    Great visuals to help describe what the wrists should actually be doing through the strike. I play to a 9 and I’m sure I do this wrong by holding off that fluid release you have. I’m subconsciously trying to control the club face when I should really be letting it go. It’s easy to see your method would create much more effortless power. I definitely need to work on that. Another great video! We all need a coach like you. Thank you!!

    Great video I've been searching for a good explanation of this release since seeing that David duval video years ago. I love the drills you've explained to get the feel. There is still one piece I'm unsure about. Did you use some pronation of the trail forearm in your takeaway with the lots of extension of the wrist? Is the purpose of the pronation to stop the need for the roll of the forearms in the release and just have extension to flexion as the dominant factor?

    Yes, Yes, Yes! I just discovered how important wrist action is to hitting solid shots. For 30 years, at the top of my swing, the back of my left hand was facing me rather than away from me. I always thought this was perfectly normal. Last week I learned that this is incorrect by dissecting Tigers swing. My focus has always been on things like my takeaway, lower body initiation into the downswing, left arm straight, etc, etc. And those are things i looked for when watching the pros swing. But then I came across a vid that showed Tiger's swing from behind. The coach pointed out Tiger's hand position near the top of his swing. The back of his left hand wasn't facing him, to the contrary, it was facing away from him! When you do this, you cannot avoid bend your right wrist back.
    Righties - Put out your right hand, palm away from you like your are signing for someone to stop. Now pull the tops of your fingers on your right hand back with your left hand. THAT'S the feeling. Now maintain that position and bring your right hand back like you are swinging a club. Now bring your left hand up to your right as if you were holding a club. There ya go! That's how it should feel at the top of your swing.
    This past Friday, it was the 1st time i tried this. It felt okay on the range. Now I'm not a great golfer, about a 14. Getting used to it on the course took a bit. I shot a triple bogey on hole 1`. A double bogie on hole 2. And then, for the next 16 holes, just 6 over! 3 birdies! And i wasn't even putting that well. (Aside from the 3 birdies). But i missed a number 5-7 footers. Wound up with an 83. I've never broken 80. But now with this wrist fix, I know it's coming. And soon! (because i live in Florida, lol) Thanks for confirming what i recently learned Craig! Great video.

    great idea for a video, to show how the alignment of the rt elbow/arm extension builds speed into the wrist release, and how the angles of the arm/elbow and wrist need to be in synch, but respectfully the video looses its most of its impact bc you are to focused on how the finish looks as a professional which is something most amatures should not even try to emulate. it be much more impactful to show amatures precisely how the rt arm/elbow straightens when properly setup and flows perfectly into the wrist release building speed from arm/elbow into wrists release. for this to be more impactful amatures need to understand the chain of events and how to properly set themselves up so this powerful chain of events are able to take place , proper setup w/ grip and arm positioning is what is needed here imho. success always! Great stuff Craig, do you feel the release after impact or just before? To me feels like it should “feel” like it is after otherwise you end up scooping?

    • @CraigHansonGolf
      @CraigHansonGolf  2 місяці тому +1

      Tiger Woods was the first person i heard speak about this .. you can hit it low with the logo pointing up but you hold the angle longer in the trail wrist .. you hit it higher but letting the angle go with the logo pointing up ….
      You release it past the ball .. 99.9 percent of amateurs flip it anyway.. Because they have a poor understanding of the hands and releass… store up the energy and release it past the ball.

    I always love your lessons. At 5:38 you mention Freddie flips his right wrist just past impact however I've seen him practice with a 3 wood and at impact he completely takes his right hand off the club! (and still hits it over 250 yards)! What am I missing? See 1 minute and 5 seconds here: ua-cam.com/video/ikvR2xILi2U/v-deo.html
    And Bryson's slow motion swing past impact has even less right hand flipping so now I'm confused. ua-cam.com/video/PpqFlmd2_hA/v-deo.html

      Bryson has a super weak grip and has a big rolling release. .. which amateurs will never learn …
      Fred has 3-4 knuckle grip with heaps of lag and that’s his way of releasing the club past the body .. like VJ singh .. some players do this when they have heaps of Lag .. Ben Hogan actually mentioned this as well

    But every time I try to do that, I hit the ground before the ball. I'd need an explanation as to why if it's actually effortless amateurs don't do it. In other words, what prevents amateurs from doing it that way. What conditions must be met in the body movement to make this kind of launch possible. That is to say, so that the amateur, by continually hitting the ground in front of the ball, does not rather discourage this kind of release.

      reverse engineering has helped millions of golfers around the world Tiger Woods has spoken about this Bryson DeChambeau …you don’t hit a golf ball with a hammer. The game is very very difficult for most people out there and this movement this reverse engineering has proven to help so many people I appreciate your opinion and everyone’s allowed to have one, but that doesn’t mean it’s right.

    • @cdunne1620
      @cdunne1620 Місяць тому

      ..well you see the combination of the club head weight and centrifugal forces causes a delay effect in muscle activation originating in a thought in the golfer’s brain.
      It’s like in an old diesel car when you press the accelerator and nothing happens for a second or two, there is a lag between the signal and the effect

    • @randolphsnyder1505
      @randolphsnyder1505 Місяць тому

      @cdunne1620
      In terms of sequence it goes like this I think.
      Brain signals body 1st,
      Body swings club 2nd ,
      Body sensory system detects forces caused by centrifugal motion 3rd,Body attempts to time application of force by timing strike with the signal our brain receives from our body parts that are attached to the club.
      The accelerator analogy does not apply because it depends on a individuals perception of time and will vary depending on a person's ability to interpret them,a deaf person cannot detect the lag in dsl acceleration as well as a person with good hearing.
      Most golf instructors teach strike timing which happens when the ball flies like a rocket and you feel nothing at the strike and it is a truly wonderful experience.

    • @cdunne1620
      @cdunne1620 Місяць тому

      @@randolphsnyder1505.. No I think you have missed my point. The swing is too fast for our senses to monitor in real time so in order to maximise speed at impact we have to have an intention/thought of maximising speed well after the ball. Everything matches up then in an optimal way. This effect has been known for a long long time. Mr Hogan mentioned it in his book. I’ve heard about it many many times from different sources. I’m not wasting any more time with you mate 👍

    • @randolphsnyder1505
      @randolphsnyder1505 Місяць тому

      I knew eventually you would get to the swinger vs hitter,you are teaching swinging the club which requires no timing of the strike and it works for a lot of golfers.Hitters like Arnold had incredible timing and that worked quite well for him.
      I never thought of a discussion as a waste of time unless one party was unwilling listen or so egotistical that there was no way except their way.
