I grew up having it without eggs at home. However, my grandma made it with eggs and grated carrots with the bread crumbs on top. So, this is a combo of both my mom and my grandmother's take on a mac pie 🙂
nice , I was just searching youtube for a simple recipe for my daughter's school friend to try for himself at home. He saw that she baked bread on her own and now wants to try cooking himself. He loves macaroni pie so he should enjoy making this with his mum.
I tell u l was making it d wrong way think I m gonna try ur way of making it looks so nice n creamy we here in Vinci usually put eggs in ours thank u fr sharing
I so missed your voice in this one Reshmi! I usually mix everything in the milk and add to the dish. I have to try your method. Keep sharing. We ❤ you!!!!
I loveeeee that le creuset baking dish! Let me know if you know of any stores that have them on sale :) sometimes I see it at Marshall’s but ppl grab them up fast lol
Your the best I've been watching your channel for years now. I was wondering if you could create a vegan version of this recipe? If you ever have time that is 🙂
Hey..so I haven't watched the video yet damm phone is ready for its grave.... I know it'll be a great vid as usual Strangely enough, we as Trinis or West Indians call this macaroni pie the Canadians and Americans will say Mac and cheese... Some of them surely gonna look at us like we're crazy for ordering aloo pie 😂😂😂😂 Same thing different countries and cultures different names
Oh no, hope it gets fixed. Yes that is true. However, I make my macaroni pie less cheesy than the typical mac n cheese. Also, mac n cheese is more wet and creamy 🙂 Haha yeah true.
When i see someone cooking and they use Onion Powder and then Garlic Powder, i start wondering if they are from the Caribbean. That, Mac Pie had got some damn good finger licking flavor. However, first time i'm ever seeing Scotch Bonnet Powder ever. Now i have to go find some somewhere on the internet! Update: Found Scotch Bonnet Powder on Amazon. Regardless, I think i'll be making and adapted version of this Mac today with some Pork Chops. Maybe next time, I'll bake it.
@@@TasteofTrini I made this Mac Pie yesterday and in my own le Creuset Medium dish for dinner as an adapted recipe just eyeing the ingredients. Some i didn't have so it was ok. Just used a bunch of various cheeses I had on hand. It all turned out ok. What I also added for my secret ingredient was just a little bit and way less than the cheese of Peruvian Crema de Aji (yellow) and Crema de Rocoto (Red) both are very creamy chili sauce. Why, because I had it in my refrigerator and the package already opened though its capped. Though i'm caribbean i do often cook with Peruvian peppers having visited there three in last few years. Anyway, I made the dish and it was great regardless with my Panko topping. So another variation you can make to this dish as a suggestion is (1) Many the Cheeses as suggested before. (2) using Peruvian Aji Crema (several variety due to pepper flavors) or a combo mixing of Cheeses and Aji Crema. An adaptation is always using the best of a dish or classic and making some slight variation for variety and you can get variations with these and others i'm sure. I just injected what i've learned and picked up visiting another country in South America into this great dish.
That's just how I like it. Of course it's optional. This recipe is just a guide. You can omit and add ingredients if you want, that's the beauty of cooking.
@@TasteofTrini Just like the ketchup, you could have omitted the sarcasm! Try being a little more health conscious...you don't look as though you like what you cook that much. If you don't like the heat, you should stay out of the UA-cam kitchen! UA-cam kitchen
?? I was not being sarcastic. I tell that to everyone. No two recipes are the same and everyone cooks differently. People cook according to their preference and taste. Have a lovely evening.

Looks yummy hun😍

Ketchup in macaroni pie? If you omit this, I'm sure the dish would taste just as delicious. Trust this Trinbagonian!
