reasons why you would prefer top-bunk:
1) What if your cell-mate pisses himself in sleep?
2) What if your cell-mate just had something (either sick or drugged out) and starts puking?

Dropping food, papers, books, magazines, and I was always worried about someone pissing themselves. Did a bottom bunk for like a month of the five years I did and that was enough for me. Plus the air vent was above my bunk so would stay cold in the summer and warm in the winter. I had something fall in my fresh cup of coffee once and that did it. Made the girl on top bunk switch me.

Just watched an episode of lockdown, where a guy was attacked with a shank...he jumped up Into his top bunk, and they weren't able to stay him in any vital organs, they only got his legs, like nine times...but still, he survived no problem, cuz he was on the top bunk

In the joint I was in we had partitions, also known as cubicles or cubes. Having the bottom bunk gave you much, much, more privacy because you had walls on each side. On top you were exposed. The bottom bunk was so much better it isn't even close.

Feed prisoners properly and their BO and gas will be far less bad. And if you stop putting harmless bud smokers and shroomers in prison, you won't need so many bunks. Easy.

I've never been to jail where there wasn't ten or 15 people on the floor in the day room or cells some of them had boats but most were just a couple flattened out layers of cotton or whatever they call a matt layn on the floor

We had three guys in my cell during pre trial for the majority of the time. Luckily we all got along pretty well.

I have been on the top bunk. Im 5'2". Keeps you flexible. Jump on the chair and then to the windowsill. The bunk was another three feet above.

1. Bottom rack is easier to hang up towel to have more privacy and block light.
2. Hang your flat screen tv from the bottom of the top rack.
3. Easier to get in your locker to get food. Sit and chill easier.

This would never be a question I would have to ask. Can’t sleep high up. Had to get used to sleeping in a regular frame bed as an adult.
I recall years ago as part of my old job I had reason to visit with a staffer at a prison. I got a brief tour of the facility and I was surprised to see the guys were in a dorm manner. All in a large room. At least that is my memory.

I had some gas so bad one time my celly was banging on the door the whole night, it had the trustees walking up to the door trying to find out wtf was up and leaving like they had been slapt by death himself... It was that state food, and the guards told him tough shit 😁😆😅😂🤣😭... I mean that shit was some gangster shit particles

American prisons sound miserable next to some West European prisons. I live in Belgium and there is a prison in my city (Gent) and the prison is right in the city centre next to a park.

Then dont ever get into a prison here in South Africa. Prisons in South Africa are over populated as our country unfortunately has a very high crime rate. This is a beautiful country and I love my country but unfortunately a lot of crime and corruption everywhere. We as lawful citizens are so used to conduct our ways to avoid any possible crime coming our way.

I've never been to prison (my dad was though). But when I spent a week in jail, I was top bunk. I didn't mind. I got along well with everyone (it was a big room with lots of bunk beds). I snore like a hog though. I slept well too. I actually kinda enjoyed it.

When I was in the military I like the top bunk because that was the best reading light when you were trying to read when the lights were out
That's why I used to sleep with pens . this way if someone tried to throw a blanket over you you can tear it open.i have seen a lot of guys get fucked up that way.
