Yes Dwayne, like I said, overwhelming. I’m researching more of the history of the Herreshoff manufacturing Co. In particular the development of and legacy of the America’s Cup defenders
Not only were you dancing the camera around, I had to double the volume on my PC so I could hear your awestruck, hushed voice, lol. A truly amazing collection of beautifully designed and made boats. I am a big fan of clinker dinghies and there were plenty of them too. It was a shame the Mystic show was cut short, but you can't stand up against nature.
I am sorry about the volume at the Herreshoff Museum. I felt like I was in a library or a church, like somehow the place deserved my reverence and I didn't even realize that I had spoken so lightly until I edited the video. It is a special place
@@JenkinsBoatWorks I know exactly what you mean and it came across in the vid; it is a special place and deserved that respect. No apology necessary Chuck.
I'm presently undertaking a minimum 5 year total rebuild of a Herreshoff Marco Polo that has had a very hard life since it was launched. The Mystic Museum is assisting us by supplying at cost copies of the original drawings. The vessel has been carefully dismantled down to it basic components which will be used as a base template. It's a slow but satisfying project. We have almost finished lofting the hull. Then it's on to making the templates for the backbone and keel. The original keel is going to be recast due to issues with the original.
Very interesting Robert. I have to confess that I hadn't heard of the Marco Polo. I just googled. my oh my! Are you videoing or doing other blog on this? would love to see pictures or more. thanks, Chuck
A Paradise... Thank you for these impressions !
Highly interesting. Well done!
yes, if you ever have the chance to go to the museum, it is a treat. it is like there is so much cool stuff that you can't see it all
Pretty dang cool. You were right about there being a lot of nice boats. Very impressive.
