I completed this 4/14/19 using this video and the throttle body from 1A(cheapest on the market). It took me an hour, including the idle relearning. Worked great, check engine light went out, and I saved $700 dealer cost to repair/replace. Thanks very much 1A!!!!!!!

Cleaned the throttle body for the first time for my sierra after 12 yrs and 135k miles. The backside of the body was very dirty with oil. Took care not to disturb the throttle plate; cleaned the gap just by the jet of spray cleaner. Starting the engine and no issue on rpm from the start. Seems the engjne response improved.
i did your throttle body relearn procedure, right down to driving it over 40 miles an hour, it worked for a day; Now, i'm back to an erratic idle, and the check engine light in now on ( 2007.5 GMC Sierra)
There could be an issue with the pedal position sensor. Maybe check that if you haven’t figured out the problem by now. I hope you figured it out though it’s been at least 4 months!
Thank you VERY MUCH!!!!!! Your video was very easy to follow, you saved me so much money by doing this myself. i followed your direction to the tee on how to re learn the idle, but i failed.... i tried it 4 times.....I gave up..... so i took my car to my mechanic shop for him the re calibrate the idle, he used his expansive computer to re calibrate and re set them....15 minutes and $60 later everything is perfect!!!!!!! Thank you again

When my tahoe 2012 threttle cleaned. it goes to 3000 RPM for long time. I disconnect the battery for 24 hours. Then I connect it back and did what he said. it works great. It may work if you disconnect the battery for less hours but this is what I have done.
Just cleaned throttle body, and it’s idling just fine where it should be My question is why would my rpms being going up as I’m braking? Brake booster/vacuum leak? Or could the braking issue be related to the throttle body? Thanks
Where can I get another rubber ring thing that attaches from the snorkel to the throttle body and held on by the worm clamp? Mine is all warped so its not sealed on there the way it's suppose to be. thanks.
i replaced the sensor. not the throttle body. cranked it and its reved at 3000rpm and wont decelerate. any suggestions cause im bout done with this truck. its a 2011 tahoe
The relearn procedure in this video did NOT work. RPM's stayed at 3000 no matter what...3min/1min/3min process, clearing codes, disconnecting the battery, nothing. Mine was a 2008 and the video states 2009-2013...maybe that's it, I don't know. But the point I want to get out to you DIY'ers is that you do NOT have to spend thousands on a high end scan tool to do the Idle Relearn. I was about to tow mine to a shop before I found out the Harbor Freight $300 Zurich ZR15 code reader is bi-directional and it WILL do an Idle Relearn. Saved my day and maybe yours too.
What if it doesn’t reset after the three min idle, one min off, and three min idle? My 11 Chevy Tahoe idles at about 600rpm but if I lightly press the gas it goes up to 2500rpm and won’t drop after I let go of the gas. I have to shift gears to P or D or turn it off.
Will this same procedure work for a 2010 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L? She just started idling extremely rough and no stabilitrack/traction control messages came on as well reduced engine power and the engine light... going to have the code read tomorrow first thing if it’ll let me drive to the parts store and if it’s the throttle body I’m hoping everything performed here will work for me as well. Thanks
@@thebigv8644 Same issue on a 2010 GMC Sierra, pulled codes P2135 and C0242, both point to throttle body. Going to replace mine, and recommend you do the same. This issue is common with our model year range of GM vehicles.
TheBig V8 sorry for the late reply, I hope you’ve got your vehicle running correctly by now. But yes replacing the throttle body worked for me. When I had the codes read it came up with something to do with the throttle body as well as the throttle position sensor? I think that’s what it was called. They said I would have to go to a shop that had a computer that was capable of differentiating between the two codes because it could be either one. I went ahead and just replaced the throttle body and didn’t deal with the throttle position sensor and she’s been running just fine ever since 👍🏼. If you have any questions or if I didn’t cover something don’t hesitate to ask! I’ll do my best to answer whatever as accurately as I can. Oh and btw that idle relearn procedure at the end is bullshit in my opinion. Unless I did do something right it definitely did not work for me. I’d recommend just going to your local dealership or mechanic that has the right equipment relearn the idle. I’d go with a mechanic. My dealership wanted to charge me I think $300? For the relearn. It could’ve been less but still a ridiculous price for what had to be done. On the other hand my mechanic went ahead and did it for free. Now I also had an engine mount replaced at the same time but I’m almost certain the mechanic would’ve been cheaper either way.
I changed my Throttle body on my 2010 Silverado and fallowed all the steps 2 days ago and my rpms are still on3k. On park. Any advice on what else to do?
+Abel Garcia At this time we are unable to diagnose the issue you may be having as we are not able to look at the car in person. We would suggest taking your vehicle to a local mechanic for further assistance.
So I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado clean the throttlebody. Turn the vehicle on I did not get any high idle ,waited three minutes, off for 60 seconds back on for three minutes still no high idle until I put a little gas then got a high idle. No check engine light just a high rpm. What should I do?
+Joseph Bautista We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

Hello I did everything as you said but my truck is stuck at 3400 rpm idle. I let it go 3 minutes then 1 minute off then 3 minutes still stuck on 3400 rpms. I drove it 20 miles at over 44 with slow and speed up no help. Put on new MAF and Mass air sensors no help. Was running fine just got a code that throttle position sensor was bad so I put on a new one and now I need help. Also put on a used complete throttle body from my son and it also idles at 3400 rpm Thanks
You made a comment if it continues to clear the code? Can I clear by disconnecting the battery or do I have to get my truck connected to a communicator?
It should clear on it's own over time, but you can plug in a scanner into the OBD ll port and clear the code manually with the scanner. Diagnostic scanners are relatively cheap to purchase and easy to use.
I changed my throttle body. Pretty easily. It idled correctly after the second 3 minutes of running the truck but when I test drove it the idle would go up as I was coming to a stop. What would cause that? Thanks.

I have a 2013 Escalade. It would do the same thing when coming to a stop. So much to where the truck would shift hard between 1st and 2nd. This started happening after I cleaned my throttle bottle. This problem was fixed by connecting a Bi-directional/active test scanner and performing an idle and throttle relearn.
I cleaned my throttle body and rpms are stuck at 3000. I put it in drive and they come down but as soon as it’s back in park they shoot to 3000 and stay there. Any advice?
Didn't work for me, I unplugged the battery for 24 hrs, then plugged it back in, did the procedure and drove it, when I first started it after plugging the battery in it worked normal, the rpms started to drop down to normal... After the test drive it seemed to drive normal but when I parked as soon as I put it in park the rpms ran right up to 3000... Don't know what is going on maybe I just need a new throttle body itself, all I did was clean it
Messed up my 2012 had to bring into shop to be hooked up to scanner to be reset. As soon as I touched the gas it’s go up to 3000 rpms and wouldn’t go down. Cheap fix $40 and 10 minutes and I was back on the road
