My wife NEVER drinks, due to health reasons. So why should she have to pay more for her cars for something that should be reserved for those convicted of DUI (or whatever your state calls it). On the other hand, after 40 years of being a nuclear engineer, and subject to random drug and alcohol testing, then unfairly being put out to pasture, I ALWAYS drink. Like in that George thoroughgood song. So would my breath set off the alarm? As usual, they have not thought this through. Let the little people and the courts sort it out, I guess, considering the spineless wienies in Congress. Don't worry; I had to sell my car, thanks to "Bidenomics", and being fired for being disabled.
Insurance companies won’t lower rates for this. Possibly a violation of the 5th Amendment. If you want to stop drunk drivers quit giving them a second third and fourth chance. First offense automatic one year suspended license and minimum $10k fine. Second offense suspended license for life minimum sentence of 10 years and $50k fine.
Suspended license doesn't prevent anyone from driving!! It's just saying you're not supposed to drive...doesn't work. So many accidents everyday caused by suspended drivers. You could always hold the bars, waiters and waitresses accountable...they know when people are drunk, but they don't care...they're trying to make the money. I don't know if there's an actual soloution
I'd like to go one better, we have the three strike law, first conviction year suspension 1k fine plus 10points (about 5k) second about same third life time ban. I'd like to see car wrecks treated the same third crash here's a bus pass.
I’m not proud of this, but surely this won’t work I had a breathalyzer for having two DUIs and every month you have to get it calibrated to make sure it’s in proper working order. This will mean if every car has to get one you’re going to have to take it to your local dealer to get it calibrated. A calibration cost me about 70-80$ a month. If you don’t get it calibrated you would get a fine and a calibration keeps the machine up to date making sure it’s reading properly. I’m 100000% sure this won’t be put into every car. I don’t drink anymore so I personally don’t have anything to worry about, but still this is ridiculous.
Too many factors will cause a false positive with a breathalyzer. Plus insurance rates will increase to cover the cost of this new expensive accessory. Ultimately, it’s a constitutional issue as well.
Cant touch electronics while driving and ok to install big touch pad on the dash and blue tooth talking legal . Coming soon will be VR air touch all applications .
Insurance and safety items themselves lead to more accidents and fatalities. If you have insurance to cover your worthless ass, you can jump in your safe vehicle and pin your ears back and go like a crazy man. If you didn't have these protections and had to suffer the conciquences you would have way more caution. If you have to pay out of your own pocket, your attitude might change.

All I know if they put this bullshit in any car, I will never own it or buy it or drive it, and I never drink and drive. So you're going to have to blow every single time you want to start your car. This is insanity.
it is NOT a "rule" or even a Law yet. you are seriously jumping the gun here. they are only just starting to talk about this. it has not been even been put into ANY bills or presented to any form of government yet. Thumbs down on the video because of your inability to report accurate information.
I can see how people might feel this is over stepping a bit, BUT, personally this should only upset you if you drink and drive...I don't drink so no worries. Wouldn't it be great to never have to encounter a drunk driver? Why do you want drunks on the road that can harm or kill your family and friends...you sound like idiots...y'all are lucky I'm not in charge...I would also make it so NO car can travel over 80mph...There is no need for our vehicles to travel faster!!!
Why stop there? How about we connect every car to a government database so you can input your driving route before you leave. If the government denies your travel request then the car will not operate.

Not an issue. Americans don't have to tolerate this. Starting in 2026 don't buy new cars.

My fear is they would run while drunk, or run while they think they're drunk and cause accidents.

Maybe cops should setup their sobriety checkpoints right outside places of "night life" bars, clubs, taverns etc.

that's an invasion of privacy
Not in my car. Not because I drink and drive, but this is too far.
My fleet vehicles, yes.
My vehicles, fuck no.
We will find a way to disable.

It’s my constitutional right to go on a booze cruise without totalitarian government control 🤬🤬🤬
Start with congress first.
Then insurance will charge you DUI premium if you don't retrofit your older vehicle 💀
If I can drive without a airbag and my tires low on air I’m sure their is a way to not use that system as well
Is it gonna kill my car in the middle of an 8-lane highway? How dangerous is that?
snorkel manufacturers will rejoice at the boon in sales.
I thought only congress could mandate new laws
The the more logical solution would be to make the penalty's stiffer for DUI offenses along with other crimes like murder.
Just ban alcohol instead...
Lol yeah cus that worked the first time.
So i have to pay because of other people's stupid choices
How about not using your phone while driving
How about not talking to the passengers either?
