The cat deserves more credit for supervising this restoration and making sure that the work is done right. Thanks to the cat, this is a beautifully restored table, and the human has followed the cat's instructions well.

In my area the style of table is referred to as a "drop leaf". A great job. To help preserve your work on the bottom of the wings, you could ad a small piece of felt on the top of the pull out support. Narragansett Bay

Really really amazing work. I had a table like this that Dad brought to my New York City apartment, along with 2 caned chairs. I overlooked Lexington Avenue and was on the second floor. In those days, the street noise didn't bother me. The table sat just under my only large 3 part window. I don't think I really appreciated it enough. Knowing myself I was probably kind and excited and showed gratitude. But things were tough living and working/walking to my job. Got a place close to a job I didn't like. Lonely, a second job to cover the $895 rent, life wasn't easy. Did the best I could, really. Today receiving the table I would have cried in gratitude. In those days you think everyones going to live long and be well. Thank you for helping me process this time, thanking Dad in heaven. Thank you for your stellar work, it is indeed magnificent what you do. Utterly fine craftsmanship. I love to see it and I pray that you are more than content with you work and life. I am grateful for you. Much love and peace, Amanda

To think I gave away a table just like that one(I retrieved from an MD lounge when our depart was majorly renovated) it was brought in years before by a retired MD . I loved the table and knew it could look 100% better, it was painted green. It had resided in my garage for at least 25 yrs. Oh well hopefully it went to a good crafter or artist’s home. Your table is great!

Beautiful restoration work!!! Excellent quality of work & care!!! Fluffy the cat is adorable 🐈‍⬛. He is the official inspector 😊.
My personal preference would have been to choose a finish with a lighter color , leaving the wood in its natural lighter raw color instead of a darker finish. But that’s just me.
Since living spaces are smaller nowadays, many people are opting for lighter color furniture (white wash, blonde wood) to make the space feel larger & brighter.

INSTANT like just for the cat! What a cutie. And beautiful restoration work. I think I'd take one look at those leaves and want to give up. What a labor of love. I have a pull out table cabinet with similar-looking water damage that I just can't get the heart to get rid of because it was my grandmother's. I've been dreading even looking at it because it's just in such bad shape that I'm scared it's too far gone. But after watching you tackle THIS, I'm feeling a bit more confident that I can restore it now. :)

If you use oxalic acid make sure you wear a good mask when it comes time to sand the wood dust reside is a problem. When plugging old screw holes you get a better result if you cut some wood plugs. Plugging with dowel is using end grain and it doesn't hold as well. Steaming timber in my view is a waste of time, the shrinkage has occurred well below the surface and what moisture is replaced in the steaming process is lost quickly when it is re- exposed to the atmosphere. Just some things I have learned along the way. You have quite good hand skills.

I do not know anything about woodworking, but your work was mesmerizing and relax. I was very happy to see you were patching the holes and damage parts. This give me an idea to try and repair an old table I have. Your cat was lovely, thank you.

How beautiful the sweet sounds 💙 My mother always spoke of her great, great grandfather who was a carpenter and moved to Canada in the late 1800s from Germany. Her respect for him and his work was amazing. Now I understand why!!!

Хочу высоко отметить то , что вы использовали натуральные материалы : льняное масло и пчелиный воск, которые не повредят здоровью людям, обедаюшим за этим столом! Респект!

I have that SAME table from my grandparents! Thank you for showing me how to refurbish it!! My grandparents immigrated from Austria in 1919 and settled in Stonnington, CT. I love the old table and could never part with it. I'm now 72. 🥰

Stunning renovation. I have one of these old winged tables that needs this kind of restoration. Both wings are uneven with the top when it is fully open and in need of a god sanding & re-staining. I just love it..

I love old furniture pieces because to me they have history and character. Thank you so much for this video…. You are a true artist, extremely gifted, extremely talented….. you did an amazing job. I would purchase that table for my dining room, it’s the perfect size, and although it’s dark wood, it would make a statement among my light colored pieces.
