That bit from 53:24 till 57:30 on his marriage should be uploaded as a separate video for more people to watch... it made me tear up. That was so personal and incredibly powerful. I know some people don't like identity politics, but it's necessary at a time when the world is stuck between accepting and condemning non-straight people. I hope y'all choose him. I ain't even from the USA but he's the only politician I've ever seen who gives me faith in humanity and who truly feels open, honest and committed to the cause. Mayor Pete is definitely a generational bridge. I watched several of his interviews and town halls and he can talk intellectually to a 10 yo as well as a 51yo. He is educated, but modest, which is so lacking in our current leader. We need to change the channel in 2020.

I am so impressed with this man! He is honest, intelligent and willing to admit to mistakes. For one, I am so tired of old wealthy white men running this country and I am a 72 year old woman. I don't think my generation has done a very good job of keeping our democracy safe. It is time for a younger generation to take over. Though I am on Social Security and far from wealthy, I donated a small amount to his campaign and bought his book. As he says, "It will take all of us pulling together". This means setting aside our differences and looking toward a brighter future for our country. It is a grass roots, word-of-mouth thing and I am telling everyone I know who is feeling so discouraged about the choices we have. Just listening to him makes me feel a sense of hope for our future and my children's and grandchildrens' future, too.

When you talk with J. Capehart it’s wonderful to respond to a positive, big minded person,
it allows you to tell parts of your story you would otherwise think twice about mentioning.
He was gracious in setting an admiring welcome for one of your almost first interviews.
A person who does not bash his concerns /community hurts on you is one who should be
closely fostered Pete, and requested to do his bit to help and promote your actual, earnest
objective, the obliteration of bias suffered by people of colour.

You don't go from mayor of south bend to president of this great country. How many days work did he miss this year in south bend, over half??? Trump is available to us more than any other president has been. As a person who was active duty military I can say you don't go from the guard for eight years and then get a checkmark for being in Afghanistan for seven months to thinking you can run the United States military. This simply is not going to happen, Pete will not be president of the United States. I don't see him representing the people, I see him looking up to the ones we don't want to be beholding to anyway. That was a great interview with Pete Buttigieg. I learned a lot about his positions, his experience, preparation and hopes for this Nation. I have been following him for a while. I like that he speaks openly and honestly about himself and what he hopes to accomplish for America.
What is one thing you learned about his positions?
@@jakel7820 This was not much about policies, especially, not about details. He did mention though that he wants to introduce structural changes to ensure more democracy in the system. From other interviews, we know more specifics about changes to the Supreme Court, Electoral College, gerrymandering, etc. This is one way how he is different from other candidates. Without those changes, it will be very difficult to implement any progressive changes.

I think this interviewer is exceptional.
This man could make us proud to be Americans again if we're smart enough to give him the job. We desperately need his intelligence, energy and moral center. I'd rather listen to him than anyone else in the world right now.

@@jakel7820 Most of all, his capacity of both identifying fundamental concepts (freedom from/to) and addressing concrete issues (climate change, electoral reform, abortion). That's extremely precious for a true leader.

What specifically about climate change? What specifically about electoral college? What specifically about abortion? Those issues are covered by every candidate. T Chan I'm old (62) and I like and admire him. He is always on point and I think he very well could bring our country back together. You don't often see someone from afar like him in a lifetime. I could see myself looking up to and respecting him. It's early yet. I really hope my expectations aren't too high. I really don't want to cry on election day again.

Pete, you had me at economics and principals. If he is rooted at principals, then we can measure his ethics, his mind set, his future policies of how they may go.
Never in my lifetime have I felt like voting was anything less then choosing the lesser of two evils until now and while I agree with Mayor Pete on most of his policy stances, that isn’t what has me feeling so inspired, so hopeful and like for once the vote I cast truly had the potential to trigger positive change. Never have I felt such passionate support for a political candidate as I do for Mayor Pete. I’ve signed up to volunteer and I’ve donated money. I want mayor pete to be president Pete and I plan on doing all I can to make that happen.
