Thanks Elliot. It's been great throughout the house. I'm not sure about using it on a step because, while not slippy as such, I think the traffic would wear the wax away. We have a beam I did by a staircase which everyone puts their hand on to steady themself as they descend and it's almost gone back to cream so I don't think it would be great for stairs.
You may have already done it by now but I’m doing this at the moment and would definitely say beams first. I like things to be super neat around edges and it’s a lot easier to control emulsion with a fine brush than it is wax. If you do it the other way round you’ll definitely need to do emulsion touch ups to the ceiling.
this paint is 3 times the cost of leyland trade silk i have just used 1 tin of frenchic but i am not clear what the advantage of this stuff is. Any thoughts please.
I'm not sure William. I mean, it's chalk paint so I guess that's different? The FB community group seem to love it, and I've used several of the colours on walls and furniture in my house and it's been a very nice finish, but I'm not an expert!
@@mikemcgibney I used two tins of that paint to do the very small landing area in my little cottage. Why do you say "approximately"? Surely you know exactly how much you used.. How did you stretch two tins to do all that? I find it quite thick and doesn't go far and reckon it will cost £400 to do the rest of the house
@@rinklestiltskin I said approximately because I was doing my whole house so I had tins on the go all the time. I do not know exactly how many millilitres of paint I used. Are you using Frenchic? Maybe you’re putting it on too thickly. The first coat should look pretty patchy and second coat a bit more firmed up. Doesn’t need to be perfect as the browning wax will go on. I did my whole house and it didn’t cost a huge amount in Frenchic creme de la creme paint.
buddy, your house is a combination of a cozy fairy tale with an irresistible story, I admire your house
looks great - I'm going to give it a go now on some dirty old beams!
OMG. Just found this. Got a whole attic I was going to sand blast. Looks like a gamechanger! I have to try this stuff. Thanks for the video!
Best of luck! I don't think you'll be disappointed!
That is great and has given me drive to change ours! thanks for sharing
Amazing work. It must have taken you ages. Love the fact that your cat helped 😊
Incredible work! It looks amazing well done!
Love this. Looks so much better!! do you recall how much paint and browning wax you used for your project and which colours?
Hi Mike, looks amazing!! do you know if you can use the wax on the step of a staircase, is it slippy?

thanks for sharing, I'm about to do the same but will also be painting the ceiling. any suggestions on sequence? beams or ceiling 1st?
Good question - I don't think it matters too much if your ceiling is white/light coloured. I reckon I'd do ceiling then beams. Good luck!
Did you do it? I'm also thinking of doing the ceiling and the beams.

Does it Still look decent 2 years later ?
Hi looks really good, I’m wondering will this work on waxed beams ?
Hi Mike, can you tell me what your prep was prior to first coat please? Did you sand at all?
Hey! Nope. No sanding. Just wiped away a few cobwebs! The paint went on easily with no problems. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks for sharing! Looks great! How would you say the beams compare with beams that have been sanded and then waxed?
I'm sorry I never replied to this. To be honest I'm not sure of the answer! Hope it worked out if you did it!
This is amazing! Was this the lazy range?
Yes it was! 🙌

Hi, did you mask each ceiling beam before waxing? Thanks
Sorry for not responding. No, I didn't!
Great video. How many pots did you use of both?
Thanks. I would say approx 2x750ml tins of creme de la creme paint, and just under 1 tin of the browning wax.
so total cost approx £50.
