i don’t think it is sadly, in the sheet music (i bought the official one!) it keeps the same lyric
@Blue Cocoa Sometimes official sheet books have old lyrics or ones used in some scenarios but not others. Her pronunciation is pretty clear and it definitely sounds like the lyrics changed in the cast recording.

the most tragic thing about constances character is that she only realized all of these things about how nice life is *after* she died
It was actually right before she died, on the rollercoaster, which is still tragic. It might actually be more sad to me because she was still alive but was about to lose the chance to embrace her small town.
I admit if it wasn’t for Jane/Penny, I wouldn’t picked Constance as a second choice for who got revived

As much as I love Noel's Lament and The Ballad of Jane Doe, this song deserves the same, if not more, appreciation than them. The monologue Constance gives before this number also really hits hard.
Literally this song is also so good. My personal favourite from the musical. Second part especially
And Constance's monologue is so strong
the saddest part is the fact that if the rollercoaster didnt crash then constance would have gone off the ride enjoying life with her new perspective :(
i think you mean if she had survived the crash/fall- she realized all these things while falling through the air after the cart malfunctioned
@@autismcreatureirl nope! i meant that she learned to appreciate life more because of her adrenaline from the rollercoaster hence why the cyclone is her favorite ride. another thing that hints at that is the fact that she sings about ups and downs and being up on a cloud which is what she felt when she was riding the rollercoaster. you could take that as her falling but that would be more of a direct fall than ups and downs.
also! In the ending when it gets sadder she sings ¨and everythings clear¨ suggesting that she realises her demise and how life could have been different.

after hearing her monologue as creepy as it i wouldn't be surprised if constance died with a smile on her face which is weird but it kinda just popped into my head

As someone who has previously attempted suicide, I think this song hit the hardest for me out of the whole musical.

This song hits harder when you have the context behind it. It just doesn’t feel the same when you don’t hear her monologue beforehand.
constance is so precious to me, she reminds me a lot of myself at that age and as an adult now i feel...idk, protective over her? she's such a sweet character and her song is amazing and such a pivotal moment for her in the show...this just gets me emotional af, even the goofy recorder solo. i'm just so proud of her 💕
