Po is the best protagonist. He doesn’t have that typical black-white morality. He saw how Tai Lung and Shen were in pain and wanted to help them. He knows what pain feels like, and he wants to make sure others don’t feel that pain. That’s a true hero.
For me, the fact Po's flash through his life with Ping taking up most of that because Ping is singhandedly the sole reason Po had a happy life growing up after being separated from Li and his mother is what gets me the most. Also, back in the first movie, when going over the whole Dragon Warrior dream, Ping mentioned dreaming about making tofu but passed it off as just a stupid dream. Po becoming the Dragon Warrior gave Ping the inspiration to make his dream real too and started making tofu himself.
I did in fact cry when watching Po remembering his past. One nice detail about the cannon fight: The cannonballs glow red when fired. When Po redirects them, they turn gold.
Omg, maybe that was foreshadowing when Po learns how to control Chi. He unknowingly was redirecting those cannonballs using a little bit of chi, due to him being in a state of inner peace 😲

Lord Shen was the only villain of the trilogy that was a personal threat to Po directly because of their past. You can make an argument that Tai Lung is Shifu's personal nemesis and Kai is Oogway's. So Po defeating Shen was when his arc truly reached its climax.

19:22 I know this is just a funny commentary but I thought I would explain this moment, because it's one of my favorite moments in the movie. Shen heard a prophecy that a panda would be his downfall, so in an effort to avoid his fate he killed 'all' the pandas. Of course this set off a domino effect that led to the very fate he was trying to avoid. The reason he doesn't run from the cannon falling is because while he may not be reformed, in the end he accepted his death. This aligns not only with what Oogway said in the first film "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it." but the classic folklore/mythology trope of the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy. If anyone wants a more in depth analysis of these movies, specifically the first and second, I recommend watching Xiran Jay Zhao's video about it which talk about the movies from not only a writing perspective but a philosophical perspective

12:29 I think it's just because the VA was genuinely out of breathe while filming, at the end of some lines there are sharp exhales or a cut before a wheeze
If you watch this movie and just look at Po and Tigress and how close they've gotten it's absolutely crazy. Kung Fu Panda 2 spawned so much Po x Tigress material that it damn near defined an entire generation and was the biggest internet ship for a long time. And I can't really blame people for thinking that. For example, right before the scene where ya'll mentioned that they took no fall damage Tigress and Po duo climbed the building then during the fall towards the roofs, she catches and tosses him.
One of the subtle ways the trilogy indicated the change in their relationship and the advancement of Po's skills was in PO and Tigress's fight encounters with each other. In KFP1, she laid him out with ease in Po's early tests against the Five. Here in part 2, Tigress can still easily redirect his attacks while they're at that prison where Croc and Ox are, even though he's stronger. But by part 3, they have a practice spar while they're talking about how to beat Kai, and while she does ultimately beat him, they're remarkably in sync the whole time, almost like a dance. They just GET each other now. If there is a part 4, I'd love to see how the movie builds on that (they become co-teachers, he actually wins a fight against her, the ship actually sailing, who knows).
I fucking LOVE the detail in this movie! I love how the weight distribution in each character fits their fighting style, and i love how beautiful the story is!
this was fr the first movie that made me cry as a child, the flashback scene while he was practicing dealing w his inner self and the water drop had me bawling
Lord Shen is my favorite Dreamworks villian. His whole character is just brilliant. Not having the love of his parents, he pursued on his goal to commit atrocities and genocide across China. I think even he knew he was too far gone and knew this wouldn't bring him any happiness or satisfaction but he also knew there was no turning back so that's why he continued on his whole conquest of China. He just couldn't find his inner peace. That's why he accepted his death at the very end, closing his eyes so that he may be punished for his sins and hopefully find some inner peace in the afterlife. That's how I see Shen as a villian.
I always say, Shen broke something in me when I was a child XD. Of course there are so many kid movies that show tragical or sad moments, but what Shen did was something that I felt showed me the cruelty of what a person who desperately wants power can do. It was horrible, it felt true, how can you aim for something like that and destroy everything someone can call home? To me, Kung fu Panda 2 is my favorite out of all the movies in the trilogy
This movie is a masterpiece. Even just that little snippet of Po remembering his mom's last moments, the way they animated her facial expressions is so visceral it makes me tear up every time without fail
Yes Po really is that OP, and yes, he gets even more OP (Especially in the cartoons, which you guys should watch by the way, Legends of Awesomeness its called)
People speculated that the soothsayer was Shen's nanny/guardian. Shen doesn't harm her even when she tried ripping off his fabrics. If she was a nanny to Shen, it's kinda sad to know that she tried her best to warn Shen.
DreamWorks has a fun time with making absolutely amazing villains it seems. And I DO mean villains. Like Shen is an absolute monster, the FIRST thing we see him do is commit genocide...in a kids film. Holy shit
Shen is ny favourite villain, and probably one of the best cinematography ones, because he is literally the opposite of Po and the message of the movie. The movie is about letting go, going with the flow and understanding that the past stays there, in the past, Po learns this through the movie, he fights his trauma and moves forward. Meanwhile, Shen can't let go, he is remembering and focusing on a prophexy he learned a long time ago, and decides to do EVERYTHING to stop it.
Po's backstory is surprisingly dark and i feel sad for po on being separated by his parents and loosing his mom who she's been killed by shen and his wolf troopers
A funny thing about kung fu panda, maybe the first one idk, is when china saw it, their reaction was 'this has tons of Chinese aspects, kung fu, pandas, e.t.c., why didnt we think of this'
19:23 Be was fine with dying because 1. He couldn’t escape that, and 2. He technically did change his fate like he wanted to. Instead of dying because of a panda, he died because of him cutting the rope.
Shen, covered in gunpowder could be considered a warrior of black and white, so the prophecy may have been referring to his self defeat at the end of the movie.

If only you knew.
10:30 pretty sure there is a mod for turning all the sempou temple monks into the movie characters xD
Yes Po really is that OP, and yes, he gets even more OP (Especially in the cartoons, which you guys should watch by the way, Legends of Awesomeness its called)
If Toonami ever aired any Dreamworks movies, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish would be the most fitting choices .
Those 2 are my top 2 fav dreamworks movies
Technically po’s training arc is the tv shows legends of awesomeness
People speculated that the soothsayer was Shen's nanny/guardian. Shen doesn't harm her even when she tried ripping off his fabrics. If she was a nanny to Shen, it's kinda sad to know that she tried her best to warn Shen.
There's no speculation, it's canon that Soothsayer was his nanny
He accepted his death, because he changed his destiny, he died on his own terms
8:07 I mean he did have his redeeming moment when he told Shen no when ordered to kill his men along with Po’s crew
Dreamworks made sequels more Iconic.
Kung Fu Panda 2
Shrek 2
Puss in Boots 2
This movie is definitely my favourite of the series. Between the music, the art, the story, and the villain, it's just generally awesome.
Po's backstory is surprisingly dark and i feel sad for po on being separated by his parents and loosing his mom who she's been killed by shen and his wolf troopers
“breaking brad is pro’s dad” took me tf OUT💀💀💀💀
“Animated films are just for kids”
The Kung Fu Panda movies: Allow us to introduce ourselves
If they watch the third one, there either gonna love or hate Kai
I love how each movie is about Po growing as a panda
Both metaphorically and literally
A funny thing about kung fu panda, maybe the first one idk, is when china saw it, their reaction was 'this has tons of Chinese aspects, kung fu, pandas, e.t.c., why didnt we think of this'
this made me remember how much i cried during kung fu panda 2 flashback scenes 😢😢😢
19:23 Be was fine with dying because 1. He couldn’t escape that, and 2. He technically did change his fate like he wanted to. Instead of dying because of a panda, he died because of him cutting the rope.
Fun fact: in the third movie he does in fact unlock ultra instinct and become god
Kung Fu Panda 2 is my favorite out of the trilogy can’t wait for 4 next year.
12:54 the fact that i have a drawing of master shifu as a gangster makes this way funnier
Of all the movies, the second one was always my fave.
This trilogy of movies truly great af especially the antagonists
I just love that eden is so into these movies they are truly great movies
I legitimately cry every time I see that scene where they play the montage of po’s life in the rain
18:34 "they know to much..."
"maybe I wouldn't have watched it if I knew there was so much child po-"
Shen, covered in gunpowder could be considered a warrior of black and white, so the prophecy may have been referring to his self defeat at the end of the movie.
I still love shens and tai lungs voice actors, they did an amazing job
6:04 I've seen people praise Shen as a character in many different ways. But making a guy question his sexuality? That's definitely a first.
Can I just say every time I see the scene of Po remember his past I always get emotional
Came back to watch this after watching KFP 4. Can't wait to see them watch it on streaming and react.
I also thought Shen sounded androgenous, but that just makes him more interesting in my eyes. He was played by Gary Oldman btw.
I just realized something when you said that po is a nerd that sucks at fighting and is also super powerful is literally his yin and yang
9:00 boy do I have news for you!!!
Honestly surprised these guys didn’t simp for tigress this entire movie
That mantis frame Is haunting me now,
15:19
9:33 if you look right below their legs, you can see their reflection. Such an amazing detail almost no one notices.
17:56 Sorry... but I can't get over pog face Shifu...
14:26 words cant be described how i laughed at this scene
Shen stands as one of DreamWorks best villain, damn he literally almost drove Pandas to extinction by himself alone.
And don't forget death from puss in boots 2 who's one of the best villains DreamWorks had ever made
@@Mr.Feather130i'd argue that Shen is better, but they are still top 2 best Dreamworks villains.
Man those are pretty big for bullets.
almost like cannon balls
I can relate to the title, Shen scared me shitless as a kid
