Great times in the gl wagon! When the oil pan is flattened into a 45 degree skid plate and so many J hook burnouts! And it kept on kicking. Never a mechanical failure!
How much fabrication work did you need to do to get the motor and box into the Impreza? Did the ez30 motor mounts line up with the previous existing ones?
Thomas Paroz everything mounting wise is the same as the factory ej engine, the pedals as they are drive by wire required some mounting, and some custom mounting for the radiator as the engine sits much further in the engine bay.
It's pretty straight forward mechanically. The difficult part is the electrical. Made easier with a Link ExtremeX ECU. If you decide to do an EZ30R swap we can supply the ECU with a base map.
The "Freedom Road" heading into Bella Coola is no joke. Glad your brother made out ok after his crash.

Im thinking of doing this for a wrx. Is it a reliable engine? Was it really hard to swap it in?
yes it is reliable. My EZ30 is at 291xxkms and still strong
Do you have or know of a build log for this? Looking for more info on the EZ30R swap process. Thanks
A build log? We did build it what are you interested in?
