  • Morningstar Engineering has become well known for their midi controller. With different sizes, the MC series of controllers meet and satisfy whatever need you have. Enter the MC3, the smallest of the bunch, but by no means the least powerful. This tightly packed controller saves you space, and yet doesn't compromise functionality. It's amazing how much Morningstar was able to fit into this little beast!

Like I use an octave effect, auto wah, and tremelo all on the C4. You can probably get a chorus out of it too haha. I made a demo of it where I show the normal guitar sounds that I use from it

    This was an excellent demonstration of the MC3’s capabilities. I’ve been contemplating between a Morningstar or the RJM PBC, but the price difference is tremendous. Besides, I will only be using a fraction of the RJM’s capabilities. My only reservation about this MC3 is it won’t work with my non-midi pedals (mainly my overdrive pedals). Do you have any suggestions?

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  2 роки тому

      Thanks so much! And yes the MC3 is epic! Great size, price point, and capability. Regarding your overdrives, you can potential sell them to get midi friendly overdrives, which could be less overdrives than you currently have since you won’t need to stack them but use different presets for gain stages, or you can buy Morningstar’s ML5 switcher which is a looper that is run by midi, so you’d essentially be controlling your overdrive pedals via midi by turning them on and off, or saving specific overdrives on for specific presets on the MC3!

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! And yea you can totally do that. You can control it via midi, which is exactly what the MC3 can do! You can either have have each channel programmed for each switch, toggle between them in order, or even have two channels on a single switch (press, double press, long press) and two on the other and use the third switch as your favorite channel you can jump to anytime. Just gotta read the manual to see what midi message it needs

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  2 роки тому

      Hey! Yes! The D1 actually has different bypass options. In their manual they show how to do it, but I think you need it to be on the Blue DSP Bypass. Also the only setting that does the stereo ping pong thing is the Dual Delay setting, but with the mod tone and age knob you can make that sound digital, tape, or analog which is great!

    So the white switcher is a normal dumb switcher that changes banks on the MC3? What does the AE utility pedal do? That just to make plugging in your out cables easier?

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  11 місяців тому

      Hey! Yes the white switcher is just and aux switch banking up and down on the MC3. The Ae pedal is just a passive stereo sum to mono. So it’s not associated with the MC3

  • @johannmunoz_gtr
    @johannmunoz_gtr 2 роки тому

    Hello friend, I'm between this pedal and the MC6 (Since I saw in a video that the MC6 shows the tap tempo that you press) In this MC3 I do not see that the screen shows the tap pressed live, only the tap of the previously saved banks. Can you clarify my doubt? I thank you, I am also a worship guitarist.

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  2 роки тому

      Hey! So whenever it shows a Tap Switch, it is because it is programmed onto that switch, even on the MC6, you’d have to program the specific switch to be a tap function on each bank. On the other banks I didn’t need tap tempo because it was songs with set BPMs and click. I only program the tap if I know I’m playing a set where there isn’t a click or I know they might change the BPM. So if you want, you can always copy and paste the Tap Function onto each bank on the same switch, both on the MC3 and the MC6 👌🏽

    • @nobesmusic
      @nobesmusic  2 роки тому

      Hey man! I’m not familiar with that model, but if it has midi, it should definitely work! If it’s 5 pin you would send it from the MC3 into one amp and hopefully that amp would have a Thru to send to the other. You’d just have to make sure both amps were set to different midi channels and look at their manuals to see what message you need to send to change amp channels 👌🏽

      Hey! You would need something like a 1/4 TRS with a 3.5mm to go into the MC3 or you’d need a 3.5mm TRS with 1/4” adapter go into the gt1000. I know Caulfield Cables actually make 3.5 into 1/4” though. And Morningstar has some great options online to with adapters

    • @sonicmistress
      @sonicmistress Рік тому +1

      Just FYI: In case you didn't know, even 5 Pin Midi Cables only have 3 wires connected so any 3.5mm Cable will work as long as the wiring meets the Gears midi preference, TypeA//B - Same applies to 1/4" (As some pedals use 1/4" for Midi - You can make your own 3.5>1/4 Cable)

      Yes! You can send that midi information to as many pedals as you want. You can either send tap tempo, where in the live mode you can see the bpm, and then also midi clock, where you can’t see because it’s already been programmed so you would have already known it. It’s great!

      @@holmanconde so for pedals that are 5 pin midi, they have to be daisy chain via midi. The only isolated ones are by TRS, so you can have 4 of those with the MC3. Even though the 5pin midi is daisy chained, they still function individually. They need to have their own channels. Each pedal should have instructions on how to assign the channel to a different number 👌🏽
