    The lead elbow comes close to the body which promotes the lead wrist extension... have not seen that angle before. Thx!

    Another great video. Thank you for your analysis. I need to hyperextend my trail wrist to get that whipping throwing release by Couples as the butt of the handle was directed to the ball. If i don't hold on with the trail index finger to close the club face after impact my ball has too much fade.

    Another brilliant video and love the fact that you follow up with facts showing swings from Pro's. Albeit there is several parts in the golf swing that is important this video again showed that the angle of the shoulders must be smaller than the angle of shoulders are in the back swing. For me then one of the most important aspects is the feeling that the right shoulder drops straight down which will assist in swinging the club more or less on the correct plane. In my opinion so many other instructual videos about doing other things to try and accomplish this whislt just one simple feel and move.

    Great video, can't believe you didn't throw Vijay's hand action in there too...
    What's interesting, is even though Freddie and Vijay never tried to hold it off and just whipped through with their hands; they both play a natural fade.
    Great analysis mate 👍🏻

    Couples doesn't need to bow his lead wrist like what is all the rage these days. Also both Rory and Freddie tee the ball lower than one would think and slightly farther back in their stance. Strong grips too. Thanks for this. Very helpful.

    Yes, took this out to the course this afternoon. The distinctive roll of the hands really does work. Didn’t hit a single weak fade. More than a few long hooks, but at least I know I’m on the right track.
    I’ve heard Fred a few times say when he gets into the hitting zone he rips it as hard as he can (it may not look it) but never really understood what he meant.
    This clarifies so many things. Thanks for posting.

    I'd really like to see how much Freddie's hand action changes if he buttons the drive. This video looks like he may have slightly missed the center and it jarred his hands a small amount at impact (which looks like a crazy amount in super slow mo).

    Hi Craig, have you ever seen the Peter Kostis' slow motion analysis( I think it was the CBS Minolta moment he used to do) of Koepka's driver swing during his last PGA major win. Peter said he was using brand new version of software to analyze swing speed. He showed that Koepka actually lost about 5mph swing speed in his downswing from the time his left arm stopped to the time he made contact with the ball. In other words, during the unloading of the wrist cock is where he lost 5 mph. I tried to find this video but no luck.
    Have you ever watched Mike Austin's skeleton video(it's old, I think from the 70's) where Mike says to never hold onto wrist cock because you lose too much speed and it becomes all timing. He says and shows that you need to release from the top. Hard to argue with a guy or guys which included Mike Dunaway, who were hitting 350+ yds back in the 80's like it was nothing with obviously equipment of the day(which was the Callaway BB when it first came out, which Mike D apparently had a hand in designing). Hell, Mike Austin was hitting it well over 300+ when he was in his 70's.
    Just curious what your comments are to these points. Great channel, thanks.

    With respect, teachers of the swing, and for that matter golf commentators have ruined golf development by using this word “lag”…I can tell you unequivocally that not one of those swings is looking to hold the wrists trying to create lag. Every pro golfer is trying to throw the club as fast as humanly possible from the top! Just ask the Golden Bear….he described the feel at the top as releasing the wrists at the top of the swing. He, like all great players, link this move with pivot and turn. When the sequence is performed together, you get the look of lag, but really it’s the attempt to flip, throw from the top, that turbo charges the head. When the proper grip, turn, and shift are employed with the throw, flip (whatever you want to call it) the result is square club face, shallow shaft, and so called lag!! I had this epiphany a few years ago, and saved my back, and improved my game so much, I’m having a blast.

    Fred couples golf swing is not something to celebrate...years of ingraining bad habits. If he learned how to hit a high draw he would have been the longest player of all time and never would have back problems...

    • @CraigHansonGolf
      @CraigHansonGolf  2 роки тому

      To hit a a high draw you have bow your back more putting more pressure on the spine???
      Why do million’s talk about his swing being unbelievable nick?
