- If you own a Dodge or Chrysler and you have a check engine light on, here's how you can find out what that means and how to reset it. But don't forget to fix the problem....resetting the light does not fix the problem.
Not only does this guy have a cool North-East Accent, he tells you some good knowledge about the Dodge engine light. This video has helped me get the codes and it clears the engine light. Nice job!! Now I will go Paark My Caaar at Haaarvard Yaaaard.
Thanks.
I just tried this for my 98 Durango which had a "Check Engine" light on. It worked perfectly. 👍👍👍👍 . Thanks brother
I nust bought 2003 Chrysler Town & Country LX from a dodge dealership. It is super clean one owner. 2 days after 34 miles of driving I have check engine light. Ill check for code now.
I learned this a few days ago and tried for the heck of it and got P done. I did not push the trip meter this model was just the 3 key turns.
Thanks
Totally cool. Thank you so much. Yeah, I was driving down the interstate this morning and that check engine light just popped up. Got to my destination, pulled out the owners manual, didn't find out anything helpful. So now I am back home and will go over to that van and try that and see what happens.
This worked flawlessly on my 2000 Dodge Durango the very first time. Check engine came on a week ago. I change the spark plugs. Run much smoother now. 2 codes still show though (P1281 & P0301). I'll have to work on those. Excellent piece of information. Thank you for sharing.
P1281Engine coolant temperature remains below normal operating temperatures during vehicle travel.
Change your thermostate valve.
P0301Misfire detected in cylinder #1. **
Being you changed the plugs. Maybe its a bad plug wire on 1.
Hope i helped
Thats interesting, Jean. I noticed that driver side front (spark plug #1 ) looked worse that the others. Changed all the plugs. Runs much better now. Wires dont look bad. Bought new rotor, cap and thermostat. Will find time and replace them too soon enough. Thank you for the follow up assistance.
I have a 2000 dodge Durango also 4.7 liter 4X4 I get code p1281 and p0551. How can we get the light to turn off. I just had my motor rebuilt last week
Jazman Boyd
Your first code is because your engine is staying cold for too long. Could be the wrong thermostat or maybe the wrong antifreeze. Make sure your thermostat is rated for 195 degrees.
You second code involves your power steering.
Disconnect your battery to make the light go out.
Oh my gosh!! Thank you!! You just became my You Tube Hero of the month!
nice harley what part of the north do you stay?
New Hampshire.
Thanks.
Thanks brother, I should have googled this earlier today and just sent you the check for 100 bucks instead of letting the dodge dealer to tell me my gas cap had a leak
I never knew you could check it. Omg, it does. This is awesome. I changed the part and it runs well but engine light is still on and this gave me the same code for the issue. I'm still amazed that it gives you the code. Thank you. Useful to know.
You can reset the engine light also. There's several ways. I have a few videos on that. If you need help, let me know.
And don't forget to suscribe to my channel!
Thanks
Thanks a bunch man. This helped me out. P.S. pressure switch is done. You saved me at least one trip and with 3 little kids that helped out.
God Bless you, I am praying this works. I need to get my emissions done and can't because the check engine light is on. I pray this works!
We had an error code and watched this video- saved us on my son's 2002 Dakota!
Good to hear! I did this video in a 2002 Dakota. Great truck.
This tip got rid of the Check Engine Light on my 1997 GMC Safari Mini Van.
Thanks for the tip.Great to learn and now know.
Thanks. Worked like a dream on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. This may answer some questions going on for years.
On my 2003 caravan it showed the codes. Now I have to try and find the problem.
Thanks, that was a great start.
Scott, THANK YOU! Much needed information in desperate times. You really came through for me.
Thank you so much. I was worried that I had something majorly wrong with my car but I followed your instructions and there was no code and it worked on my 2012 Dodge Avenger
Cool. Glad it worked for you. I'm planning some more helpful video's soon.
2017-03-26 ... Scott, you're an engineering genius! I discovered my Dodge Dakota 2001 engine error code just like you instructed (P 0302) ... Thanks !!!
Thanks! This worked for me. 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 6.7L. Check engine light came on after I changed the batteries. Had to do a slight variation from what you stated. I keyed the ignition key three times as stated in the video, but had to hold the trip button down a fourth time while keying the ignition switch on again. Never saw the p-done, but all the gauge lights lit up. The analog needle meters (speedometer, RPM, temp, fuel, oil) went through a series of point positions (moving and stopping at various numbers/positions), and then all lights and gauges went off. When I started the truck next - the check engine light was off. Thanks again!
Really wow I have not heard that work on a 6.7 especially on an 08
Sweet! Worked on my '05 T&C van. Evap control system malfunction. Thanks for the video.
This little trick worked perfectly on a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. Thanks to you I was able to look up the code and make an informed decision. Appreciate the info!
Thanks for the tip Scott. I've got a 2002 Dodge Durango. Tried your suggestion and got P0456. I'll google and see what the problem is then , schedule it in with my mechanic
For those it doesn't work for, try doing it a bit faster. It didn't work for me at first but when I went off and on 3 times, quicker than in the vid, it worked perfectly. P0300, thanks for the vid Scott.
Hey wow....thanks for that info! I bet that's the reason it hasn't worked for everybody. I never thought of that. It makes sense. Thanks again.
😮wow very cool.
What if after changing battery, both terminals and distributor cap/rotor.
Allowed computer reset by unplugging negative battery for few minutes.
Still a crank no start issue.
Battery is new. Voltage reads on dash a between half and low.
Would battery need jumped to get full.charge.
My engine light on dash is flashing 12 times?
worked for me. As a 60 yr old lady they see me coming... fixed my thermostat and coolent temp sensor.
Cool! Glad it worked for you. Thanks for your comment.
Thanks much!! I have a 99 dodge caravan , the check engine soon light comes on once in a while. I always end up cleaning and disconnect the battery terminals, put it back on and all is good. Got to love electronic gigitry!! We used to call them idiot lights. Now I know how to clear the irritating thing!!!!
it worked great thanks for that video..i change the air temp censer..but the light been on for 3 weeks and of course the dealer wanted to put it on his money making computer to clear it and charge me big bucks .. but your trick did it ....
great.....keep those bucks where they belong, right in your pocket.
Hey Scott, thanks for the video! It's invaluable!
For other CEL researchers: After I tried Scott's advice and didn't quite get the results I needed, it kind of led me to tinker with the method. I quickly turned the key on and off 3 times (without pressing the trip button) and the code popped up right where Scott said it would. No trick to turn off the CEL worked for me though, so I went with the tried and true "pull off the positive battery cable."
This is great! Thanks for the tip. I just did a lot of body work and the CEL is on. Clearly there is a ground wire or something not making contact on the new fender (I never touched the engine) This procedure may help me work out where the problem is. Thanks!
You can also take it to an auto parts store and ask them to read the code for you.
Thanks Scott! This didn't work on my 1999 Dakota. Any tips for that year/model?
Dude, checkin in from Waltham. That was a wicked life sava. Much Thanks
Thank you! Got the code P0441. Going to try replacing the gas cap and go from there. I wasn't able to reset the check engine light but still got the code. Thank you! Saved me time and money.
my codes were p-0551, & 1684.
0551- switch failure incorrect imput state detected for power steering...
1684 - battery lost in the last 50 starts the battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts.
those were the two codes that came up during the procedure once I fix the problem i reset by pushing the button. this trip was very helpful it was actually priceless. thank you for sharing. I also have a 1999 Yukon this will be helpful different procedure could tell me the same similar outcome.
mr ok so your p1684 code went away for good
Dodge Dakota 2011. Going to try it when get home later! Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the info. Just got my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan from Dodge/Chrysler dealership, who charged me $150 to find out that there was an Evac Leak. Further diagnoses with a Smoke Test for another $150 was recommended. Great rip-off! One day later the check engine light came on. What do you think I should do? The vehicle still runs great.
Take a look at your gas cap. See if it looks dirty. Maybe clean it with some sort of spray can clear that's safe on plastic. Electrical parts cleaner works good. Then move all the parts that can be moved on the cap. Make sure they move freely. Drive it for a few days and see if the light goes out. If that doesn't work you can try buying a new cap.
Very helpful thanks. Do you know if I clear the code and don't solve the problem, will the CEL come back on?
Yes it will most likely come back on after a short while if you don't fix it. The time it stays off depends on what the issue is.
Thanks Scott, this has helped me multiple times and definitely saved me money and TIME!!! Gratitude!!
+Kathryn Burritt
Good to hear.
On my 2005 Sebring, it's a bit more complicated. The Trip reset is done by two buttons on a separate mini-panel. I had first used the On-Off-On-Off-On method and got the codes, which warned me basically that I was low on coolant. Now that I've replaced the coolant, no codes. When I went to the Trip Reset message, I noticed that first I got a jumble of every display it has, followed by "Pass". Which I presume means it now has no codes. But the light's still on. SInce the light went out on its own a few weeks ago, I'm waiting to see if that happens again.
I really appreciate this walk-through. Thanks.
your'e welcome
Thank you my man!!!! I’m such a dumbass when it comes to cars. I regret never paying attention when my dad fixed the cars growing up.
Hi. So when you get your vehicle inspected, will they know you re-set it? If yes, just disconnect the negative right?
+gregoryvanhalen that depends on the year of your car and what was wrong in the first place. What was your code for and what year is your car? It also depends on how long you drove it after resetting the OBD.
Glad I could help. As for your heater fan.....your heater blower motor circuit card has stopped working. You need to replace it if you want the slower speeds back. You can do it yourself. Save your money. Shop around the auto parts stores for the best deal. Then come back to youtube and type in "auto blower motor replacement". There's lots of videos on here showing you exactly how to replace it. It's not that hard. I did mine in about 30 minutes. It only cost me $35 for the part.
Good luck.
I have a 2001 ford 150 pickup, the check engine light is on, i have it worked on many times and had the egr valve replaced the truck runs good. any suggestion?
Ok, I got a couple ideas. The best one is to take it to an auto parts store and have them check the code. Most of them will do that for free. If they don't then go to another one that will. They can tell you why the light is on and even clear it. You'll have to decide about fixing it after you find out what it is.
My other idea is for you to clear it yourself. Just unhook the battery for a few seconds. It will clear, but it might come right back. That all depends on what the code is for.
Hello sir i own a 2002 Dodge Durango SLT and every time I put the key into the run position the normal chimes you normally hear cut out and all of my lights flicker inside and out.... and when my lights are turned on and I open the driver door the chimes do the same thing with the engine off... any ideas would be much appreciated thank you
Works with a Nissan Note too! Many thanks from Glasgow, Scotland.
I knew how to get and decipher the code, but not how to clear code. It worked to clear code on my 2000 Dakota. Thank You P.S. "Evap system Leak" may be as simple as the gas cap not tight. embarrased
Awesome info, I have a 04 ram 5.7 hemi. Light came one as a egr sensor I replaced the censor and code went away no problem. But I noticed that when key is turnd just to power the car (not crank it up) all lights flash once an remain off but the check engine light stays on, but i start the truck up and it goes off immediately. I tried your truck and I couldn't get it to work, do you know that it will work on a 04 ram?
Ment to say tried your trick and couldn't get it to work**
Thanks, my dad couldn't find his code reader, ill do this tomorrow and drive it to make sure they don't come back.
hello dear teacher i have chrysler o4 and the code showed was p 0345 or p0456 which is gas cap and the other code was p 1684 that is nothing serious for erasing of these codes i would like to use your trick 10 second pressing and 3 times key dancing do you think it will work on chrysler sebring 04 or not? if not any other trick plz?
hameed wafa if it didn't work you can dissconnect the battery for a few seconds.
Did it work for you?
You rock!
Wish you could unravel the same mysteries for a FORD... :'(
Hi Scott have 2004 Durango. The check engine light did not come on until I took my car to PEPBOYS for an oil change. That's another story....Anyway I did not receive any codes. Is there something I didn't do right. I did have car door open, does that matter?
I have a 2010 chrysler town and country it uses a key fob with a computer chip. Any suggestions?
Worked exactly as you showed...thanks a bunch
Glad I could help out!
cool!
Hey Scott...I did this today BC light came on but after it displayed all dashes on trip meter it said done and that's it but check engine light is still on
I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan and I tried what you suggested, but nothing showed up except for the 0.00. Is there another way?
Yeah, you can take it to an auto parts store and have them read the code for you. Most of them do that for free. They can reset it for you too. But that doesn't fix it and it probably won't get you a sticker either.
I have didge grand caravan 2003 and The code p1684 doesn't wanna go away. that's the only code. I tryed erasing the code with a code reader but I couldn't erase it. if I try these metho with the trip bottom. u think It will erase?
+eselover21 that's a transmition code. Transimtion codes need special readers to clear them. That code can come up if a transmition sensor was disconnected from it's power supply.
Glad you liked the video. Always good to save money.
I so appreciated your vid! My wife got stranded with a loss of power. She just got gas, and the attendant did not put the cap back on, and I suspected this failed the ecm. Your vid tells me that's why the fuel pump failed. Thank you. would
so if the light comes back on I have to go get it checked correct? mine said "gas cap loose" so i tightened tis twice...checked the oil, etc. nothing low
@@judywinters8615 if it's the gas cap then tighten it. Don't worry because the light will go out on its own after you drive it so many times. Maybe two or more times. If it doesn't, then you might need a new gas cap or you can try cleaning it. I cleaned mine the last time this happened to me.
Thank you it worked!
Worked like a charm! Saved me some money! Thanks!
My check engine light lit up yesterday. I went to 3 different AutoZones. They used OBD2, all 3 test resulted with “no code”. They stated nothing is showing up but the light is still on. Have you ever heard of that? Should I reset the car with your technic in this video? The only problem I noticed was that the drivers side lock didn’t work but now it’s fine. Thanks for any assistance you may offer
Yeah there's a couple things you can try. It sounds like a transmition issue. Those codes don't show up on a regular tester and can't be reset by one either. So you could disconnect one of your bettery cables ( negative one) for a few seconds and see if the light goes out. Drive it. It might come back on. If it does then it's probably your transmition. You'll have to take it to a transmition shop to have them read the code. They can tell you what it is and reset it. Unfortunately that's going to cost you. Probably. Transmition codes are not emission or saftey related but they still throw a code that lights up your CEL light and you can't get a sticker with the light on.
Good luck.
Scott Prado ...Scott, thanks so much for the reply. I will try your battery suggestion and let you know. Hopefully it not my transmission because that’s going to cost me. I really appreciate your suggestions 😃
@@zoilarivera8866 yes try that and let me know how you make out. Like you said, hope it's not your transmition.
Scott Prado .. Hey Scott, great new, the light is off...thank you so much...I will be careful making sure it has enough transmission oil and monitor if I feel any shift slippages, funny noises, etc.
I have a 2000 Dodge Caravan, should I always heat the car before moving?
Does heating the car have anything to do with the transmission?
I really appreciate your knowledge & suggestions.
Hi Scott: We tried your method on a Dodge Caravan 2009, with no luck, Any suggestions
I have a 2000 Durango and I did everything the same as in your video except holding the trip meter deal. I just did the key 3 times and the codes popped up.
just tried this with my 99 dodge Durango, not luck , no P or anything, any suggestions ?
Worked just like you said it would. P 1684 Battery disconnected in the last 50 starts.
Thank you!! I love your accent!! 🫶❤️👏
You're welcome. And thanks for your comment!
Thanks ... it worked on my Dodge Stratus 2.7. I got a Code P 1684 - "Battery disconnect within last 50 starts." So, I'll clean the battery terminals under the wheel well in front of the front left wheel. Im not sure yet how to turn off the engine light but maybe after I disconnect the cables and reconnect them it will go off. The car has been weird to start lately...before it always started fast, just a turn of the key, now sometimes it cranks, but sometimes pops right off. Im thinking maybe its a Engine Coolant Temp Sensor...If I replace it, and it fixes the startup, Im still not sure the engine light will come off....blaa blaa blaa...thanks anyway, the video is a good help.
Scott I have to thank you for being the first person to actually tell me something practical and saved me tons of money....your are awesome!.......Do you have any suggestions as to why my fan dial for heat/cool won't work on the first three settings?I have to have the heat/cool,on the highest setting only, for the fan inside the van to work....Thanks Scott
Thank you Scott appreciate the help, hope all is well
You're welcome and thanks for your comment.
I have a 2012 Grand Caravan this procedure did not work for me possibly because I have two trip meters A and B ? Tried them both so I don't know. The next day the light went out. Love a car that heals itself ! But thanks for the info
This is really handy thank you. You saved me a fortune!
Hey you're welcome. Glad I was able to help you out.
Mine will tell me the code but wont reset? Am I doing something wrong?
I will check this test later tonight on a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500
Wow, thank you for the information! I think I have low coolant, but I'm not sure, I'm going to try this and find out!
Thank you, Scott!
Cheers!
Ride Forever-Work Whenever
I hear ya Bro.
Thanks for this trick. I did it in my 2002 Dodge and my newer 2007 Chrysler i just got. I had a question- how accurate is the doing the key trick versus the code reader? I can't seem to find anything in regards to that question and a lot of the mechanics I talked to say they have never tried it that way/heard of doing it that way. I get a p0406 code that some say that they have never seen before ever. the first time the code came up the code reader gave me a laundry list of things that were "wrong" lighting up the check engine light.
...the code you mentioned is for your EGR valve. It looks like an easy, inexpensive fix.
Thanks for your comment.
...I think the key trick works as well as the code reader, but the code reader will probably give you a lot more information and detail.
That depends a lot on how good your code reader is.
@@RealLifeProductions if you know how to reprogram factory remotes (key and fob in one)for chysler, dodge i assume they are all the same (ram, dodge, and chrysler). i would love a video on it.
Jess ....I might have a way but it may require having a Dodge fob to start with. You would need one that works already and up to 4 other ones ready to program. I'll get back to you. I would do it for you right now if i had another fob around to program.
half way or fully engage the ignition key?
About haft way.
Hi iv got a ford fiesta 2005 model my fuel gauge is on R and iv already replace the fuel pump in the tank and there where about 20L of fuel in the tank and its a electronic gauge can pls help its very frustrating.
Thanks Scott, my engine light just went on and i panicked wondering what it was. At least I can check it and see what the problem is.
Did not work on my 05 dodge minivan till I clicked ignition on-off quickly then it worked great. I could not shut light off till I disconnected battery, then light went off.
Thanks
how many people say you look and talk like Paul Sr?
yeah I get that comment a lot....lol
Scott quick question after my car gave me 2 codes p168.4 and p0700 it went straight to done it didn't say sure so how would I reset the light I have a 2002 Chrysler town n country
+Tasha Brown your second code is a transmission code. Usually you can't delete those yourself. As far as I know, only a shop can clear that code. And the first code usually indicates that the power to your transmition computer (PCM) was cut or too low.
You're probably going to need a transmition for this one.
Scott Prado that's what the shop said so I'm just going to sale it as is it's a 2002 Chrysler town n country with 83633 miles I'm so mad I just brought it last month.... How much you think I can get for it?
+Tasha Brown. Those are transmition codes. You need a transmition shop to reset them. They can't be reset thru your OBD.
That's your regular computer. The transmition computer is your PCM. Sometimes low voltage or no voltage to the transmition computer can trip those codes.
Let us know how you make out.
+Tasha Brown .....wow. IDK. I would have to blue book it. Probably not much. You should see if a transmition shop will reset it for you first. I think it's a minor problem.
Thought this was dude from the motorcycle show on discovery channel back in the day 😂😂
Thought the same
That show would be American Choppers, I think I saw every episode lol
kivontae beale ...same!... had to really look a few more times to make sure lol omm 😹
Great video! How do I reset the engine light though? It won't turn off. Mine never said "Sure" for the reset process
Try it again. If it still doesn't work you can disconnect the negative battery post for a minute and then reconnect it. That will work.
@@RealLifeProductions I tried probably 10 times and it won't turn off. I disconnected the positive for about 10 and disconnected the negative for over and hour still won't go off lol. I turned the lights on and held the horn in too just to make sure it discharged any extra juice and still didn't work. I believe we fixed the problem because I'm not getting the error codes anymore but I just can't get the engine light to reset.
@@StonedRambo01 ok that sounds like a transmission problem. Is that what you fixed? If it was you won'tbe able to clear the light by yourself unless you have special equipment. You might have to take it to a transmission
...shop. Or take it to an auto parts store and see if they can clear it.
@@RealLifeProductions Error codes were
P1684 - Battery disconnect
P0869 - Line Pressure high
P0218 - Temperature transmission
P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch trouble
P0932 - Transmission Pressure Sensor
P0700 - Transmission Control System
Yeah definitely some transmission codes.
We replaced the upper radiator hose that was leaking and all the codes stopped showing up. Only the engine light stays on with 0 codes anymore. So if I bought a obd2 scanner I could reset it myself correct? Or take it to someone who has one? Thanks! I just subbed by the way you definitely earned it!
I have a 1999 town country Chrysler.. check engine is on for 3 days. will this work for my van?
Yeah it should work. Give it a try.
SvddenDeth I'm pretty sure it won't. There might be another way to do something like that on a Toyota. Or take it to an auto parts store and have them do a free OBD readout for you. Most of them do that for free.
I am going to try this today on my 2002 Durango. Check engine light came on after it was vapor locked from running out of had and i never got the light turned off. Now my tags are up and smog is due and they won't touch it with the light on. Hopefully this or the battery disconnect works ! Will let you know. Thanks for posting. :-)
Hey how did you make out?
It worked! Passed smog and got my new tags on the day they were due to expire. :-)
Cool.
hi , this was great I found two codes going to look them up now. This was very helpful thank you for posting it. it is for a Dodge Neon 2001 4 door.
Glad I could help. Good luck getting it fixed.
+Scott Prado yes. You was very helpful I am subscribing. keep up the useful help and tips,
best wishes to you.
I have a 99 ram. does this have to be done in the trip mode? or will this work in the miles mode?
I'm pretty sure you have to be in the trip mode. I don't have that truck anymore so i can't try it for you.
Light just came on today. I did check the spark plug wires that are dated 2004..could that cause the light to go on? I def. will be replacing those. I'm a soccer mom but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty!
Yes, old wires can short out and cause your engine to misfire. If your wires are 10 years old then you should change them.
i have a 2005 Mercedes sprinter with a freighliner engine and I don't know how to reset the abs light?!! please help
Are you taking the key out each time? My trip odometer stays on when I turn the key off and on, and no code. I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan.
no I'm leaving it in
Finally figured it out. It just worked a bit differently on my model.
Cool, glad to hear that.
How did you do it??
Can you please tell me does this work for a 2005 Dodge Durango with the Hemisphere 5.7
Give it a try. Only takes a few seconds. Doesn't work on everything. Not sure why.
hi i have a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country suv/van and the engine light just turned on and i do not have trip meter is there another way to fix my car?
+Alicia Cook take it to an auto parts store and ask them for a free code check. They will tell you what codes are stored in your on board computer. It could be something as simple as a loose gas cap.
2007 Dodge Caliber I got a - - done - -, but the check engine light stayed on, no P in the - - done - -. I tried something I saw elsewhere which was pressing the gas three times with it turned on and got a hr4957 code while in the regular milage meter, not trip meter. Tried everything and can't find that anywhere, or get it to reset that light. It was JUST worked on for the throttle body, had it replaced and now this. Any suggestions?
Melissa if you have a light there should be a code. Have an auto part store check the code for free. If all else fails you can pull the negative battery cable for a couple minutes then replace it. That well cancel the light. Let me know how you make out.
I am taking it Friday to get the oil changed anyway, I'll try the battery this evening, and report back. Thanks so much!
***** ok....good luck.
I did this on my 300. It did not give me the codes...however, it did turn my check engine light off???
worked like a charm on my 2003 dodge ram!! ty :)
Sarah Bronson do you have the 5.7?
Have a 2000 Dakota and tried this out. After the code displays then there is a ---------- display then. P- DONE. There was never a SURE option to remove the ck engine light. Any other suggestions to remove the ck engine light
Pete.....you can take it to Advance Auto and they will check and reset your your computer for free. Or do it the old school way and disconnect the negative side of your battery for a few minutes, then hook it back up. That will reset the check engine light.....at least for a while. But neither of those two things will fix the problem.
Thanks old school worked. Code was fixed with new gas cap
Thanks for the heads up on aa
Thank you, you just saved me money.
I have a 2000 Dodge Avenger ES. I have gotten that engine light off after replacing a used transmission and it was gone. Only problem is i don't know why it came back. Does it pop up after i do 3000 every miles or is it something else? I do know i have no air conditioning and i wonder if it's showing me that just because of that? I just want to get rid of it. I never liked seeing the engine light. It was gone when i had it repaired long time ago. I may take it to the mechanic again and get it reset or maybe a checkup. I know it's nothing serious cuz i never have problems. I just despise seeing the engine light when i start my car lol.
hey I thought I got back to you on this. guess I didn't. how did you make out?
Normally you can get a mechanic to reset it but it'll just come back. I guess that's what you get for having a old car. Kinda annoying. I had to replace my ERG part and valve and engine light was still there. they couldn't reset it. So i gave up. I think i'll just suck it up and go with the punches. I may get a new car. I am only four months away with car payments though.
Worked on my 2009 Grand Caravan! Thank you!
it said done but did not clear off the light. so am I not getting error codes? also. my car isn't accelerating and shaking at stops /red-light only when it's I neutral park or driving with gas does it not shake
Not sure I'm understanding what's happening with you, but try this...at a stop, press down hard on your brake and give it gas at the same time.
Let me know if the light goes out and if it stops shaking. If the light goes out, I may know what's happening. Let me know.
my light did clear finally I tried again. it wasn't accelerating either but it started back. will try the stopped thing u told me ty
I have a 2006 dodge durango and the check engine light came on with the oil light too. my hubby checked the oil, and it was low. ( needs changing also ) so he put some in to where it supposed to be. So now it doesn't show the oil light anymore. but the check engine is still on. ( all the fliuds are good in the truck.
Thanks! Tried this and got a 0700 code. TCM fault. Even if there still is something wrong its better to have a hint on what it is.
Worked like a charm on my 2002 Dodge Durango
