    I found your channel around 4 days ago and I’ve extremely resonated with each video I’ve seen so far which has been quite a few. Very grateful for your wisdom and to be at a place where I can hear this sort of stuff and not take it personally or be offended by it, as it is all true. Thank you 🙏

    Great video. I wish more people worked on their self awareness and emotional intelligence to understand this. My biggest problem in creating healthy relationships (im a woman) is that when I try to sympathize with men, it feels like i am often enabling their victim mentally or encouraging other unhealthy behaviour and i become their therapist instead of partner. And then, because of their issues and lack of empathy, I can't really have any kind of relationship to them. When I am far away emotionally Im seen as an object, when I get too close I start filling the role of a therapist/mother... and in none of these circumstances the relationships work. I guess some people are just not ready for a 'real' relationship/connection and i just need to let them go instead of trying to change them.

    I really like what you had to share, thought provoking for sure and although not everything has to be definitely agreed upon, congrats to you for the deep dive and thoughtfulness and sharing that process of questioning with others, I wish more individuals would so we can all come together in our shared humanity.

    If people only want resources and status and physical beauty and youthfulness then doesn't that mean that those things don't really point to any thing, aren't then the most important traits the ones that can resist the desire to have it

    • @lucas_segeren
      @lucas_segeren  Місяць тому

      I never said people only want status, resources, etc. because people don't want only that.
      There's nothing wrong with having those things. There isn't a point in resisting them, but it's a matter of allowing what is healthy into your life. There's nothing inherently dysfunctional about resources, status etc.
      The most "important" qualities will be relative to what is valuable to you. Yes, impulse control is important, but you can also allow money, beauty etc. into your life and let it go when it's time.

    Im in a psychoanalytic therapy since years. Its deep. Its often about the early realtionships which formed my belives about my relationships today. Its hard work. But its so importend for me. Im selfish in talking aboutmyself in therapy....and my relationships to be less selfish and love more ❤ maybe this is a way

      You don't need to judge yourself for self-absorption or selfishness. You're not to be shamed or 'bad'. It's just a part of human nature. The higher aspects of our nature allow us to transcend it and include it, but many don't make it that far.
      You're very courageous for looking into things like that. Most people avoid it their entire lives, which has tremendous amounts of negative consequences.

    There's nothing sick or immoral about human behavior. We don't think of dogs, or birds, or snakes are sick or immoral. For some reason we believe people are better than animals, as if we are made in the image of God and are inherently divine. But this is just our ego telling us we are special. Instead of being ashamed of our kinship with the rest of the lifeforms on our planet, we should embrace it. I love my dog and I'm proud we are related. But when I act like a dog I am ashamed, and when others act like dogs I get angry. This makes no sense. Instead, we should predict such behavior and learn from it, if possible, without judgement. Unfortunately, judgement is also part of our nature.

    • @lucas_segeren
      @lucas_segeren  Місяць тому

      Our behaviors can lead to sickness, dysfunction, and suffering. This is the case for most of humanity. When I use words like selfish I'm not using it in a moral sense. I'm using it in terms of being hyper fixated on the needs of oneself, which is how we survive, but also leads to corruption, disease, delusion, etc. if we don't self-actualize and self-transcend.

    • @RayG817
      @RayG817 Місяць тому +2

      @@lucas_segeren Or maybe our harsh judgements about our behaviors lead to sickness. If we see our acts as unacceptable but forgivable, like the acts of a child (or a pet), then we might feel less pain. I don't believe in your version of self-actualization. I think we are trapped in our DNA and do the best we can. We can soften aspects of our animal nature, but we can't erase them. And I wouldn't want to.

    • @lucas_segeren
      @lucas_segeren  Місяць тому +2

      @@RayG817 I never mentioned erasing anything. We transcend + include them. We're not just 'trapped' in our DNA. DNA is influenced by environmental factors (epigenetics). Behaviors are forgivable, but can still lead to sickness and dysfunction. This is observably the case in the world.

    • @RayG817
      @RayG817 Місяць тому

      @@lucas_segeren Then what is your definition of self-actualization? Do you believe that each of us has a particular destiny?

    • @CareBlair222
      @CareBlair222 Місяць тому

      @RayG817 Animals are also capable of compassion, empathy and love. They experience emotions a lot like we do and can connect on deep levels. Science backs this up. We humans don't give animals enough understanding and appreciation. We see them as inferior thats why the planet and eco system is going to shit. Sure, they can be primitive and evil like us. But I believe humans know better, and animals probably do not. That's why it's important for humans to evolve to a conscious state for the sake of all humanity and sentiment beings. Co existing without exploitation and intentional cruelty is the ultimate lesson we humans must learn and strive for. But the ego refuses. Due to greed, power struggles, competition, and envy. Animals aren't capable of world peace. But we are. This planet is ruled by man, not by God. That's why suffering will always prevail while God can only intervene and take care of us when we get back to our true home. Which is the source. Which is love. Good day.

    Not the point of the video but I do want to point out that ghandi was abusive to the women in his life and deeply struggled with sexism. He’s not the best example of an actualized person when ur trying to discuss relationship between the sexes.
