A video about Herreshoff One Design Jubilee Celebration at NYYC Harbor Court in 2021. Video produced by New York Yacht Club. Featuring interviews with HMM founder, Halsey C. Herreshoff, Curator, Evelyn Ansel, and more.
As part of the celebration of the Herreshoff Marine Museum’s 50th anniversary, we held a celebration of the NYYC Herreshoff one-designs at NYYC Harbour Court in Newport with the NY30 AMORITA, the NY40 MARILEE and the NY50 SPARTAN. Our good friend Gary Jobson created a video to commemorate both the event and the legacy of these amazing yachts with footage from an incredible day of sailing on Narragansett Bay.

They give us all, no matter where in the world we are, enormous pride and appreciation of pure beauty that will always continue. Regards from NZ.
I just wish they would pronounce it the way I’ve always heard it done right or wrong. Harasof sounds funny.
Heb een keer een houten boot zien vergaan😢
Maar normaal gesproken gaat een houten boot langer mee dan polyester of staal 🎉
Most interesting story, thank you. But terrible and unnecessary music!
It is my good fortune to be the custodian of a 60 year old Herreshoff 28 which fills me with joy and wonder every time it sails. She can be a handful to maintain but her inherent strength and grace is ample reward.
A number of years back I paid MIT the fee to build a single NY 30 model boat. Being someone who used Autocad the design buildings, I got a copy of the table of offsets and plotted the out. Fair them and had them lazier cut along with her profile. I glued it all together, planked her with balsa and covered her with two layers of fiber glass. I sent to sail plans to a manufacture and had him put NY 9 on them. Furthermore, I perched some bronze hardware I found online, gooseneck, cleats, and turnbuckles. I purchased wood blocks so that the sails could be raised and lowered. Added sail and steering controls a long with a two channel remote control. She has tan decks, white hull and green bottom. I've not sailed her in a number of years, but after seeing video, I need to get her back in the water as just as the real NY 30s she is a dream to sail.
Do you get more drawings if you pay a fee? there are already a lot of drawings on the website.
I always wonder, how fast these boats are? I mean everyone tell they are incredibly fast, but. For example 30 in 20 knots true and flat water. 8? 9?
It’s videos like these that helped persuade me to buy a small wooden sailboat. Designed by Paul Gartside - see it at ua-cam.com/video/3XNgZrok3fQ/v-deo.html
Absolutely, nothing stolen from William Fifer 3rd!!!
